So Brooke helped strangers and New York. She didn’t bond with her son because of the father 🙄 a child can’t help being brought into the world and too continuously treat your son like he’s nothing is pathetic. So she’s some big hero lol okay. Her son may have not been a Astor but for his own mother to basically treat him like crap for men is sick. She abandoned her son twice and people wonder why he was the way he was. He just wanted his mothers love but she couldn’t give it him, but gave it to men

So that excuses Tony for abusing a woman with Alzheimer’s and preventing her from getting medication by lying to her that she was bankrupt? The only reason she escaped her abuse under the hands of her son was due to the efforts of her grandson Phillip, her man servant Chris Ely, her friends Annette de la Renta, Henry Kissinger, and David Rockefeller.

You seem to be placing more blame on Brooke than the father that abandoned him and married someone else. Brooke was a victim of domestic abuse in her first marriage to Tony’s father. And she readily admits she wasn’t the best mother but she didn’t treat him like crap. By the time she married Vincent Astor Tony was already married to his first wife and a diplomat. He was an adult. And this was the 1940s-1970s. An unmarried woman was doomed to be destitute. If she didn’t get married she would’ve been penniless. But even as a married woman she worked as an editor for vogue. And yes she was a hero to thousands of New Yorkers alleviating the burdens of poverty

Can't believe Vincent Astor gave all the money to his widow. I mean he have nephews, nieces, brothers and other blood relatives. Brooke is not an Astor, not even Tony

His fathers will didn’t include the second half son who was born AFTER John Jacob perished on the titanic. But Vincent did release $400 million dollars to his half brother. And he didn’t think his sister was biologically an Astor and was merely a bastard born of his mothers infidelity. The only other Astor Vincent liked was his British cousin Lord Astor with who he joint owned the Waldorf Astoria

I remember growing up and knowing who Brook Astor was, the history and social standing. I admired her. I fell bad for the son. I think the betrayal here was by Jeff. They didn’t mention the second grandson who stood by his father as best he could.

She was wrong for neglecting her son over a man. That would piss me off too. But she didn't have to leave him her money.

The way she treated him alienated him and evaluate him. I almost can’t blame him for what he did. And the grandson was doing what he was doing because he was hoping that he could find a part of Emeril gold

Well….no. That’s not what happened. Tony was a monster. Since Brooke was 97 and suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s he kept her in filth. And despite the fact that Brooke was prone to wandering and the request and often ended up in the streets confused. They refused to install a gate because it would “lower the property value” of Brooke’s 5th avenue apartment. Not only that but she was forced to sleep on a sofa that her two dachshunds peed on because he fired the dog Walker. He fired the nurses when they complained about the treatment. He fired Brooke’s butler of over 30 years. And her driver. And this is despite there being over $200 million dollars being in the Astor trust. And the grandson saw the appalling conditions and informed Brooke’s friends Annette de la Renta, Henry Kissinger, and David Rockefeller who freed her from captivity

“Look, I brought you a coat.” 😂 thanks lady. How ‘bout you give her one of those rings instead? Gotta love how normal people love to act like filthy rich people giving breadcrumbs compared to their ridiculous excesses somehow ISN’T about themselves at the end of the day. Even Barbara said she sure does “like to collect people.”

But why? What would that lady do with the ring? She’s homeless. A coat is far more utilitarian than a ring.

Wow.... when Brooke said tony wasn’t an Astor (so he wouldn’t inherit anything after her death) that kinda stung a little bit.

@henrylivingstone2971 2 жыл бұрын
@@bwoww13 Yes it does matter. He isn’t an Astor. She is. She’s entitled to do anything she wants with her money. She’s not obligated by any legality to relinquish her financial property and holdings to her son. And it’s not like she was throwing it away. She was donating her fortune for charitable deeds and good causes, isn’t that commendable? She helped the homeless, the hungry, the unclothed, the sick with her fortune. Also he doesn’t deserve anything considering he and his awful wife swindled millions of dollars in jewels, cash, and property from a dementia riddled 105 year old woman. They kept her sleeping in a couch festering with urine grime and feces. He doesn’t deserve anything but a jail sentence which is what he got.

Let's not forget Alexandra Astor. Brooke never helped her family...
@henrylivingstone2971
@henrylivingstone2971 16 күн бұрын
Kind of a nonsense statement. Alexandra’s family could’ve sold the massive 420 acre estate but the only reason they didn’t is because they wanted to “maintain the illusion of wealth” because it was “part of their identity”. That’s nonsense. You don’t get that luxury if you’re living in poverty. Not only that but Vincent Astor hated his extended family. Except for Lord Astor part of the British Astors.
@ellaw356
@ellaw356 2 жыл бұрын
I’m sure Vincent Astor had a Will that would have given other blood relatives some money. I would think in that case why would she care. I think she got what was coming and so did her son. He should have just stayed out of her life.
@henrylivingstone2971
@henrylivingstone2971 16 күн бұрын
He didn’t. In fact the opposite. He HATED his extended family except for Lord Viscount Astor, he liked him and promised him the Astor archives. They also joint owned the Waldorf Astoria. But he hated his half brother and half sister calling them bastards of marital infidelity. And lucky for him his father John Jacob Astor didn’t write them into his Will before he perished on the RMS Titanic. Not only that but after Vincent passed away they did try to sue Astor’s estate but the jury awarded Brooke the entire estate because Vincent had already given him the equivalent of $400 million.
