Man my 2018 felt like it was 4 year long mild nightmare like some months just felt outrageously long, October just disconnected from the concept of time completely right up until Halloween 😂 December has been a little long but its doing me right raising the positive vibrations in my life, putting some interesting people in my path and we’re collectively claiming 2019 as our year of unstoppable action🥳😎 . This year I moved across the country (with no job) and landed a job in my dream field (2 weeks before I ran out of money)! 2018 was not a bad year for me. I'm thankful and grateful! 😊😊😊

I'm over here tearing up over your joy! Seeing you succeed gives me hope that I can do the same. This year I moved from a safe house into accommodation into my own flat (apartment) after fleeing from domestic violence. With very low income and help from good honest working people I managed to have furniture. That my not sound much but it got me off the floor, I was able to eat with just a slow cooker (no fridge/stove/ on that handwashing over the bath Style 💁🏾😅). I was very lonely so I started volunteering with the elderly which made me leave the house and gave me perspective. I'm currently going through therapy and although I'm on a waiting list i feel hopeful. Lastly i joined the gym, overcoming my body hate and learned to appreciate the way I am, not about me losing weight but body positivity. I'm crying because I forgot all of this. I was looking on the negatives I forgot all the achievements. God is good, all the time. Thank you Evelyn ♥️

In 2018, I became debt free (50K of debt gone in two years). Started a new hobby that I love. Finally got rid of a truly toxic person in my life. All in all 2018 was good.

Grace KZbin never notified me that I had replies. First I made a decent living, took home about 60K after taxes. Also I budgeted and lived frugally. Any money left over after bills (rent, phone, utilities, groceries, etc) went towards debt. I still made small allowances for some luxuries like getting regular massages but mostly I was laser focused on debt. I calculated that over the two years, I put 70% of my income on paying off debt or saving (starting a Roth IRA and building an emergency fund)

Nikki You were right about the income but I haven’t lived on home in almost a decade. I live alone and I’m single so there wasn’t a second income to help me out. After an finished grad school I made paying off debt my main priority. Paid my bills and then put almost everything else towards debt and savings.

I wasn't going to leave a comment because I was thinking that my 2018 wasnt anything to write home about, but when I started rinsing out my DC I started thinking (for some reason I do alot of thinking in the shower): I actually did do alot and accomplished alot this year. First off, I got rid of A LAWT of toxic ppl in my life. Family, "friends"... No one was safe from these boundary-laying hands. Something clicked and I had to remind myself that Im in control. I dont have to have anybody in my personal space that dont belong. So I started getting rid of people the same way I do my split ends: immediately. Second, I finally FINALLY got my bachelor's degree. There was a point in my life where I kept saying I was gonna get it but eventually I started to lose hope. 7 years later I finally got my bachelors in Linguistics. I also got my first tattoo in 2018 and now Im going into 2019 with three tattoos lol.

This year I bought my first house, learned how to trust again, beat budget at my job, received an award from my CEO and my process improvement initiative was implemented in the entire company, received spiritual healing-no more migraines!, travelled to The Bahamas, New Orleans, all over my great state of Florida including the Keys, Mexico, and Oklahoma, spent too much time at Universal Studios, made a lifestyle change to healthy eating and regular exercise (except on vacays), attended my first gala, saw Bey and Jay for the third time each, saw Maxwell, attended 2 weddings, and flew by myself 7 times (fear of flying).

Love this Ev. I'm so proud of you! 2018 was a wild year for me. I think it's the first year where I've understood those memes and general sentiments about a year kicking your ass. I interviewed for PhD programs dealt with the stress of rejections and (thankfully) some acceptances-and then decided not to matriculate because it just didn't feel right. My parents divorced. Went to South Africa, my first time on the Continent! Then left my lovely research job for another halfway across the country that sounded amazing but ended up being a poorly coordinated, understaffed mess. Made my second expensive halfway across the country move for another job that I actually adore, all while applying to grad school again. So I'm finishing 2018 by paying off moving expenses, and prepping for a January interview weekend--I'm a finalist (top 5% of applicants) for admissions at my dream school! Definitely learned a lot this year. About what I will and will not tolerate. About ego and inertia. Community and support. Definitely looking forward to 2019! 2018 was rough but sowed the seeds. Like you, I have no regrets. Cheers!

