Man I have watched a bunch of your videos over the years but this little segment while your pulling weeds is super motivational! It’s so true that we shouldn’t spend too much time worrying about things we can’t control! Thanks for this video! I needed to hear some of this stuff! 🤜🏻🤛🏻

I get this challange and while you got the money to get all the material and equipment you had to get the clients and hire reliable people that will be continuing this once your gone. I get you started from the ground up like most everyone who starts a biz. Thank you for doing this challange.

The only thing that I would maybe do different that might speed things up a little is I would use a weed eater to scalp those weeds to the ground. I know it might not be quite as good as pulling them but way faster. Then if you want to be thorough just spray weed killer after scalping them to the ground. Great work though. This is just how we do things down in Palm Harbor, Fl. Keep up the great videos! 💯
@TKayCO Жыл бұрын
I don’t see how that would work though? If you don’t pull weeds from the root they will grow back. All the weed killer products I have used work by coating the leaves. In most cases they’re supposed to be non destructive to other plants in the area as they don’t damage the roots. They kill the plant through direct contact with the leaves. What am I missing here? Are you just being lazy and doing a bad job or is your method just as effective and quicker? Edit.. also, wouldn’t a weed-eater also shred the weeds and spread all the little bits around the area spreading the problem?
@jeffgootjes8418 Жыл бұрын
It actually works really well and is alot faster. We do this all the time. When you spray glyphosate on the weeds it kills it roots and all. Follow it up with a granular weed preemergent and it’s even better. When you pull weeds you rarely get all of the roots. Alot of the small weeds get missed too. You still have to pull the weeds in and near shrubs and perennials because glyphosate will kill or damage plants. In most states you have to have a business pesticide license and be a certified applicator to do this for hire. I don’t think Mike is set up for spraying.
@bradleyb7210 Жыл бұрын
Ok TKayCO, everybody has their own way of doing things. I’ve been cutting grass down here in Florida for over 30 years now. And pulling a weed or two is fine but if you have to pull a large area weeds, that is way too time consuming! Most professionals will use a weedeater to take out a lot of weeds. Trust me on that one.
@TKayCO Жыл бұрын
@@bradleyb7210 I think you misunderstood me mate. I wasn’t saying you are wrong. Was just posing the question as I don’t see how the way you described would be effective. I’m no expert. Just curious as it would save me a lot of time if your way doesn’t cause lots of future weeds.

Playing devil's advocate and challenging you on the following:😂 - 40% growth on copilot could just mean you went from 5 customers to 7. - When you throw out the $30 rough figure, is that still safe factoring in P4P? I think I have heard you say guys who do well get $25-27 per hour so would think the $30 is a low estimate for your labor costs all in. - I think if anyone has any contention about you succeeding the challenge it will be because they were thinking you would set up a mowing business that had X mows per day that made $1500 daily. That being said, whether you make the money from projects or mowing, I think you still did it and showed that if someone is JUST focused on mowing they are missing some big potential revenue. I am very upset this series is almost over and DEMAND to know what comes next! I pay good money for these videos and...oh wait, I don't pay anything, do I?😂
@MikeAndes Жыл бұрын
1.) True. I have to be careful sharing specific numbers about copilot due to a very litigious competitor that has me in several legal processings currently 2.) Yes, our base pay is $18/hr at this location. The average for team is around $23-24 mostly because new routes aren’t as dense or price high as we would like 3.) Maybe one day. I would need to do that in Spring Rush to hit 150 or so mowing clients. We only got 20-30.

Not sure what the budget is like but use some back packs and chemical for the weeds. I hate seeing people pick them by hand. A company where I’m at lost a contract because people didn’t like seeing them pick weeds by hand. And they had back packs and just didn’t want to use it.

what about the 6 yards of mulch and the 5 hours you spent on the days work? by my maths thats 2.5 guys in field and roughly 520 profit or 208 per day per guy. still not bad.
@dalton18247 ай бұрын
I like the series but it's easy to brag about how many hours you worked outside of work and still made it successful when you know you just have to do it for 30 days. Makes it a lot easier to not get burned out when you know it's not endless.

As many as you can. Just try it out. Some people do 6 some people do 12. 8 seems to be sustainable for me but remember you will be spending at least another hour or 2 before or afterwards on other things so don’t burn yourself out.

You also didn’t include your wages because didnt you do a 3rd of the work most likely? So wouldn’t that be another $30x10 hrs=$300 lets say? If you hired that legit 3rd employee… that wouldve made your “profit” only $500. Which is not bad for a small business. Everyone is getting paid fairly well and money to grow! 😅👍
