2003 Honda Accord Glove Compartment Box Light Bulb Replacement

Video on replacing the light bulb in the glove compartment of the 2003 Honda Accord. Model year from the 7th generation style of Accords, so these steps should apply to model years 2003-2007 and likely to other generation models as well. How hard would it be to add a switch in the glove compartment if you wanted the glove box light to be off when the box is closed but headlights are on?

Thanks for this video, I wasn’t even aware I had a light there (which was blown out). I replaced it and noticed it’s always on when the headlights are on regardless of if the glove box is open or closed. Is this normal? Isn’t there a micro-switch somewhere to keep it off if the lid is closed?

Someone else did a video on this exact issue. They put a tiny cap on the plunger that indicates when the glovebox is closed. Because before it does not make contact.

You can't touch the bulb with your bare hand, unless you want to replace it frequently. Always use glove to do that!!!

I don't disagree, gloves are great to keep the bulb clean from oils and what-not. I do make sure my hands are reasonably clean from contaminants however and in many cases, these bulbs are robust, even if they don't look it. That is, I've not had to re-replace any of my replacement bulbs yet. But yeah, do use gloves if you have them, especially those nice, clean disposables!

Sure, gloves are a good idea for a headlight bulb, but it's completely unnecessary for a tiny interior bulb like the glove box light. It doesn't get anywhere near hot enough for oils to do any damage.