Ma’am look 👀 2018 was a roller coaster of sorts! January this year I started a new job... That I wasn’t entirely sure was for me! 😭 Went through a time of feeling to comfortably with life. Lost a cousin to a tragic domestic violence dispute back in May. Something family never thought we would be fighting for justice for! (Side note we found out he was a celebrity little brother, which played a huge factor of him not getting convicted) So summer is here and I am bent on leaving my current job. I stepped out faith, and applied for my dream job as a Art Teacher. I applied at the end of August, heard back mid September with 3 offers!!! I made my decision, and started the position October 15th! In the midst of all this my mom has a scare with cancer 😪 God is so good! I then ended my year with applying to grad school, and got accepted! Started the year on very shaky grounds, and I’m ending it on a very high note!

My year could be summed up with "Alexa, play Watch God Move." I made goals for the year and God was like, oh, that's cute. Let's just wreck all that up and you are going to lose your job, get recruited for an amazing job, move to a new city, possibly have to find another job, maintain employment, all while having health issues, BUT GOD. I should have really vlogged all that, but I think I've learned that I need to do that for 2019 and just see what's in store. So glad you made this video. I literally watch myself learn and grow through your videos. This year was a challenging. But 2018 showed me just how huge my capacity can be to love and care for others and myself. I officially finished Law School this year. Getting almost all A’s and B’s in my classes. I made the decision to bet on myself and jump into an entrepreneurial space instead of following what’s expected (i.e. taking the bar and becoming a lawyer) I ended a toxic relationship and am recovering beautifully. I applied for a fellowship with a company called Founder Gym, and it was the best decision I’ve made this year. I got accepted to the Butler Koshland Fellowship and am currently working at an amazing non-profit doing great work. My confidence grew, my mind grew, my heart grew! I moved to Oakland and have two pretty awesome roommates that I wouldn’t trade for anyone else, living in a spot that is loud but SUPER convenient. I bought tickets to travel in 2019! I haven’t travelled internationally since going to Thailand and I’m excited to get out of this country for a bit. Got to go to AfroTech for the first time! I was even on stage for a bit (not as a speaker but let’s hope so later 😉) 2018, was a beautiful year! I gained invaluable relationships. I gained so much knowledge about who I am and what I want. I have a few key goals for 2019, and I’m excited to fulfill them and see how it plays out. Folks ask me so much, do I regret not taking the bar, never, it’s not a regret. I am so happy and fulfilled doing the kind of work that I do. 2018 was lit.

This year I graduated high school, got a new job, finished my first semester of college, cut off the toxic people in my life, grew closer to the good ones, traveled alone both to India and in the US, finally came out as bisexual to my friends, and found my dad’s birth family (he’s adopted). This year was great, and you were definitely one of my inspirations. I got rid of 99% of my belongings, broke my lease, and rented a bedroom. I stopped spending every waking moment thinking about my job search and just lived -self-employed and free to create my own schedule / experiences. Yaay! Congrats girls, ahh I wish I could travel but I'm on that college hustle. 2018 was the year I walked away from my old extracurriculars that I held near and dear to me (honestly I felt like those really built me and my confidence as a leader). It was a year of new beginnings because I thought one of those extracurriculars was gone from my campus for good but a successor popped up out of nowhere and took on the job and is doing super well for herself now. It was also the year I got my license after overcoming the trauma and anxiety. Spent so much time with friends and loved ones and somehow this awkward single pringle is no longer single. Totally looking forward to 2019, I applied to nursing school, am looking to get my first car, hustle and just travel a lot more.

