Had same problem with 2021 Silverado 2500. I had incorrectly assumed the horrible clunking noise was just a “feature” of the door despite that not happening on any other door. There is a single machine screw w/ 10mm head securing it to the door frame. This screw had apparently worked loose over time and I had the extreme good fortune to notice when it came completely out and fell to the ground. I was able to use vise grips to grab the link and pull it out to the 2nd detent position and then I was able to reinstall the screw. To my amazement, no more noise opening/closing the door. I can only conclude the noise was because of the misalignment as the screw worked loose. It would probably be a very good idea to apply locktite to the screw and reinstall.

That is terrible that a new truck had loose bolts.

@@mossman381 Yeah, I wouldn't expect it on 3 YO truck with under 18,000 miles. I watched your video thinking I'd have to replace the door check; although it's inexpensive, it looks like removing the door panel can be a PITA. Glad I didn't have to. Thanks for the video.

Being a Toyota man and having dealt with chevy for a month, I can tell you that paying extra for gm crap - yes, crap! - makes no sense whatsoever simply because it's the same chinese shit you can buy for a fraction of the cost.

How many miles on this GM piece of crap??
@nofyfb1232 жыл бұрын
@@mossman381 Just 130K. And - by gm standards - it is in perfect shape.

The truck in the video had around 200k miles. It's hard to feel sorry for you when you complain about a truck with over 100k miles. You will have to start doing repairs after 100k miles. I have had a Silverado 2500HD with 260k miles. Dad run his 2004 Duramax to around 400k miles. We have a 2001 Tahoe with just over 100k miles now. It has had brakes, brake lines, tires and a heater module. I think that is pretty good but I expect other issues as it gets older. That's the way it goes. I have only had GM but I would guess that all manufactures start having problems at around 100k miles. If you want no repair bills go buy new or low mileage. That is why my latest truck is a 2009 with 66k miles. I am sick of repairing older high mileage stuff.

@@mossman381 That's EXACTLY my point: you judge by detroit standards. I judge by Toyota standards. I did not touch ANYTHING until my 2004 4Runner hit 150K+. Granted, after that - over the next 100K+, I replaced AC condenser, radiator, front calipers/wheel bearings, inner tie rod ends, one ignition coil, a couple of O2 sensors, and inner tie rod ends. But - BUT! - first, once done, it never happens again and second, it takes gm to mount wiring harnesses to wheel well splash guards. Your dad ran Duramax to 400,00 miles because Duramax is NOT gm! How many other "little things" did he deal with? To clarify: tie rods, idler arm, alternator, fuel pump, instrument cluster, fuel/brake lines, fuel pump, etc. are NOT maintenance items.
@mossman3812 жыл бұрын
If Toyota was so great why did you leave them?? The Duramax had it's issues during the 400k miles. Actually dad didn't really fix everything but the truck kept going. After the 400k miles and a coolant leak into the oil there were so many little things wrong that I considered the truck junk. Which is why it was sold. His new 2011 has over 200k miles. It has had brakes, tires, wheel bearings, spark plugs and a radiator. I don't know how you could complain about that. 200k miles is a lot of miles. I would like to see your Toyota tow a 10k lbs trailer after 200k miles. I can't say GM is perfect. Nobody is, but I have been happy with everything we have had. Again, I got a low mileage truck this last time because I was sick of working on older higher mileage trucks. You pay less money for them up front but you pay for it later on. I think you will find that across the board with all manufactures.
