The fruit trees are slowly coming to life. I'm planting some tomato plants in Johannes' green house. I pick up the wood for the deck and build the frame.

Hey guys, some answers on the comments. I'm still waiting for the permit, that's why I can't work on the cabins. Besides that this is not just about the renovating the cabins, but also make the land habitable, that's why running water, gardening and some landscaping were priorities. The tent is a temporary living space, but might be a guest space for summer in the future. Same as the inner cabin, temporary for now, but I can use it for other purposes elsewhere in the future. The inner cabin is going to be built on a trailer eventually. The camper is 1988 Hymer, built on a Peugeot J5. I would drive it up to the cabins, if the track wasn't too narrow and steep. It's about 600m elevation change between the parking and the cabins. Thanks for tuning in!

You know this video is a bit longer than usual... it moved slowly. By the end, however, I was weeping because of the sheer craftsmanship and beauty of your deck foundation. God bless you, young man; may He guard and bless all your worthwhile endeavors. [Most importantly, tho - I pray for your Salvation in Christ Jesus❣️He's coming for His own soon, and it'll be awesome to be delivered from the chaos bearing-down on the earth. Blessings.]

Thank you for sharing our slice of the Alps with the world in such a captivating and graceful manner. Your videos portray this area the way I see and feel about here. My husband always says how nicely you promote our valleys and we really appreciate your kind words and caring hard work. Wonderful to see your place having new life breathed into it. We run have a small mountain inn just over the mountain from you in Val Chisone and received a couple of bookings over the Easter holidays in part because they had been watching your videos and were drawn to visit here from London and Holland. So for that we thank you as well. Perhaps one day we shall meet. We are enjoying your journey and we wish you well. Marla and Fabrizio.

When my sister and I were less than 5 years old, my mother would take us outside to pick the lily of the valley for the kitchen table. It has a sweet, delicate fragrance. She had us sing that little "round" with her: "White coral bells upon a slender stalk, lily of the valley line the garden walk. Oh how I wish that I could hear them ring. That will happen only when the fairies sing." More evidence that you live in another realm, Martijn. And yes, you are an inspiration, for me, that's primarily because of your calm, pleasant "just learn and do it," attitude. 'Wishing you well.

It occurred to me this week that, in creating these videos, there will never be a question about what has happened in this spot, on this mountainside. This is an enormous gift to those who will follow in your footsteps. No more ruins without answers. Rather, a caring footprint others might use to carry on. They will understand your thoughts, the process and even the materials you used! It's a gift. I too have lily of the valley (semi-invasive so far) but the scent of the flowers is heavenly for a brief time. Looking forward to future videos...

Lily of the Valley spread by rhizomes (I think) and do not have dense root networks like many plants have; this makes it relatively easy to manage them. Their fragrance should be lovely when they're in full bloom.

I never write comments but your found of lily of the valley prompted me. In France, it is a tradition to offer a sprig of the lily of the valley to your friends and those you care about. That day is a holiday and regular people can sell lily of the valley without a license. Apparently Americans had a similar long gone tradition of leaving bouquets at friend's door steps on May day too (I'm a french immigrant there). I am sure that by now you are surrounded by the sweet smell of the blooms. I have struggled to grow it without success for many years both in WA and CA state because I miss it so! You seem to be the kind of a guy who does not take nature for granted so although it is invasive where you are, you are a very lucky guy! :). My husband and I don't miss a beat of your adventure, thank you for all your efforts to not be selfish and share what you are experiencing. Elysabeth and Marcel Queffelec

That young chestnut tree makes me so happy! Here in N. America, nearly all chestnut trees were wiped out in the early 20th century.

That is a very well constructed base for your deck. Incredible to see the new spring growth on the mountain.

Love watching your journey. Is there anything you can't do because you seem to be well educated, crafty, smart, healthy, strong, a good cook, etc. What did I leave out...🙄oh yes a handsome man. 🥰🤩 Thanks for sharing your story with us. The birds sound happy to have you in their neck of the woods.

How magical to have so much Lily of the Valley covering your hills! My spring gardens in May are filled with their beautiful flowers and heavenly scent. Every year I pick a bouquet of them to grace our dining table. But they are so fragile and only last a few days.

Theyre also poisonous, every part of the plant is toxic, especially the flowers and leaves. Eating as little as two leaves can already lead to respiratory failure and death within a couple of days. So be careful when putting them in your house especially if you have kids and/or pets. They ARE beautiful though :)

Poisonous though, be careful. They grow in Canada too. Love this series, watching end to end but don't ever want them to end.

Beginning from the first, every video is like take of fresh air. No sounds of war or air siren, just wonderful scenery and steady progress. Whole different perspective. You are an incredible man, in control of your own life. And I love that after all achievements you didn't stop, and continue set an example of making goals and reaching them. Good luck Martijn!

The best I’ve seen on KZbin so far, definitely. Beautiful imagery, great setting, great project. It is so … how can I put it .. calming, to watch you work and proceed. I would love every episode to be twice as long, even if you showed no more content - and that’s why I think you should skip the time lapses. No necessity, I don't think those who are following you will ever be bored by being privileged to watch you work :-) Thanks a lot and keep up the good work!

The spring landscape is an incredible change after the winter vista. The bird song is so beautiful as are your drone shots watching the sun come up. Did you know that Lily of the valley flowers become a beautiful and famous perfume? I wonder if the perfume of the flowers will be noticeable the more that bloom? You are such a trooper, Martijn, working from dawn to dusk and I watch with anticipation the formation of your dream. Thank you for sharing it with such creativity.
