Thank you for an in-depth video on how to repair the power steering hose. I'm just a girl 🎀and didn't know anything about how to fix the leak until watching this.

Just did this on my 03 civic lx, man i cut the damn aluminum hose going to the rack and pinion like you! And i just put a new pressure switch on the new hose and put it all in there! And dude i use the same power steering fluid as you too! This is the first time i saw your video, literally minutes after doing it myself! Its good to see reaffirmation brotha!!!!! My leak was under the hose where the pressure switch is, whining power steering pump, low fluid, and would get whiffs of the fluid.

At 2:11 I thought you were just being lazy by cutting the power steering line - then I saw how much torque you had to use to remove the nut - I changed my opinion to genius- well done - I would have struggled by using a little line wrench - what was the brand of torque wrench you used - the small one that went down to 8lb

Always thought having those wingbolts was a little weird. And a pain when they're stuck.

IDK why they were there, I was maintaining my "Civic" (it was Domani of 2nd gen) Japan-made, it didn't have any of these. Had Honda replaced them in that generation, or that's just a local American story? BTW, those cars (JDM 95-00 Civics) had 3 belts instead of 2 in this gen (PS, AC, Gen (Alt if you wish)), so maybe that's a generation feature.

The 14mm on the rack and pinion will not come off for me. Every 14mm wrench, socket, and crows foot ive tried just spins on the thing. Can't exactly fit a pipe wrench in there either. Any tips? Kinda screwed until this comes out.

@@RustBeltAuto yes and it fits it but it takes so much force to even attempt to move it that it slides on the nut even though it technically fits it. It's not totally stripped yet but a few more attempts and it would be. I've been soaking it in wd-40 plus the power steering fluid leaking from it.

So I managed to take everything out, put all new hoses in, a new belt, new fluid. I drove my car about 20 miles alltogether and the whole time it was making a clicking noise. When I stopped at a gas station the car wouldn't start unless I really gave it gas and driving it like that and stopping it wanted to die. In my driveway now tried readjusting the belt but to no avail. Just won't start now. The original power steering pump is still in there if that's any help.

you had mentioned you have built and built and built bikes back in your day. & I'm not talking bicycles.. what can you do with a 4 stroke, single cylinder motor? just curious
@RustBeltAuto

Whatever I want 😊. I have owned, and built Harley's, crotch rockets, dirtbikes, wheelers, ETC. Now I ride pedal bikes, because I think it's cooler. It's easier to get away with breaking the law, don't have to worry about stupid stuff, and don't need a license, gas, or insurance.

@Rust Belt Auto maybe im too young to appreciate a pedal bike. gas blowing up has a way cooler sound than exercising my legs. what kind of horsepower can you get from a 4stroke, single cylinder motor? its got like 14 hp & its a 5speed
@RustBeltAuto
@RustBeltAuto 2 жыл бұрын
@@Eric-tc9mh almost nothing. Go bigger CC engine. Unless you do something stupid like forced induction, or nitrous. I wouldn't recommend that.
