In this recumbent trike vlog, Endre takes up a huge challenge with his Steintrike Wild One: to be the first recumbent trike rider to finish an official BRM (Brevet des Randonneurs Mondiaux) in Serbia! He decided to participate in a jubilar BRM event to celebrate the 100-year-anniversary of the existence of brevets, and ride 200 km in under 13 H 30". A bonus is that the brevet started from the hometown of Steintrikes, and we had a very special person come to support him!
In order to be faster on his Steintrikes Wild One trike, he decided to switch the rear wheel from 20" to 26", and you can see the whole process in our previous video:

well done, mate. That is a very long way. I love how you can ride the trike, eat an ice cream, and do the filming all at the same time. Really cute to see the kids run after you at the start.

Thank you! Multitasking is so much easier on the trike than on an upright bike, at least there are no balance issues. 😀 The kids are always very supportive, it is so good to see them!

WOW! Congratulations on your win!! That's an awesome achievement. Was the wind blowing against you a lot? But at least it didn't rain. And best of all, your family was there to greet you at the finish.

Thank you! Yes, there was a lot of wind, frontal for most of the day (which unfortunately you can also hear in the audio noise), but otherwise the weather and the temperature was perfect for a ride. The kids were so happy in the end, it was very cool!

Here in Indiana, USA, I had to convert to miles.....wow! That's a long ride. Thank you for sharing it. I always enjoy your videos.

Thank you! Yes, we sometimes forget that many people use miles and not kilometers. It is the same for us when we see a distance in miles, we always have to convert to really understand the magnitude.
@gmaneis
@gmaneis 2 жыл бұрын
@@bici.family The conversions are kind of fun, but we Americans are in the huge minority, long overdue to measure things the way most humans do! 16 cups, 16 ounces? Crazy! Why not 10? So much easier! Anyway, thanks again for sharing your fun.:-)

Considering steintrikes and velomotion are made in Serbia, and its the city of Steintrikes, surprised there are not more bents
@bici.family
@bici.family 2 жыл бұрын
It is strange, indeed, but for some reason bents are not very popular around here. I think it's because people consider riding them is more dangerous than upright bikes because they are lower to the ground, and as we don't have dedicated bike trails around here, there is always a matter of car traffic...

Whaw, 200 km in 10,5 hours. Endre pushed his trike real hard. I gues you where in a hurry completing the tour just to see the enthusiastic kids at the finish line 😃 Congratulations on this big achievement. My record is just over 100 km in one day. You seemed to be on your own for most of the race. How did you manage not getting lost on such a long trip?
@bici.family
@bici.family 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It was my personal record on the trike as well, previously I did 200 km brevets on a regular bike, and this time I was even faster than before. I was probably also better prepared for the challenge this year. We received a gpx of the route before the start of the race, and I was also already familiar with most of the roads in the Serbian part, and the Hungarian part was also straightforward, there were not many possibilities to get lost. At the control points I did meet other participants, but there I was too busy and forgot to film it.

Well done - both the ride and the filming of the ride. Two questions that are related - was yours the only trike in the event? From the video it looks like you were by yourself all of the route. Dld it bother you to be alone?

It was well worth swapping out that rear wheel for the 26" job. Well done. Very impressed. How was walking the next day?! 👏 😁

Hahaha, thank you! I was OK the next day, I was well prepared this time so there were no big problems. I think one of the big advantages of riding a trike is that you are never so tired and hurting like you are sometimes on a regular bike after a long ride.

How did you navigate the track? Do they put up signs before?
@karlInSanDiego
@karlInSanDiego 2 жыл бұрын
So, Enders, is it rolling more easily with the 26" wheel at the back (less rolling resistance)? Will you be keeping it in that configuration? Hopefully that long ride gave you a sense of how it rides differently if it does. Did you use a relatively high tire pressures to reduce rolling resistance and let the suspension more of the vibration absorbsion?
