Love the description that you need to sweet talk the motor to get it started. First time I've heard that in my years of riding a 2 stroke, but it's 100% accurate. It does take a little trial and error to learn the sweet spot for just enough speed to turn the engine over.

Damn I thought I was gunna see a race :D I seriously recommend running a 2stroke kit on 20' wheels ; )
@theatom72647 жыл бұрын
I prefer 2 strokes because they are far more simpler to work on & can outlast the crappy transmissions that often come with the 4 stroke kits. Plus there are way more mods avalable. Having to mix oil with gas is worth it to me. 2 gallons of mixed gas can last me a long time. Plus it's super cheap to rebuild or replace an entire 2 stroke motor. 4 stroke motors by themselves cost as much or more than a complete 2 stroke kit & a transmission for it costs about as much as or more than the motor itself & usualy the motor outlasts the transmission on these 4 stroke motors. At least the transmission on a 2 stroke is built in & very easy to maintain & fix compared to 4 stroke transmissions.

I saw a review of a two-stroke on KZbin, the Crimson Tide 66/80 CC, and it talked about how you could only ride for 30 minutes at a time and you would have to stop and let the motor cooldown. That it was something inherent in the two-stroke, that it quickly overheats. Is that true? What about the four stroke, in that regard?
@Fred_the_19962 жыл бұрын
Nah it doesn't overheat that much, as long as you take it easy and don't exaggerate. The 4 stroke does heat up a lot less, but just take it easy, stop like once every hour and you're good. Or you could pour some water on the 2 stroke engine to cool it down lol

i bought a 2stroke 80 cc and i cant get the darn thing to run
@HughesMotorized8 жыл бұрын
+Austin Pyle You need spark, compression and fuel to run. Have to check those first. Some times the magneto coil is defective new. Might be wired wrong

4 strokes are the way to go. They are reliable and quiet and refined and smooth all of which the 2 strokes aren't. They might cost more initially but you save money and time by not having to go to the store for 2 stroke oil. They also don't stink or smoke as much as 2 strokes. And the power is very similar but the 4 stroke is easier to climb hills because it has more torque and the clutch can slip a little. It's also more convenient because id start the 4stroke and leave it on the porch to warm up with the 2 stroke you need to ride it down the block to get it started and the whole thing is inconvenient and takes time.

A well setup 2 stroke is solid. My daily rider starts up quick & easy. I do suggest the 4 strokes for noobs for all the reasons you offer. Good Luck & happy riding !

You also have to buy oil for 4 strokes as well
@waynerhea66496 жыл бұрын
@@daltonkenworthy8970 yeah but your not literally burning the oil it's just there to lubricate the parts and it last long
@andys49715 жыл бұрын
Yeah, a good quart of 4 stroke oil will last much longer than a quart of 2 stroke if ur really concerned about saving a few bucks in the long run

imporant to know that brakes vs engine goes along... you do not want children brakes on a v-8 for example.. it gotta match, and it has got to be SAFE! Not only for you, but imagine you run over a child one day, becaue you "like to be a rebel" haha... :D Nice video THUMBS UP! :)

Which engine do you recommend for attaching on a bike for joy riding through a neighborhood with a few steep hils at 45 degrees for at least a quarter mile?
@HughesMotorized7 жыл бұрын
4 stroke 7G w/ a 60 tooth sprocket

2 strokes are 49cc in Chinese numbers, 4 strokes are given American numbers
@aberakadabra12856 жыл бұрын
49cc kits are really about 47.8 & 80cc kits are about 66cc in reality . I've measured them both . I've found the flat top pistons versions are the beast :D

disc brakes are your best friend when motorizing a bicycle, 2 stroke, 4 stroke, or electric. bicycle brakes leave a lot to be desired. like the ability to stop, for one.
@HughesMotorized5 жыл бұрын
Many say bicycle disc brakes wear out pretty fast. I like a hub brake up front and coaster on the rear. I'm also not a speed demon nowadays. I putt around so no need for panic stops so much
@handyhippie65485 жыл бұрын
@@HughesMotorized i've put mid drive electric motors on a couple of bicycles, one is a 26" mountain bike with v brakes, and the other is a 20" x games motobike with disc. the disc brake bike stops a lot better than the one with rim brakes. i haven't had the disc brake one long enough to wear out the brake pads yet. they both have freewheels in the rear. i haven't tried a drum brake on a bicycle. mebbe the next one i'll try them.
