Thirty years obese. Six years ago an orthopedic surgeon said i needed a knee replacement. No medical aid. Started dr E Berg's keto and Intermittend fasting. Stationary bike. Lost twenty seven kilos. No more pain or limping. Covid, i hurt myself on the farm, have an operation and sadly let go picked up twelve kilos. Pain back in knee, to be honest pain in both knees. Noticed when i consume alcohol or starch/sugar my knees are killing me. Started keto and Intermittend fasting again, cutting out nightshade veg. Back to cycling twenty minutes a day. Also a bit on the rebounder for lymph drainage. Lost seven kilos and my depression. Ten years ago i was on antidepressants for ten years, also on goiter pill and a pill to lower my sugar. No pills now, maybe a anti inflammatory once a week if I had to chase the cattle. Thank you for your videos, have been exercising my bumm muscle and to unlock my knee.... A five kilogram of raw rice in a pillow case. Sit down, leg stretched out, heel on another chair. Rice on knee, stretching my hamstring muscles. It takes time but for the second time I'm winning. Love from South Africa.

@@kathym6603 the weight, it can be sand as well. The rice was more moveable. My knee locks in the bend position because I'm a side sleeper. Putting the leg straight in front, the heel on another chair and the bag of rice on the knee, stretces the ligaments at the back of the knee. Start with a lighter weight for a couple of weeks.

Mid-60's man here. Obese, Thanks for your videos. I started watching and doing some of your exercises almost 2 years ago. They help my knees. About a year ago, I got gout. Bad diet. I did intermittent fasting and keto at the same time. Lost weight. Fast. Started with 12/12, then soon went to 16/8. In September, I stopped because of schedule, but started again last month. Yes, the keto sickness is a real thing. But so is the weight loss and the health benefits that result. The weight loss helped my knee pain. Also, I watched your video on kettle bell swings, in which you had a lady help explain.... this was around November I believe. Kettle bell swings are now a regular part of my exercise routine. Because of diet and exercise, a lot from your videos, my knees don't hurt near as much. My blood pressure also came down naturally... it's normal now.

Congratulations on your growing family. Your honesty is so greatly appreciated. I;ve never married and have no children but I understand how parenting can become the driver in you life. I feel the people can be way too hard on themselves for not doing a diet or sleep regimen perfectly. Trying your best is what you can do. So do that. So I appreciate the honesty knowing it may help others understand perfection is not what you should be aiming for. Improvement is good enough,

Thanks. Not a fan of the Keto diet because it's very difficult to stick with. I did Atkins years ago, lost weight, but it was difficult. But I now eat anti-inflammatory via avoiding sugar, white flour, ultra processed stuff, and vegetable oils. I eat whole vegetables and fruits, lean meats with sometimes beef, a few whole grains, soy products, and still a little dairy. This has tremendously helped my arthritis inflammation flare-ups. And I have been losing weight for the past year plus while I have followed it. Easy to follow as well.

I was strict keto for 4 years. I lost 174 pounds and have successfully kept it off for 5 years even though I am now low carb, not keto. I include fruits now in my diet. Unfortunately, i am facing a total knee replacement in a month. Too much weight, too long, along with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome caused too much damage. I was in menopause when on keto. I did not do intermittent fasting, but did a long term 21 day water only fast.

Diet definitely affects my poor knees. I have been fasting like this... Diet limitations are tough but necessary. No dairy, no coffee, getting to no bread, more than one slice is not good, Beef equals ouchy, too. Eggs are good. Egg shell membrane capsule work well as well as liquid joint compound and Move Free. Afternoons, gotta take tylenol...

I am 72 and each year for the last five I do a 21 day water and mineral (Sodium Potassium and Magnesium) fast. I do this twice each year. For me, it is a time to clean out the garbage in my body and regenerate. I use urine strips to test for my body going into ketosis. For me it takes about 3 to 4 days before that fully happens. I also test my glucose levels and once into ketosis that stays about 65 to 70. My hunger is gone and it is smooth sailing. The mineral part is very important since your body does not store them and you will feel pretty bad if you go without.

