I have been looking for a low mileage, black CDI for a while. I finally found it.

The best diesel Mercedes ever made. Two years only, '05 and '06. Blakley auctioned his a while back. Also, Alex Palmeri at Legit Street Cars had a good series of videos on one.

I just got myself an 05 E320 CDI. I had an 03 gasser before. The CDI is just a totally different animal. I’m absolutely obsessed and the MPG’s are amazing. LOVE the w211 E class.

That's the beauty of these diesels. Torgue no matter what RPM. I had a TDI "dieselgate" Passat and that was fun.

@@geofffikar3417 I drove it for five years with no issues. When I gave it back it had over 80k miles. I had to give it back because they gave me over $24k for a $29k purchase. I didn't want to because I enjoyed it so much.

A lot of dealerships will no longer work on the CDI. If you do not have the Mercedes Xentry diagnostic software it's almost impossible to diagnose these cars as a do-it-yourselfer

Dario , I'm looking to buy one, 2006 CDI with 175k miles to use him just as my backup vehicle , maybe to drive once or twice per week for 40 miles round trip, do you think 175k is good milage

I'd love one of these in museum condition with upgraded leather + cooled seats, dynamic seats, maybe pano roof (they are a headache!?), I'dlove all the goodies... some '05s had a little stalk on the right of the steering wheel for hands free calling. Would also love the 4 zone climate control with the extra charcoal filters and REST button. I'm greedy... what can I say... I want it all. $25k or $30k I guess if one could find it.

I'm sure they're out there but sometimes it's better to go with a little bit fewer features because the more features you have that just means the more stuff to break.

Unbelievable once again. Don't know how you manage to find these cars, but if we went looking, we would never luck up like you do. And by the way, we will watch any video you make, no matter how long, and if you jump around, we will still watch.

I highly recommend buying the Mercedes Xentry diagnostic software. You will also need the hardware multiplexer. You can get the setup from BenzNinja. Just do a little research online. Very difficult to work on these cars without the dealer scan software.

1:12 Really isn't "one of the most powerful inline 6 diesel Mercedes ever" they've made far more powerful ones, up to 387hp stock (OM656, 3.0 inline 6, 2017-present) I'm a huge fan of the W211! My favourite is the E220 CDI, E300 BLUETEC and the E200 Kompressor.
@woodsandbarclay

Okay yeah there's a couple that are more powerful but this definitely falls into the group "one of the most powerful".

Positives - Torque. Quieter and drive better than the 123/126. Drawbacks - You pretty much showed them scrolling on your laptop - which you need for pretty much anything you do to it. Front SAM. Rear SAM. Overhead SAM. Door Control Modules. SBC issues.

@@woodsandbarclay I have no doubt you did. The huge positive is this was obviously not a turn n burn lease and treated like one. Helen owned it and meticulously maintained it. That's the only way I'd buy a later model. I'd buy this in a heartbeat over a three year old "low mileage" lease return.

@@woodsandbarclay I spent 5 years in Mercedes service. I could always tell the repeat owners versus the repeat leasees. The owners always serviced them on time. Always did what should be done due to time and mileage. People who leased never even opened the hood between services or even checked the oil level on the cluster. I can recall a woman who made two trips to us just to have her washer fluid topped off. We were out of washer fluid at the time and rather than stopping at a supermarket let alone an auto parts store, to buy a $1.99 gallon of washer fluid, she made two trips to the service drive. 🤣

If Helen could afford $50,000 she can afford an oil change at the dealer
@woodsandbarclay
@woodsandbarclay 2 ай бұрын
No point in going to the dealer for an oil change. This is probably the easiest car in the world to do an oil change on the oil filter is not even under the car it's in the engine compartment. The oil pan drain plug is actually reachable just by laying on the ground next to the car. You don't even have to put the car on a lift or ramps.

@@woodsandbarclay I've got a 1998 E300d I took to Berkeley Motor Works. They did an oil change - and I did the next oil change only to find they improperly installed the oil filter and crushed it. There is a reason to go to the dealer but Oakland MZB doesnt' really want to work on them.
