I have never run in my life. I’m 51 and over the last year and half I have worked hard to lose 60 pounds. Today I was inspired to try running and found this awesome video. This is exactly what I needed to learn the correct techniques. On my first attempt this morning I did 20 minutes at 4.0. I would have never thought I could do this. I now have a goal to get to 60 mins.

I do 20 mins of walking after strength training. Should I include running on those days or do it on cardio days only?

The jogging bit feels a bit uncomfortable, like it's easier to walk? I've only been doing this for five days, does it get harder before it gets easier? I thought I'd be able to do like 2minutes running by now, am I being overly ambitious 😅

It's always going to be easier to walk! Running is one of the best ways to get cardiovascular training as it's extremely quick to raise your heart rate and start utilizing energy. I typically run 2-3 miles a day and there's still some days where I wasn't ready while other days I can run with minimal breaks. Practice proper hydration before hand(all day), A nutritious snack(banana, orange, apple, etc.) half hour before, and a healthy source of protein post run to feed your muscles. This will help your body be ready consistently for exercise.
