If fast cars were cheap you'd see a whole lot more out there. Keep in mind that part of that cost is a tune, which does more for a car than just give it more horsepower or torque. Also, part of that cost is the exhaust system. So you're paying for sound. Moreover, aftermarket exhaust systems are usually lighter than the stock exhaust systems. You'd probably drop 20-30lbs. So its more like - 44hp/51tq - Better throttle response - Better sound - 20-30lbs lighter for $2500.

It's interesting that it only pulled 331hp baseline. Most of the other videos I see on KZbin show stock coyotes putting down 370-380 with no mods, and 400hp+ with intake, exhaust, and tune. This car was underpowered from the get go.

Anthony5oh It really depends on the type of dyno, temperature, transmission options etc. 330-350 area is not uncommon for an Auto 2011+ GT since there is more drivetrain loss with the Automatic trans. You could see in the 370 are with a Manual for sure, though! Hope this helps! -Dan

AmericanMuscle.com my auto put down 373whp and 365ibtq to the wheels stock.. but drivetrain loss does vary alot among cars, but thos numbers are really low so either they are fibbed a little or that gt had alot drivetrain for a lra set up..

Also it depends on the octane used. The 5.0 can use 87 octane but it will rob power. Some shops, American Muscle for one, do a baseline with 87 octane. They'll then tank it up with 93 and parts/a tune, and pretend the parts and tune was responsible for all the gains. The switch from 87-93 is a good 10-12rwhp (or so I'm told). Doing an 87 octane run would yield lower numbers as well.

The 5.0 is actually very responsive in power differences between 87 and 93 octane. Most of these aftermarket companies, I have realized, use 87 for the base run and then 93 on the final run which bumps numbers up another 10 or so whp. The Auto trans mustangs are really making around 340rwhp on 93....like you should be putting in your car

Most manuals are putting down 360 stock, auto's will be a tad lower. And I'm gonna bust AM's chops over this, but when they show before and after dyno numbers for various mods, they almost always test 87 octane on the base run and a 93 octane on the modded run. That car with 93 octane is probably pushing around 340rwhp. Which is still lower than the manual, but only by about 20rwhp. Which seems to be more inline with what you'd expect to see.

@@josephr.8622 Even though that’s their excuse for the low numbers the math doesn’t add up. There should only be about a 15% loss for manuals and an 18% loss for automatics. If this Mustang actually dyno’d at 331 then it would be a 25% power train loss from Ford’s published numbers or about a 30% loss from more accurate third party tests done to the actual block itself. A 25-30% power train loss is absolutely unheard of, and there’s no way in hell the 6r80 transmission eats that much power. Even a broken 4 speed auto from the 1970s doesn’t eat that much power. And if the MT82 manual was actually pulling 370 to the wheel then it would be a 10% loss from Ford’s numbers meaning somehow the 6r80 loses THREE TIMES as much power as the MT82. AmericanMuscle messed up big time on these numbers. They either heat soaked the engine before testing or they’re at an extremely high altitude. Either way there shouldn’t be a 30-40 horsepower difference between the MT82 and the 6r80.

Plus 44 whp from a cai...tb and tune? The exhaust and tb add barley any hp...the cai maybe 10...so 34 hp from just a tune...Im not buying that at all.

All dynos read different. There’s a lot of variables that come into play when putting a car on there. Even the same model of dyno will read different depending on the the location and how it’s configured. I worked at a performance shop and was around a lot of different dynos and it was something it took me a while to wrap my head around lol

330 is a bit low for these 5.0 isn't it ? I was expecting around 350-360. Is it because this was an auto ?

It depends on the DA. If you're comparing two different dyno pulls that took place in different areas you could see a huge difference. Altitude, humidity, heat, and several other factors can cause a car to lose power. Heck you could dyno a car in the morning and get one number, then dyno the same car on the same dyno at noon and get 10rwhp difference.

These cars make 420 at the crank stock. You usually see auto's in the 340 range and the manuals in the 360 range. That looks to be about a 13% loss for the manual and a 18% loss for the automatic. While there's no exact rule what those percentages should be (many different factors), that looks to be about right.

Even if it was 340 and not 331 to the wheel that still isn't 18% from 420 to the crank. An 18% correction is only 400 to the crank. You would need a 24% drivetrain loss to justify 340 to the wheel and over 27% drivetrain loss to justify 331 to the wheel. I think you fudged your math a little bit.

@@EDMRemakesFL 420 x .18 = 75.6. So an 18% loss on a 420hp engine would equal 75.6hp. 420 - 75.6 = 344.4. An 18% power loss on a 420hp engine will land you in the 340rwhp range. My math is accurate. I have no idea where you're getting your numbers from. Just looking at them from a glance should be able to tell you that something is way off. You said an 18% loss reduces hp by 20 (from 420hp to 400rwhp), but a 24% loss reduces hp by 80 (from 420hp to 340rwhp). The 6% difference between 18% and 24% increases the loss from 20hp to 80hp? I don't need to pull out pen and paper to see that that cannot be correct, not even close.

