We picked up a cat N MX5 NC from Copart earlier this year for £620 with the fees. Only a 1.8, but a genuine 74,000 miles, heated leather, and in really nice condition apart from two dented wings and a scuffed bumper. Runs like a sewing machine and drives lovely. Repaired it with used parts in colour, did a bit of welding on one rear sill and inner arch (they do rot, but it’s very easy to repair if you can weld), and it went through the MOT with advisories only on a slightly binding brake (replaced the caliper) and slightly worn rear discs. It’s been a very reliable daily driver ever since. With the repairs, the MOT and installing £400 worth of CarPlay stereo, it owes us less than £1,800. So much car for the money.

Lot of opinions from a lot of people. Videos "feeling" the same when they aren't the same is legit an issue. If I know half of what you're going to do to a car before you start, then that's half a video I don't need to watch. The larger series need way more lead time; that would prevent the issue of getting behind either on editing or on the work that needs to be done to the cars in the video. The aim of the channel needs to be more refined. If it's not about doing the work and rather sending the car off to someone (betty getting pd'd), then you're limited to being a car documentary channel; basically here's one someone made earlier but with a project car. And the "new dad" excuse kinda doesn't wash when you have several people under you who don't have day jobs aside from this specific content creation. It's ok to let go and take some steps back Alex, especially for your first kid. The videos are good, but it's Year 3, there needs to be some longer range planning to secure the future of the channel and content. You can only fly by the seat of your pants for so long...

Here in Sweden a facelift MX5 NC is 12 000€...whats up with UK car prices...

UK car market has always been a unique bubble of low prices, partly because they are Right hand drive so the rest of Europe doesn't want them, keeping prices really low. Insurance can be really expensive though for young drivers.

Why aren’t there any videos on the new 840i, the 360, or 993? Every video seems to be: 1. Buy the same 3 budget cars which have already been featured on every other cheap car challenge. 2. Poke rust holes with a long screwdriver. 3. Wobble the wheels showing play in bushes. 4. Alex going over the top which is always a bit cringe. 5. Car vertical advert 6. Get loads of free stuff 7. Fit BC coil-overs 8. Drive the cars around a bit. More interesting content please.

Sorry guys, I genuinely look forward to the channel and my earlier comment might have been perceived as me being a bit of a dick. Nonetheless it’s all becoming a bit samey. The single best thing out of your stable is TDC. I can’t begin to imagine how difficult it is to generate fresh new material for a bunch of ingrates like me, but Nurburgring, mx5’s, bmw and racing coil overs makes me switch off. Maybe the KZbin shitbox/car repair market is slightly over saturated at the moment making it increasingly difficult to be unique? With a finite budget I know how hard it must be to ideate. Anyway, lots of love for the new arrival. Hope you get some fresh inspiration soon.

@thesilentgametestr2 ай бұрын
the nurb is like the daddy of all race tracks or least ones you can drive to. it might be samey with the upgrades, but what is the point of partners if you arent going to use their products? i have never had coilovers and could never justify spending more than £500-600, but the BC they use are in the thousands and one of the best you can buy, so it makes sense to keep using them if BC still happy to ship them. the tyres though from that company could be changed. im sure their tyres are good, but much better well known brands.
@alistairinnes54392 ай бұрын
I think you're missing the point of my comment. I genuinely love the channel, but they are becoming increasingly synonymous with Nurburgring, BMW and MX5's. Look at the common themes in the sentiment below. I'm not a keyboard warrior and if I could think of some cost effective amazing ideas for the boys to do next should do next I'd share them. I just wanted to try and deliver constructive feedback, whilst acknowledging the arrival of a newborn. If I want to see BMW's I watch Sreten.
@Goves102 ай бұрын
@@thesilentgametestr You are completely missing the point. The point is that they do nothing to the cars other than slap BC coilovers, some wheels some times do a oil change and brake changes and then off they go to the ring. It's literally the same content every time with slightly different cars because even that It's almost 70% of the time BMW's, Mini's and now MX-5's again. Even in this episode it was ridiculous, the dude said he liked a Mr2 which is 20x more interesting than any of those options and they go "Nah, shit cars let's go for BMW's or a MX-5". I have a fucking MX-5 and used to own a BMW and even I am sick of watching them wank off to shitty BMW's all the fucking time

I think some people have missed the point of this video. It wasn't about starting a new series, or showing a different car. It was simply doing something nice for someone and showing appreciation.