I'm standing at the kitchen.sink, doing dishes and keeping company with your videos and I just broke down crying. Yesterday I found my old KZbin channel with all my old playlists. I'm talking about: evelyn in college, I'm talking about who is sugar, I'm talking about kimmaytube when she was still regularly posting hair videos , I'm talking about awkward black girl. It took me back to a time in university in Scotland when I was quite often the only black girl and felt misunderstood and isolated and overlooked with the constant anxiety that those things induced. My only 'community' were creators on KZbin. This was my safe space, my happy place. So thank you Evelyn for giving this black girl a sense of belonging, even if it was just on the internet.

2018 was a great year for me. I finally overcame my fear of driving and got a license, then I got a car, had an accident, fixed it, and I'm out here driving my kid to school every day. I started a vegan bath and beauty company with my sister and we're getting orders from all over the country. I went to the islands twice in one year. My husband was fired and rehired with double the salary on the same day. Hallelujah! 2018 was great!

I just got my entire 2018 by living vicariously through you through this video... 😍 my actual 2018, I got a promotion after 10 months (won't He do it) lived in a new country, experienced my first heartbreak, moved into my dream apartment and developed a green thumb :) bring on 2019!

So happy for you Evelyn. I've been staying updated and you really did amazing in 2018. For me 2018 meant graduating college, visiting Jamaica, attending events for my sorority, finding my first full time job, and applying to graduate school

I quit my job after struggling HARD and went into another avenue which is already making me get personal finance from the bank. I saw The Carters and danced for 3 straight hours and smelt vile afterwards. I read over 78 books, and some I never finished no Pentecostal guilt in me. 2019 has some adventures to push through, brexit or no brexit, I'm on the plane.

Sounds like a great year for you! I spent the year trying to figure out who I am as an artist. I was able to change jobs (Praise 🙌🏾), invest more in my music, and take some baby steps that were difficult, but necessary, to my dream chase. In 2019, I have to get in a real studio (I record in my car 🙃) and do a live performance. This is a requirement lol.

This was a transitional year for me too- but all goals got accomplished and I couldn’t be prouder of myself. I moved out of my mom’s place and into my first apartment all by myself, I graduated university, I traveled, I saved money into my emergency fund... such a massive year 🥳🙏🏾👌🏾

My girl Evelyn out here doing the damn thing! I would love to travel more in the next few years. I spent most of 2018 trying to get my life in order. Being a single parent while trying to stay in school has been my main focus so I can accomplish my other goals in the future.

You're surviving and thriving Evelyn! Also.. I was invited to my first big-ish (paid!) speaking event (besides uni and all that) this year and absolutely loved it. Then two weeks later, got asked for another paid speaking event, which made me realise that I really can be doing what I love (and using my degrees) and get paid for doing it. 2018 was a sneak peek at what life can be like if i just muster up the courage to say yes, and I am 100% certain that 2019 will open that door for me. On to thriving (and also surviving cuz it's hard out here!).

This year I set a lot of goals for myself. I moved back home after living out of state for a year. I was able to get a better job making $10,000+ more than my previous job, got an apartment, new car, met amazing black women that inspire me to be better, and fell in love with manifestation! 2018 was a great year but, I’m trying to make 2019 better!

This was a really great year for me. I learned that nothing extraordinary happens in the comfort zone, so I pushed myself to do things out of my comfort zone that I knew would be beneficial for others as well as myself. One highlight this year was self-publishing my first book and having Evelyn post it on her Instagram Stories. Thanks Evelyn!!!

This year was a survival one for me with a lot of realizations that I need to start living for myself. Not for my family or their expectations or society and it’s expectations but just for myself . Goals for 2019 are being happy, healthy in both a physical and mental sense and being my grateful

I quit my job in 2018! I cannot believe how this video came just in time. I'm excited for my new chapter though I really don't know what that looks like right now. Going to take the next 2 months figuring that out as I just relax for the first time in over 3 years.

Love it! My 2018 was a year of endurance, big life changes, and acceptance. I’m so happy with how this year is ending, especially since I have a happy and healthy 3 month old to bring in the New Year with. God’s been good to me and mine, even when I wasn’t aware and I’m ready to take 2019 by storm. 🙌🏾💪🏾✌🏾