4:00 I love my cars obnoxiously loud and I don't care what others think. That's why when I get my hands on one of these I'll be doing an off-road x-pipe setup with resignated deletes and roush axle-backs (obviously the manual version and not the automatic).

I HAVE A 2011 STANG GT MANUAL BOSS 302 INTAKE AND A 2016 2SS CAMARO 8SPD. AUTO, BOTH E85 AND TUNED, IF YOU WANT SMALL GAINS INEXPENSIVE GO WITH LONGTUBE HEADERS, CAI, E85 KIT AND A TUNE, IF BIGGER GAINS, SAME AS ABOVE PLUS CAM, HEADS, AXLE BACK EXHAUST.👍

Yea most of us on here are well aware of wheel up vs crank hp, but an auto coyote mustang should put down more than 331hp I can google dyno results that are higher for stock11-14gts

Took my 2013 mustang roush rs 2 to the dyon today and on 91 octane and with a auto trans it . He did 3 pulls and it did 358.2 hp and 358.9 torque .Car is all stock and he did a base test.The mods come next.

Chris. beyond an auto having more parts. it generates the hydraulic pressure necessary to hold the gear ratio,. auto trans also slip via the converter when not locked up and this causes worse power transfer

That's at the wheels, the horsepower numbers you get at the dealership is the power at the crank. So no it's not too bad.

Is it me or spending $2500 on these parts crazy? Supercharger is about $5,000-6,000. Shouldn't you spend the extra money and get a lot bigger gains than 44 whp

Yeah, a supercharger is $6k, but then you need all the supporting mods to use it... so you are looking at more around the $12-15k price range... and you are bolting that onto a stock motor... so expect a shorter life, if you don't blow it up.

These are great Mods, add a Aluminium Driveshaft and you're under 12 in the Quarter mile, a supercharger unless you're adding headers over axles and a kennabelle you not gonna do much better than that anyway. Plus your Coyote will be pushed the the limit with all this. A 25,000 car with 440 lbs of torque and 461 HP at under 12 seconds naturally asparated is unreal. Love the Coyote S197 great look performance, muscle car for the cash. If you want more than this. Save your 12,000 , look for a 13, 14 Shelby gt 500 and buy it for under 50,000 ,you can have a supercharged, 5.8 662 HP, 631 tq, with one piece driveshaft, 200 mph 11.5 am monster. Love the s197. If you do you'll love them too. Hope this helps.

not necessarily when your talking wheel horsepower. now if it had a factory rating of 331 at the crank meaning motor outside of the car not pulling any weight whatsoever then it would be low numbers.

While I haven't tested it, I'd have to say its about the same. I did the same modifications to an automatic mustang (but its a 2013) and didn't notice any difference in my milage.

10-12 rwhp is pretty generous. Maybe crank hp. But yeah, they sway things the best they can.

I would like to know if these dyno pulls were done in 3rd gear or 4th gear. Fourth is not a driver selectable in this year. A 3rd gear pull ( under driven gear ) would yield lower results then 4th (direct drive)

$2400 for that type of gain isn't bad. when you factor the exhaust is atleast $800 of that. Try offroading. Spend $5000 in one hit just to crawl over rocks, and that's just to get you decently capable.

Hey I have a question regarding the bank throttle body, I measured mine from the inside diameter and it’s over 85mm and under 90mm the outside diameter is 90mm the inside is more of a 87mm

Bolt ons are things you bolt on to your car, like cold air intakes etc.

Bolt ons mean just simple stuff like cai, tune, exhaust, and maybe a throttle body. Full bolt ons is more of the line like cai, tune, exhaust, headers, throttle body. Just anything that can bolt right on to the car but full means everything that you can buy. Just google it if you need more info

Vortech is going to tell you they can get a little more hp out of a CAI when installed and tuned for their superchargers. Also its gotta be tuned. Most people with muscle cars swap exhaust systems for better sound (and the increase in hp is a bonus). All of those items you'd likely have on your supercharged car anways.

well if its manual you already factor 12% driveline loss.. 12% of 370 is 44.4.. So 370-44.4 = 326. That's your power to the wheels. If it's automatic you factor in more driveline loss because of the torque converter mainly with a lot more moving parts.auto is usually like a 20% driveline loss. I dont know the exact number. 18-22% roughly.

Different Dyno's give different numbers. Just means that if you're making 400whp on this dyno then you'll probably smoke some other dynos 400whp LOL.
