I cut a new gasket myself by tracing the old one. I replaced the O-ring on the solenoid which made the gasket leak then I put my gasket on, now it seems the VVT is leaking. As I replaced the cam seals when I did the timing belt. I even took off the timing belt again to ensure the cam seal was dry. Great video. I should change the solenoid to a new one.

The gasket may be too big, try the dealer for the gasket. It may be 6-10 bucks. Also make sure the surface is free of the old gasket and the engine surface is free of any imperfections, pits scratches etc. if you have an imperfect surface you can get it machined or use rtv to fill in the imperfections and then use a oem gasket. It can also be the surface of the solenoid too if it has any imperfections in the surface. But good luck, I left my old gasket on to avoid such issues.

What about oil leaking occurring.... my vvt is being replaced as this was seen as a symptom? My car seemed to run fine. Oil changed every 10k. No check light error

My guess is that it froze and then blew out the gasket. also could have a bad seal. it could just have been the seal or o ring, if you didn't get a code related to the VVT.

just noticed the timing on the oil change and that is extremely high. if you're using conventional oil, it should be every 3k. Semi every 5k Full 8K. I've used all and still change every at 3k. I pay attention to the sound of the engine. You can hear the valve a little more when the oil thins. That interval schedule would definitely cause slug build thus causing issues to components. keep your oil clean and new.

Mine has a rattle when idle, when I disconect the plug for the vvt it stops. Does that mean that my solenoid just fails or the gear has to be replaced?

Can’t answer 100%. But in most cases these freeze up. You can pull it and see if it comes apart.

Valve control in correlation to timing, So as it clogs it becomes less efficient and communicative.
