Why does every car reviewer want every car to be “sporty”? If you want a sporty car, buy a sporty car. This isn’t mean to be one. It’s a mid sized family sedan, meant to be comfortable.

Because car reviewers love to DRIVE cars meaning they look for fun cars that handle well. Most consumers buy them as appliances who wouldn't look up a review beyond crash ratings and MPG. I don't personally get the comfort part as I love sporty cars but I'll give up a lot to be comfortable.
@lowrider2765 жыл бұрын
A car doesn't have to be a sports car to not suck to drive. Not to mention, if they went to the effort of including a more powerful engine and a dedicated 'sport trim' then you would expect them to deliver. If they never intended for this car to be sporty, they should be upfront and just own it

Slamming the passat on things it wasn’t built for doesn’t make any sense. What do you mean by the ride is too soft, review a family midsize sedan as a family midsize sedan not a sports sedan.

I don't know. I love my 2017 SE. The roads in Colorado Springs are brutal. The Passat smooths out most of it. I also love the understated styling. Plus dealers are offering steep discounts.

I disagree with most of this report Comparing this V6 VW to an accord which now is only a 4 banger Then comparing this to hybrids doesn’t seem fair V6 to V6 is a fair comparison Most people that buy the Passat want it for family and German build which is far superior to the Asian models We have had a Jetta and now own a Passat and it’s truly a wonder automobile

It's a shame the European spec Passat isn't offered in the US. It's up with the class leaders on refinement, practicality and efficiency. Technology, powertrains and spec options are also great. We've had once since 2015 and it's never put a foot wrong, drives really well, and is very tough to beat as an all-round package.

Of course MPG is low. You tested the old V6. What about the new 2.0L? It is rated 29 mpg combined. And with an 18.5-gallon fuel tank, Passat might have the longest range in its class.
@shwnc48425 жыл бұрын
Idk why the got rid of the 1.8t. It was so smooth and had so much pep that it actually felt a bit fun to drive around town. The 2.0t is a bit unrefined in my opinion. The VR6 with the GT trim is definitely my favorite and I would actually get that car. The torque in that car is really fun
@sszhao115 жыл бұрын
I have the GTI 2.0T and it has much more lag than the passat 1.8T, for around town driving, I prefer 1.8T hands down. turbo spools with lightest tap on the accelerator, vs GTI need 2400RPM plus and more than 25% throttle input to get boost. resulting in no power for slow driving. I think VW did this to match accord specs, not really for performance.
@vs15175 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more, I have a 2016 Passat S with the 1.8T and I absolutely love it. It is very peppy and it really gets up and goes when u want it to, it actually is a bit fun to drive around lol

Vishaal Sandepogu I also love how the 1.8t never feels old! I got into a 2017 Honda Accord and the whole cabin was vibrating from the engine at idle and the car only had 40k miles on it. Then I get into a Passat and it feels brand new and refined and I love it

I've always loved the Passat as a direct competition to the E Class. But it isn't the E Class. Yet, this is a really cool car and I wouldn't mind one but that Mazda 6 is a killer car. Nice from VW but I am looking forward to major improvements in the drive sector.
@edipires155 жыл бұрын
Gear One the Passat was never an E-Class direct competitor
@copperhead22955 жыл бұрын
It sounds like a funny comparison but I actually know a lot of people that used to cross shop the last generation Passat new with a used e-class and most left with a Passat. They new generation Passat is a completely different vehicle though.
@julianmukerji93715 жыл бұрын
Gear One absolutely agree with comparing it with a E class if your talking the B6 passat (last gen) being a B6 owner I would definitely compare the 2, I’ve owned it since new in 08 and was comparing it to Benz when I was looking, however this new passat is a completely different story it’s not European at all there is no luxury or quality anymore. Even the dealers now this, they talked me out of buying a new passat saying it’s a complete down grade from what I have now.
@gearone24445 жыл бұрын
@@julianmukerji9371 I agree with you in that regards. Watched a couple of videos and didn't like what I saw. For the price range it's being offered, I'd pick the Mazda 6 or Honda Accord. But then, the last gen Passat was a near E-Class killer. Wondering why they had to tone everything down, save for the seats. For Audi? I hope they're able to reverse this in any future mid year refreshes else, vw may have to endure worse than the diesel gate crisis.
@julianmukerji93715 жыл бұрын
Gear One they changed the Passat because of sales, a base model B6 started around $26K the new passat starts at around $22K, people just didn’t want to pay almost $30K for a base model Volkswagen. Even though its the best passat ever made in my opinion.
@ibakedit58505 жыл бұрын
Why do you some reviewers expect a midsize, practical, car meant for a comfortable A to B commute to be fun? If that is the case get a sports car! I think those who buy Passats, Sonatas, and the like generally look for practicality and comfort, not necessarily prodigious road holding and an uncomfortably firm ride.

Ya i have a 2017 passat. Well i have to agree on everything she said. And i do no like what it offers as compare to competitors. That adaptive cruise is horrible and disengages under 15 or so mph. Wtfff..and then she didnt mentioned about remote start that shuts off engine when you open the door...wtff...the only reason i got it was price i paid at dealer. Back in like 2012? Well I mean it does drive really well with the 2.5l inline 5 with the hydraulic power steering instead of electric. Feels much more sporty compared to the newer ones because of the suspension tuning, regardless of body roll it's a fun car to drive around, especially the 5spd manual. I've been loving this car for the past 2 years I've had it, it's a 2014 5spd and I have no complaints other than a slight rattle noise somewhere in my center console area when it's cold out
