Amazon has a couple of tools that fit over the drain valve making it easy to turn, one is a cut socket another is piece that slips over the top making a larger turning knob

The left side drain plug is also in the f350 with the 6.2 gas engine, and that drain hose / tube keeps it from spilling all over the place. Good ideas for DIY guys.

If you decide to run distilled water through it, how many gallons would you use? Also, do you need to put a cleaner in the system before you run the distilled water through? TIA!

for anyone thinking their gonna just run to Home Depot and grab a 5gal catch bucket and have more than enough room for it to fit… that was not the case for me, truck sits at stock height but a lil beefier tires so that should’ve been in my favor. i would’ve loved to have it jacked up for accessibility purposes, definitely recommend that. just like grandpa used to say “if you’re gonna do something you better be prepared to make it easy on yourself because a great plan A results in a mediocre plan B while a half-assed plan A results in disastrous alphabet”… or something like that. i remember the alphabet part more than the exact quote 🤣

When you replaced the elbow piece on the line that goes to the oil cooler, did you in essence drain nearly all of the fluid out of the block as well? Reason I ask is because I just replaced my oil cooler and had to remove the coolant lines from it. If you remove the line that is furthest to the rear of the cooler (and the easier one to get to) because it is the lowest point, do you think you could remove all of the coolant that way as well?
@HelpMeDIY
@HelpMeDIY 29 күн бұрын
+@SwormCycles probably, but I like to just replace fluids more often and use that as the easy way to keep it fresh (it mixes with whatever is left and I get most of it out the next time)

@@HelpMeDIY that's what i keep seeing. I appreciate it. I just put in the s&s disaster prevention kit so while I was there I changed the turbo coolant return line, and since I was already draining some coolant I decided to just change it all. And since I was going to be working on it anyway I also decided to do the transmission and front diff. And fuel filters I guess.
