Great video and great information on the turbo replacement procedures. I have a 2015 Escape with a p0299 under boost code. There doesn't seem to be any drivability issues except lower than expected gas mileage and the car is still very peppy. The gas mileage was lower than expected from the day I bought it new. I changed the turbo boost solenoid at the turbo and cleared the code, but after some time it came back. There are no other codes. Until your video I didn't know about a second turbo boost solenoid on to of the engine, or if my vehicle has one. At one time, the check engine light that generated the P0299 code cleared on its own, but later came back. Another thing, when I changed the turbo boost solenoid at the turbo there was some oil in one of the hoses. I don't want to go through the trouble and expense of replacing the turbo if it isn't the problem. I also understand that there is a Turbo Boost Pressure Solenoid Filter. Would this help replacing this filter and where specifically is it located? The Escape has about 110,000 mile on it and I bought it new. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated

Hi, i have a 2015 as well and I just got this P0299 code. Exactly like you I had to replace the wastegate solenoid as well. Did you find out what’s causing this underboost and how did you fix it?
@davidgeorge8172 Жыл бұрын
@prettymuch142 If you're replying to me, I have replaced the upper and lower solenoids both, but the P0299 code keeps reappearing after clearing the codes. I'm still driving it, but I only want to replace the turbo as a last resort because it's such a job. I did just put it up on the hoist and actuated the turbo boost in 10% increments from 0% to 100% with my scan tool, which has bi-directional capabilities for operating/actuation of sensors, controls, etc. When I operated the turbo boost with the scan tool, the solenoid below on the turbo was clicking and bussing like it was operating, but the wastegate actuator never moved. It looks like you almost have to remove the turbo to change the wastewater actuator, so I'm putting it off until I have the time to dig into the removal of the turbo.

Mr Ford Boss, I recently bought a 2013 Lincoln MKZ with 2.0 Ecoboost. Like new, it has 16,000 miles on it. At idle rpm, in drive or especially in reverse, I get a rattle from left side, front. . It goes away if engine is above idle. I am alone here, and really need to have someone else sitting in the seat and switch from D to R. (working on that) could this be the rattle you indicate with such low mileage? From inside, it is annoying, and almost sounds like something inside the door, but with door open, it is sounding like under hood in engine bay. No codes, no issues, the car runs and accelerates fine. close to 30 mpg in my rural driving. Is there something I should look for , and take off the under belly pan? Thank you for the service you provide us, it is much appreciated. (I also have 2013 Ecoboost F150 Supercrew I bought new and it has been flawless, other than an emergency brake cable and rear brakes(REAR Brakes? yes, at 45,000 miles). Best regards, Mark

2019 F-150 3.5 Eco boost waste gate sticking intermittently then goes int limp mode. I pull over wait a few moments with truck off and the code clears and I go on about my day. This happens once or twice a week if I do not warm the truck up for 5 minutes. The Dealer states that I need a new passenger side turbo for $3000+. I have had this issue for more than a year dealer told me there was no problem before now needs full replacement . It never happens in the summer only the winter when it is cold. Any thoughts? buy the way I bought it at Dundee Ford If you know where that was ."Just Kidding" Buy the way I am happy to donate to the channel if that is a thing and I appreciate all that you do.

2016 Fusion 2.0 with P0299 code. I've owned to car for approximately 2 years without issue. Around 98,000 miles. Today while accelerating to merge on to the highway the check engine light came on for the first time. nothing sounded or felt different at the time. Drove it home (20 miles) without issue. Hooked my scanner tool to it and got this as the only code. Is this safe to drive in present condition? Would replacing just the TBPS's be advisable or should i have it looked over by a mechanic? Any recommendations for fixes would be appreciated.

I just came from ford and my car has been throwing the same code p0299 but isn’t making any of the noises you described, seems to drive fine just doesn’t have the same amount of pick up as it did . Ford said I need a whole new turbo but could it possibly just be the sensors you described in the beginning of the video?? They told me it’s gna be $2600 and I just don’t have it so if I could get sensors replaced and not need a whole new turbo that would be ideal.? Should I ask the service advisor about this? I have a 2014 Fusion 1.5L. Turbo was leaking oil bad and eventually got a code p0299. Replaced the turbo and still get the code. Cleaned all the piping of oil, replaced map sensor, boost solenoid, blow off/diverter valve, and the rubber intake hose off the air cleaner and still get the p0299. During all this discovered vacuum pump failed as the vacuum reservoir was filled with oil, really thought that was the culprit but nope still got the code after cleaning the reservoir and replacing vacuum pump. Scan tool showed coolant pump A had a short to ground, so I even replaced that thinking the turbo was overheating. After a test drive replacing the coolant pump, it is still showing a pending code p0299. Really at a loss here and it seems to only happen when the car gets hot. In cool weather, car drives perfectly fine. Really starting to think it is a computer problem. I don't think the computer has to be reprogrammed when you replace the turbo?

Have you come across a 2016 explorer 2.3l turbo where if you fully accelerate the engine starts cutting in and out almost like if you had a standard when you don't let the clutch out properly it lurches but at 30 mph. It's coming up with a P0299 code. On a different issue when you put the vehicle in reverse it bangs.
@FordBossMe Жыл бұрын
Check motor mounts for one trans mount motor mount etc etc and when you get a p0299 code either you need a turbo or you got a vacuum line leak from the solenoid or you got bad vacuum solenoids that control the turbo I've replaced a lot of turbos for this code
@SR-gt350 Жыл бұрын
@Ford Boss Me thank you very much! I'll check those. Ill just purchase the two turbo pressure solenoids off rockauto. Any ideas on why the transmission bangs into reverse. I purchased a new valve body as well as the 2 reverse solenoids strategy because during warranty, the same issue occurred, and those were the components ford service replaced.
