Very helpful video, thanks! I would add, at 28:43 just above your finger is a small hole in the arm that holds up the front pop-up wind deflector. That hole, and the one at the front of the arm (just under the glass) is a great spot to stick the spray wand of WD-40 or better, some silicone lubricant, once every couple of months, to both sides to keep it moving smoothly.

You saved me hours of work, been having trouble with mine and I thought it was the motor as well. I simply greased the plastic levers and it worked.

Thank you for this video. Very informational and you showed everything to look for. My concern is the motor itself as it seems it's completely dead. Push the button and tap on the motor and nothing happens at all! I, now, know how to fix it! Thanks again!!!!

Front windshield windfall thing, 1/5 of a pine needle. Took it out with tweesers and spayed and then I could tap button closed, cleaned it better and it worked for me but great video, you did it all.

Awesome video my man. I didn't want to take the headliner off just yet to get the sunroof to close. Saw that you mentioned hitting the motor was able to get it to activate. So I tried hitting the motor through the headliner with a rubber mallet while holding the close button and it closed!

My needed a new sunroof switch panel. Got one from junkyard for $7. But it still won't fully close at the back end. I'm going to lube the tracks with grease and see what happens.

Thanks for the helpful video! I have a Scion tC 05 question- my ac buttons don’t work from time to time. Like I can turn it on but when I increase how much air it blows out, it only goes as high as level 1. Sometimes it’ll go all the way up and then gets stuck at level 1 again. Any advice?

hI think its either your ac controller or the blower resistor which controls the speed of the blower motor.

My 2006 had shit solder. I have to take out the button and use metal hold to the circuit board to open and close or it just stays open.

Now we know why Toyota got rid of the wind deflector for the later gen Scion TC.

What grease did you use?

I had it in my garage and its been a long time don't remember the brand. Just go to the closest auto store to you and ask for a window regulator or sunroof grease.

I'm having a problem with my sunroof in my scion. The driver side is fine and opens normally but the passenger side doesn't open and when I press the open button it looks like the plastic piece of the motor that moves out is popping out of the track and it pushes my headliner down. it doesn't fully close when I try it and I kinda have to press it down with my hand. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey did you ever fix this?? If so, how?? Mines won’t open from time to time and it opened today - I went to close it and was jerking then only the left side closed and it’s lopsided !!

I have this issue on my 2010 Scion TC where my power windows only roll down when it wants to but every once in a while it won’t roll down

Actually this car also had your problem but it was only passenger side. The fix was to change the windows master switch on the driver door.

you have to take the motor out and pull the sunroof close and then out the motor back in its a teeth off

So for me i didnt have to do all of that all i had to do was to just push down the lfront part of the sun roof when the roof is about to close

he had to take the motor out close the window and put the motor back in line up the window and put the motor back in and it should be good

You need to lube the tracks..... Its not the motor
