I've been using a similar recipe for regular AP flour. I add baking powder, pinch of salt and a pinch of baking soda. I also warm up the heavy cream slightly in the microwave It makes a good biscuit with my afternoon coffee.
@RobynOnTheFarm11 күн бұрын
I make my own self rising flour that way, too! Do you think warming the cream changes the way these biscuits turn out? I usually try to have mine very cold, so I'll have to try that if you think it improves these. Thanks!
@Rhaspun11 күн бұрын
@@RobynOnTheFarm I saw a video with America's Test Kitchen. They had did it. I tried it out and I like the results. If it's too warm it can make the dough kind of thin. I settled on just slightly warm. There can still be a cooler zone in the heavy cream but I stir it to mix it to make the temperature uniform. I find that it lets me make the biscuits quicker.Not a lot of mixing required. ATK also suggested adding a pinch of baking soda.
@RobynOnTheFarm10 күн бұрын
That is great info, thank you so much! I will give it a try!

Can I change the milk to almond milk for Almond milk?
@RobynOnTheFarm6 күн бұрын
These biscuits need the fat from the cream (traditional biscuits call for butter and milk that this cream is a substitute for), and I’m assuming almond milk wouldn’t provide that. I’ve never made them that way but it could be worth experimenting with! Thanks so much for watching and for this great question!

What can you do for the "fat" part if you don't have HEAVY cream and want to make them with buttermilk ? I LOVE Buttermilk biscuits !!! Also, do you need to grease your pan for baking them ?
@RobynOnTheFarm19 күн бұрын
You can make them with buttermilk, butter, and self rising flour for 3 ingredient biscuits like I make here! kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4XSY56bbKerfMk I use milk in this recipe but you can definitely use buttermilk! I love buttermilk biscuits too, they’re the best! My cast iron is well seasoned so I can get away with not greasing but if you’re using new cast iron or a different kind of pan, buttering or oiling would probably be a good idea. It can always give you an even better buttered flavor!
