2007 E90 335i OS Giken LSD Install and Track Test

Installing an OS Giken Super Lock LSD in a BMW 215LW differential housing. Testing at Auto Club Speedway - The differential performed as expected and I no longer had problems with the inside wheel spinning off acceleration. Lap times were a bit slower due to a less aggressive tune and using different types of street tires front to back. The 265/35r18 Hankook RS4 in front provided grip in the heat longer than the 275/35r18 Federal 595 RS-RR I had in the rear. I was running 65% water with Mocool in the radiator but after about 6 laps (aprox 15 min) began experiencing intermittent limp mode with the custom e50 tune. I'll be trying an e50 tune with lower boost pressure to see if it will allow me to stay out on the track longer. The custom 98oct tune allowed me to stay out on the track during the entire session in the morning when it was cooler. Lap times however, were about 1 second slower due to slower speeds on the straights.

@@DailyDriverTracking What I meant to say was: Awesome skills, such a detailed video with many tips and tricks. You make it seem so easy. Looked like pretty good driving as well. Looking forward to your next video! But instead of detuning your engine more, would it not be a better idea to focus on more cooling? -extra oil cooler -bigger radiator -bigger intercooler (some have fitted overly large not meant for the 335i intercoolers) -bigger fan. Your fan is spinning at those high temperatures, right? -extra air ducting (not sure if that would benefit) -heat wrapping or even coating certain parts -heat blanket the turbo's -perhaps more can be done to restrict airflow in the exhaust system

@@dbnpoldermans4120 Right on! I really don't want to make less power! Actually, I've been tossing around the idea of an auxiliary radiator or 4th oil cooler behind the front license plate. Currently I have a larger radiator, intercooler and 3 oil coolers in series. The MHD tune is set to track mode cooling when I go to the track, not sure exactly what it does. Didn't think about heat wrapping parts, sounds like a good suggestion. First I'm going to test the ots v8 e50 +1 tune with my latest piston and turbo configuration. My old logs show that it makes more power with 16.5 psi of boost than my custom tune does with 19 but that was with the stock pistons and turbos. Thanks for the interest and suggestions, sounds like you have some experience doing this kind of thing.

@@DailyDriverTracking For the record, I actually don't have any experience actually. Just some ideas I picked up from forums and youtube so I have no idea if any of those ideas make sense/work. Hi, nice video, I have the same LSD. However, I do have a clunk noise when engaging gear or reversing. I think it's some slack between the pinion and driveshaft teeth. I saw you put some red stuff on the teeth, is that loctite or what is it? Mine seems to be bonedry there...

Did you check the backlash between the teeth? The red stuff is assembly grease.
