This 20-minute indoor walking workout will help improve your cardiovascular health by getting your heart rate up with exercises that work your entire body including your legs, glutes, core, and upper body. Perfect for seniors and beginner exercisers. There are about 2400 steps in this video.
Marching or walking in place is the foundation for this workout. Fun dance moves mix things up. These exercises will also work on your balance and coordination, which is important to prevent falls, the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries among seniors.

I started your 20-minute walk last week. So far, I only missed one day. I am 80 years old and was not brought up with exercise and I really genuinely dislike to work out. So I took what I thought would be the shortest and easiest workout to do. I still struggle to turn on my iPad in the morning but I am proud when I have done the 20 minutes, thanks to you. I will graduate to one of your other programs once I am fully competent with this one. Thanks again to you and your inspiring mom.

I am 75 and like Suzanne - not brought up to exercise, and I, too, genuinely dislike working out. Over the years I have tried, and given up, on many exercise videos. But, I have been using yours regularly for about a month now and am really enjoying your work outs. Thank you so much!

Very nice, gentle workout. However, aren't you supposed to lock your upper arms to your sides and your elbows to your waist when doing bicep curls?

Glad you enjoyed it. Since you are walking, it is fine to do the bicep curl with your arms in a natural position.

When you are doing the heel touch movement, how do you make your arms go up and down twice as fast as your feet? I get all tangled up when I try to do that.

Dear Active Mom and Daughter, Thank you so much for your series of videos. A year ago, I could run, skip, dance like a kid, then I took a bad fall and broke my leg bones just above my ankle. I am 76 years old, and lost a lot of ground in muscle mass, strength, coordination, breathing capacity. I found your videos this week, and they are just perfect for where I am at. I can already tell that I am getting stronger and more coordinated. I love how you two interact. Great support for each other, lovely.

Same here...I had a fracture in toe finger 3 months back...but wearing shoes and having a walk makes my finger pain...but your moves didn't make me so struggle and have pain ...at the same time I had sweated a lot...

SO glad I have discovered you. I am 89 years old and have done at least one of your three walking workouts every day. Love the banter between you and your mom. I walk AT LEAST 6,000 steps EVERY day. Have gone79 days without missing my 6,000+ steps, more often 7,000 or 8,000 steps a day. What I don't do with you I do outside no matter what the weather.

I love this! So happy I found it. I started it just 3 weeks ago. I am 64 years old and would rather walk in place during many days of bad cold weather in the Northeast. I love that it is not just 20 minutes of walking in place. such a variety with the 4 different sets (done 2x each) - the 20 minutes fly by! i started out with the 10 minute walking in place for several weeks. I love the mother and daughter team. I smile a lot during this due to their friendly voices. I do this every day before I leave for work - I didn't think I could do it - no time, etc. but I found the time, now if there is an occasional day I can't do it, I hate the feeling that I didn't do it! THANK YOU!! If anyone is hesitant to try it don't be. you will love it.

Today is my first day and I’m 58 years old and haven’t been active for a very long time. Weight gain didn’t help. This was great and watching your mom do this inspires me to do this too. Feels great and plan on doing this workout at least once a day. Thank you so much.

I did the beginner’s exercise the other day and I need a little challenge so I started this 20 min walking exercise and I feel good. I has arthritis and I have an excuse that when I exercise my knee will hurt more. I did not have knee pain and I will continue doing this with you guys. Thank you.

Yep this has been really great the 10 min is also good. I’ve had a few medical issues and this has been the perfect get back into the groove workouts. Your explanations are great and your mom is a hoot. Just got my mother in law engaged in the hand exercises to hopefully help with carpal tunnel. Also enjoy the posture one wish you’d take us through the whole rotation if that exercise. Keep them coming.

Just love you ladies. Glad i found a exercise that works with my needs. Yesterday, I felt so good after warm up and 20 minute walk. I painted my door in my apartment and painted extra 4 doors. You mother and daughter rocks. This really helps me😅

We applaud you for making a commitment to get stronger! You're 86-years-young! Since you have not exercised in a long while, it is normal that shortness of breath happens after a short distance. But by starting and staying with exercise, you can improve your strength and endurance. It is great that you check with your doctor first on the best way to build strength. I am 50, but have been chronically ill for about 10 years. About the only exercise I can tolerate is going for walks, so now that it is winter, I always struggle with what to do since it is too cold to walk outside. This video is exactly what I needed! I knew nothing about exercise and had no interest in it, then my church needed someone to fill in with a Senior citizens group that meets once a week and they do exercise. I was asked to try leading the ladies and after I reluctantly accepted the challenge, I found your channel and let me tell you, I love you and your mom's routines and so does my group. Good afternoon Miss Iko and April, I wanted to let you all know that you all have been helping me alot. I have not fallen any more. Earlier this year when I went to my Primary Care Doctor I showed him your KZbin. He told me to keep up the good work. So I wanted to Thank you all very much. I even have my best friend doing the exercises. I have osteoporosis. My Rheumatologist said that maybe some of these exercises may help me. I also wanted to let your Mother know that she reminds me of my Mother. My mother passed away in 2016. My mother was very energetic. So was my Father. He passed away in 2000. Much better than walking outside, for me, but I think I'd still get bored and give up after 5 minutes lol. I've tried walking up and down the length of my living room but always stop after about 20 lengths. Very tedious.

After doing the warm up exercises, I would do the 10 minute walking workout, but today I went to the 20 minute walking workout and I did it! I didn't know I had the strength or stamina to finish it or ever keep up with you young ladies. But I did and I am so proud of myself. Even my bad knee didn't stop me from doing it. I really needed to do this, and I'm thrilled you've made this video. Exercising outside is not possible for me, but in my living room, it is just right. I'm a senior who wants to be fitter but lacks willpower. I'm sure I'll get there with the help of your videos 😊😊

Thank You for doing this I am 63. I have a bad back along with a few other health issues. I am trying to get back in some sort of shape. I have some stretching exercise videos. I needed something to mix it up. I love walking around my neighborhood. Sometimes it’s way too hot! I am in Texas with 100 degree weather already in the month of May! I have been looking for a good alternative and I enjoyed this. Love it even more that you have your mother with you. I have to say that when I walk in my neighborhood I am not getting the arm exercising. I think if I was moving my arms around while walking I would have people calling the police 😂😂. I have a treadmill but I do not enjoy it. I prefer doing the different moves. Also a lot of the walking videos are pretty aggressive even the beginner ones. This video will help me move when It’s too hot and it will help me walk when I don’t want to 😂 Thank You

So happy you found us! The ultimate goal is to reach the CDC-recommended 150 minutes of moderate cardio work and two strength training sessions that build muscle overall. But if you are just starting out, no problem. You should build up to these goals gradually. Always check with your doctor to make sure exercise is ok for you. Your body gains and loses weight where it wants to. Everyone is different and hormones and menopause can affect this as well. Losing pounds at your waist and overall occurs when you decrease calories through a healthy diet and burn calories with exercise. One pound equals 3500 calories so to lose one pound of fat, you must decrease or burn calories in this amount. (Example: Decreasing calories by 500 each day for 7 days will equal the loss of one pound.) Since you completed the 20 minute walking workout, in Week 1, I recommend doing any of our 20 minute workouts five days, and one or two strength workouts (kzbin.info/aero/PLjv8dGZeugtVKXjjewORapFjMqHj25mje) - make sure to have at least one day of rest between strength sessions; and stretching everyday (Choose from this list bit.ly/3onZUT1); Week 2 - continue with Week 1 exercises or try 30 minute workout on at least 2 days.
