Tundra is strong enough to tow space shuttle. Tundra went 1 million miles on one single engine without being rebuild. Tundra seat fabric didn't even worn-out after 1 million miles. Tundra frame lasted 1 million miles. Tundra cab corners lasted one million miles. Tundra exhaust manifold bolts lasted 1 million miles. Tundra engine lasted 1 million miles without blowing spark plugs. Tundra is the only million miles gas truck without problems. To many people focus on looks and forget that looks are deceiving. To many people call reliability is outdated, and favor issues as advanced technology. I know truth hurts, but it's reality.

I like the Tundra, "Wouldn't you agree?". It does a great job towing our trailer, "wouldn't you agree?. It's very comfortable also, "wouldn't you agree?". On the highway without a trailer I usually get 19MPG and I'm satisfied with that, "wouldn't you agree?".

Nice and well executed review, however from my personal experience and 5 months of shopping, online building, test driving, and comparing; I have that same truck you’re driving but it’s a 4x4 Limited w/Premium Package CrewMax. I had a 2011 GMC Sierra Extended Cab with a 4.8L V8 2WD, and that GMC rarely on highway full tank no cargo or trailer got 15mpg. So when you compare the two the Toyota hands down way more truck for the money. In spite of many options my sticker was $51,334.00 A 2018 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab with 2.7L is running roughly $50k window sticker and that’s equal to an SR5, the Limited is the equal to a Ford F-150 Lariat which came in at $8,700.00 more than the Tundra I purchased. Hands down in spite of many little do-dads that the big three have and Nisan the Japanese competitor (and I drove them all) haven’t got anything over the Tundra. I drove them all before committing to a $50k purchase. No regrets whatsoever with my Tundra.

I own 2014 Silverado 5.3L crew cab and I get between 18 to 21 mpg depending on payload,my truck has 171xxx miles on it and I don't have any major issues except A/C condenser which GM should recall anyway I agree with you for pricing and Your choice my next truck will be Thundra.

What really kills the fuel economy is the 4.30 axle ratio (but that also makes it good for towing).

I have a 2018 Tundra SR model. It has a 4.6 engine. I towed a pop up camper and get 18.9 mpg and not towing get 21.4 ,mpg. Both going over 60 each time. That is good mileage for a 1/2 Truck. The Truck is Big and wide. Nice to drive also.

I'll give Toyota credit on, that you can buy a Toyota alot cheaper than you could a Silverado or f150. So if you want to buy a full size pickup and want to save a lot of money then buy a toyota.

Had a 2013 Tundra Limited Crew Cab Rock Warrior and now I have a 2018 Ford F-150 Platinum. The Ford feels more luxurious, has way more tech, is way faster with the 3.5 eco boost and 10 speed... but the Toyota felt like a better built truck. Toyota May get inferior mpg, but it’s with a drivetrain that is bulletproof. Hard to say one is better or worse, they have trade offs.

Great review but wanted to mention a few points. That truck has the TRD offroad pkg not trd sport. Also the LED's come with that pkg on all trim lvl.s. TRD offroad gets you the wheels/tires/Billstein shocks , skid plates and LED lighting.

Actually, its the most american made truck going now. GM has went China , Ford is a lot Mexico and Canada and Dodge is where ever. Toyota Tundra is the most America made truck. After driving one , anyone will agree if they have a open mind. I used to be only FORD but not now.

it does look good and is dependable but it's too dated ! add keyless entry, pushbutton start, wireless charging, front and 360 deg cameras, Apple car play, Android play, screen mirroring, standard tailgate elec locking, and more people will buy them ! those are the biggest reasons i passed !

Add auto locking tailgate. Remote start that doesn't shut off the engine when you stick the key in, maybe 3.7 gear ratio, improve economy, and higher payload, more usb and better infotainment.

I am a road builder in bc. We build grades up to 26%.The pickups have tidy tanks and powder boxes. Always overloaded. Fords are the toughest trucks. Nobody uses Toyota’s in the Bush

I have F150 XLT 4x2 and get 20 city and 24 highway with 3 x dirt bikes in the back and the engine feels great in power. But I want to get a V8 for my next truck and looking a Tundra or 5.0 ford. the ford is $10k more when I match features.

Michael Cline If you don't need the versatility of a truck then I would not reccomend it. Whist the Tundra is a great truck, it gets terrible gas mileage. If you're just commuting, stick with the Prius.

I bought a 2018, TRD off-road SR5, ..it’s been about 7 months now and I LOVE it, and I agree.. my only complaint is gas mileage. If Toyota would just change the transmission to an 8 speed, sales would go up. I guarantee it!

oh boy....where do i start! well first off i must say the Toyota trucks are very reliable and nobody can take that away from them. The reason they are that reliable is because they are designed simple. Simplicity equals reliability. while ford,gm,ram are offering multiple engine options and ways to equip them, they are far from simple. Now, haven driven every 1/2 ton that's on the market i say Ford has the best truck on the market, factoring reliability,avail options,towing,and value. The new ram has the best interior of the segment hands down, the GM twins has new sheet metal and that's about it. the interior is ugly just like the last generation, and they still wax coat their frames. The Nissan titan well, is just another option to the tundra, just has better efficiency overall. The tundra has its downfalls compared to the competition, worst fuel economy, no push button start, no remote start to name a few. But i do prefer the tundra over the nissan titan only because in the tundra you can get a 38 gal tank, sunroof as options. the titan still has a 26 gal tank and no sunroof at all. One more thing..the JBL sound system is TERRIBLE.

Can you tell me if toyota has addressed the "cam tower oil leak" issue that's affected the 5.7 engine for several model years ? Why will toyota not step up and do the right and ethical thing and at the very least extend the warranty period for this issue ? I have a 2014 tundra of which i only put 5k a year on. In my mind toyota is not the vehicle/company I thought it was.....very disappointing !!! dc53 Doesn't look like Toyota themselves has addressed the issue but it seems like they generally start to leak before the warranty is up so it ends up getting fixed, just sucks if it's not detected before the warranty is over. I never knew this was an issue so thanks for bringing it up!

Tundra is a great Truck, however gas mileage is pretty bad. I have 15' Ford F-150 2.7!turbo XLT 4x4, and I'm getting 22 mpg.

Jumperman 1 Yeah the gas mileage is the biggest thing they need to improve on, if they stopped using that archaic 6 speed automatic that'd help a lot! I'm sure the next generation will at least have an 8 speed tranny in it.