I’m keto, OMAD, no seed oils either, still facing issues with recovery from PT exercises for knee arthritis. In fact, I barely manage to walk in spite of a Lot of PT exercises. Glutes improved a lot but then the issues moved to my mid back and calves. It just moves and doesn’t get solved. Losing hair. Fluid retention which keto usually solves but now does not. For exercise recovery and improvement, should I add more protein (moderate protein is recommended on keto) ? Go 2Mad ? Any advice ? Just decided I’m switching to ADF and actually exercise Less, hoping for some improvement.

Keto and intermittent fasting did help with weight loss for me, but avoiding carbs was really difficult. I put the weight back on. I had an MRI for my knee pain and my orthopedist said it was bone on bone. I had two different shots in my knee to relieve the pain but they only worked for a week or two. Doctor recommended surgery when I felt the pain was unbearable and I was seriously considering it. The pain would wake me up nights and I often felt like crying. I started taking collagen supplements, Bital Proteins (actually for my hair) and within four months the knee pain was gone. I’ve been taking it for two years now and still no pain. 😳 Can the body heal osteoarthritis itself?

The body uses 60-70% of its energy just for digestion. We sleep much better when we stop eating 3-4 before bed because the body doesn’t need to use as much energy to digest during sleep and it can use the energy to heal the body. Forgetting ketones, intermittent fasting allows the body to heal itself.

Fasting is the easiest way ever for me to diet. Although, I don’t consider it a diet. It is now a way of life for me. I have modified it since starting it. I now incorporate a few bites of fruits. Even though they have a lot of carbs, the benefits you get from the nutrients, outweigh the carbs. Compared to the Eat to Live diet, intermittent fasting is “a piece of cake”. If you do it though, buy some smaller clothes first!

Dr Mercola has recently changed his approach to nutrition, including his take on keto and intermittent fasting diets. He is increasing the use of carbohydrates in the form of fruits and vegetables and other carbs that he previously had recommended not eating. He is indicated he is actually increased his carbohydrate intake which is quite different from his previous recommendations.

I preached this to my sisters for 20 years. Eat your carbs in the morning. Avoid them after noon. Between that and moving after breakfast (a brisk walk) and you should have much less problems. Avoiding carbs altogether causes your body to think its starving and shuts down metabolism. I follow my nutritionist/dietitian suggestions, and she veers away from extreme diets.

It goes to show how much people eat when he says he FASTS for 3 hours before going to bed. Nobody who eats as late as 8PM and goes to bed at 11PM for example would describe that as fasting.
@ArtificialEntertainment377
@ArtificialEntertainment377 9 күн бұрын
You are correct. Possibly what the book refers to that he mentions is by not eating 3 hours before bed it would add to the length of non eating time when sleeping. Also the more time you stop eating before actual sleeping the more non hours of eating you would have because when sleeping you are not awake to be thinking about eating...unless you dream of food or of eating. When I'm awake I'm more likely to struggle not eating or think I need to eat when in reality I've found I've neglected drinking water, lemon water, tea, and am thirsty. Plus when around foods offered that I don't have at home I may tend to treat myself because I do enjoy eating. You "are wise and I wish you the best". Your comment has helped me. Some people may struggle more that others with fasting. I struggle on and off with it. If I can keep my mind busy with other things other than food it has helped. . . plus sometimes I think afterwords I "deserve" a treat and eat something that I know isn't that helpful that goes against helping health issues. It can be a constant battle but don't give up. One step and one moment at a time is better than giving up. Your comment was helpful to me as I got up a few hours after sleeping and fixed myself something to eat. Actually wasn't hungry and then after eating I realized my fluid intake had been limited during the day. I plan on doing better today. 😄👍

TODAYS GOAL FOR ME: Stay positive, don't give up. Don't get back up to eat shortly after putting myself to bed, strive to stay sleeping for a helpful needed sleep. Drink more water, lemon water, tea during the day for proper hydration. Be kind to myself and have patience with my future results. *** Blessings to you and yours for all that read this comment.
