Test drove both of these: for taller drivers and passengers, the Honda has less leg room on the passenger side. The seats were not as deep either, which is important for long trips. I also found the infotainment screen more convoluted. The reported engine oil mixing with gas issue is also not cool. Anyway, I got a RAV4 Hybrid, could not be happier.

Major issue with latter-day CRV models is a very badly designed direct gas injection system, which causes a lot of fouling of valves, and worse, dilution of oil with gasoline (by some reports, a very substantial amount of gas gets by the pistons and into the oil sump). Unfortunately, Hondas ain't what they used to be, and because I want my cars to last a long time, I will go with a Toyota any day. These reviews are not all that helpful as they tend to focus on gadgets and attributes of a brand new car, which says nothing about downstream maintenance and operating costs.

Uhh, how could you choose the RAV? Well, for no other reason than the main reason: Toyota is absolutely CRUSHING the competition in reliability. Toyota’s ENTIRE model line is above avg or excellent reliability. That’s certainly nothing you can say about any American automaker. Furthermore, Toyota has put significant distance between Honda and Subaru. There’s a reason the top 3 vehicles in America, for holding their value, are Toyota (tacoma, tundra and 4runner). So, if you want a vehicle with some SLIGHT advantages and worse reliability- knock yourself out. I’ll keep buying Toyota and stay out of the shop.

After driving Honda Accord EX cars for 23 years, I "defected" to a RAV4 Limited Hybrid. I did so because both my mechanic and I have concerns about the longevity and cost to repair turbochargers such as that in the CR-V EX. (I keep my cars 10 years.) My wife's two Priuses have been totally reliable, so no concerns here with the Toyota Hybrid system. I probably would have gone for the CR-V EX had Honda continued to offer the AWD model with the trusty 2.4L engine. Hopefully, some long term data will prove the Honda 1.5L turbocharged engine to be just as reliable and my concerns unfounded. The RAV4 Hybrid does get better gas mileage, has a tad more HP and no turbo lag. I wish that I could pick things that I like both cars as if from a Chinese menu.

Well first off I appreciate you doing a review on the tow top selling suv segments in the industry. However you didn't give the right specs and when it comes to the front seat there is more head leg and shoulder room in the Rav4. The Rav4 also has a heads up display which gives the driver a safer way to use there phone and even see there nav display turning directions where the odometer is where the crv does not. When you are rating technology Rav4 also has more it gives and is even easier to use no matter the age. The honda is also a 6 speed transmission with an ability to lock in the differential to improve driving on bad roads. I like the fact you compared them but you were very one sided so i take it you are using only your opinion or you are not aware of how to use certain features that they both have.

Those additional parts don't have anything to do with lubrication. However those parts have to do with getting the engine warm up more quickly, which is what the problem is. For some reason this engine takes an abnormally long time to warm up. But what I can't figure out, is why it's so much worse on the CR-V than other Hondas with this engine (virtually nonexistent on the Accord). Why do you think that is?

The cr-v is soooooo much better looking than the rav4gina in my opinion

2017 Hybrid Limited actually actually is a better comparison imo minus a few features that wouldn’t be discussed here

great job reviewing those cars. honest and straight to the point. the viewer has a clear idea about both cars and what to choose at the end of the video.

When the CVT and turbo fail, you have enough time to admire the interior of the CRV.

Wow, the new CR-V has won every comparo and that's why I bought it. I do admit the "fidget spinner" rims haven't grown on me and I do wish it had those "surround view" cameras.

Phrancis5 You don't need cameras in any vehicle.

I play FPS games, fly FPV drones, and degrees in industrial design. I've got great 3D spatial awareness. I don't need cameras but my wife does - she already dinged it in a parking deck!

The Rav4 exterior looking is as great as the CR-V but interior is otherwise

I've heard the comment about the pricing before. However in the real world, I've gotten significantly lower quotes on RAV 4s than on CRVs. Honda would not really even budge from their first offers.
@miragexl0075 жыл бұрын
I know, the pricing thing annoys me. They never compare the base model. The whole options thing... a little different so depending on what you really like or want for the price. Despite the set packages and what they offer.

I simply don't want to choose the Honda CRV since it has that 1.5L turbocharged engine. It sounds to me it will not last for a long time. I think Honda is going to the wrong direction regarding this engine and it will lose its reliability in the future.

Toyota doesn't even have apple car play or android auto. It's 2018 and we still have to pay for their crappy navigation graphics

How can you possibly recommend the turbo on the CRV when Honda is having problems with fuel getting into the oil. In China they did a recall for this issue. Here in the USA they only provide an oil change. I will continue to avoid turbos, CVTs and direct injection like the plague. Call me crazy but I prefer long term reliability. For the record I own a 2015 Mazda CX-9 so I'm not a Toyota fanboy.
