I was told it was illegal to do an LED headlight swap without changing the housing. Something about the reflectors needing to be optimized for LEDs. I'm looking to do a similar conversion on an '04 Dakota

As long as they are adjusted properly, you'll be fine. The stock reflectors have a deflector for high beams built into the housing plus the way the dual LEDs are setup like the ones he used are staggered back to give accurate high beam. Plus it'll be no brighter than the new Audi's BMWs etc that are 3x brighter than anything out there from the factory. Plus with the OEM lens it wont be as bright. I got mine with clear lenses so it wouldnt negate any of the lumen brightness and just aligned them slightly down from the center line doing alignment being a truck

@@CarNGuitarDude thank you man I've been looking for some good LED headlights since halogens don't light up the road for me

yeah Amazon where i got mine, just have to read up on what they say is the Lumens. They might say 20k lumens but thats for two bulbs on high beam so figure 10k each on high and maybe 6-7k on low beam.

Always, always. always check to see if the new bulb works correctly before putting everything back together...unless you like taking things back apart again. LEDs draw less current than halogen bulbs so it is common to get what is called "hyper flashing" due to a fault where the TIPM/BCM thinks the low current is due to a burned out bulb. If you run across that problem then you will need some load resistors.
