Do you have to use tech stream to replace the abs module or can you simply replace the faulty one with a running one and the computer will adjust itself?

You can usually just replace it without techstream

Hi mr. electric my prius abs actuator probably has a problem. My abs lights and brake warning and traction lights are on. Are you near socal can i bring it to you for a fix? I havnt change my brake fluid do you think i should change my brake fluid first before repairing the abs actuator?

I dont think changing the fluid will fix the issue although low fluid will cause those lights. Even if it is low and gets refilled the code may need to be cleared with an appropriate scanner. Sorry I am not available to help in person.

I have a code C1464 and I also used to have a front right sensor open circuit code on my dad's 2014 camry, but replacing the sensor only fixed the second code and C1464 is still there. Using my OBD scanner, I've seen that both front wheels read the same and accurate speed, so I'm not sure why C1464 is still there and won't go away even after clearing it. Any ideas?

Is there rust on the wheel hub? The sensor might be trying to read a rusty, damaged tone ring (the part that spins with the wheel)

@@Mrelectric423 I didn’t check too closely, but the tone ring looked pretty black when I removed the sensor, but I’m planning on cleaning the connector contacts soon so I’ll check then

Helpful video! When you are finished and you say the ABS sensor light was cleared, do you mean that it cleared itself or you entered the clear command on your software?

FWIW, my cheaper diagnostic fixd indicated a bad rr sensor or circuit on 2013 Prius. Replaced visibly damaged harness, but problem persisted. I was not able to duplicate your testing, but did confirm that working LR sensor had about 32K ohm resistance, RR was only 17K. Replaced RR hub, and it measured 32K. Drove car tapped brakes twice, and that must have told system all was right because lights went out. Your video went a great distance in helping me out. Thanks!

@@theken6341 On your gen 3 prius there are two parts that could be at fault, actuator and accumulator. These are built into one component on the older gen2 shown in this video. It is hard to tell which is causing your code, some people replace both just to be sure. One is easier to replace than the other so some people do the easy one (actuator) first.

I have the same code C1246 on my 2012 prius ! checked the brake fluid . reset and cleared code! it back to normal now.
