Enjoy your videos for learning how to take my golf apart bud, just a suggestion you could have used rivnut inserts even if not upgrading just to take it out for sound treatment then they take normal bolts 😉 tools aren't too expensive either and they are fully reusable.

very good call. i could have.. but sometimes, i mess up rivnut installs.. and then, it would have a bigger mess.. The biggest thing II found for my successful rivnut squash is the make sure the threads are lubed.

My rear door speaker blew and it sounds horrible even at low volume. Do you have a video showing the rear door speakers? I have a 2018 7.5 gti, should I just take the car to the dealer for them to replace under warranty?

i think the rear speakers are rivets like the front. a bit of a pain. if you dont have tools id take it in

Thinking about throwing a set of Dayton 6.5s classic subwoofers in my rear deck. Which ones do you have there and will they be ok?

rear deck? man no clue on fitment. but mine are still in my doors and work fine.

I tried aftermarket speakers in the fronts on my Mk6 Jetta that had the Helix installed. The Helix hated them and it seemed to go into some protection mode and subwoofer stopped working. I put the stock speakers back in and the Helix soundbox magically worked again. It was those direct fit Focal Integration VW speakers like you put into your Mk6 GTI a while back. Pretty sure they were same ohm rating too. Maybe because they need more power to drive them? Hopefully you don’t run into that issue! Just traded in my Jetta for a cpo 2019 GLI Autobahn that has the Fender, but I’m getting the itch to want to re-Noico all my doors like I did on Jetta haha.

You didn’t add a passive box or nothing right? I can’t remember what that kit had..

@@LastHumansGarage I didn't install the Focal tweeters, just the two Focal door woofers plugged into the door harnesses in place of OEM speakers. Riveted speakers back in, resembled the doors and the Helix Soundbox subwoofer stopped working. I reinstalled the OEM woofers and all was back to normal again! There were no cross-over boxes with the kit, the tweeters I think had capacitors inline. It was focal IS 165 VW kit. Spec of the speaker was 4ohm, 60watt RMS.

@@jhamm15 so measure the ohms on the focal mid. if its 3.2 then there is not much explanation for why it didnt work

Yeah, no this was few years ago. I returned the Focals since then. The website’s specs say they are 4 ohm woofers.

They stock unit won't output anything unless it sees a certain resistance on the line, this is true even for using the speaker output to a line out converter to an amp its not the speaker impedance alone it's apart from that. Check out aftermarket systems in some of the forums guys. It's happend to guys not even using the oem amp or speakers powered from the oem head unit, it's something to do with being able to tell if the speaker is blown so the stereo doesn't keep trying to drive it more than anything I think like a protect mode 😊

@@LastHumansGarage I was wondering if you would do fast rings and foam. I have a 18 GTI SE as well. I did fast rings foam and roadkill on all 4 doors. The whole system is running on a Audio Control LC6.1200 Polk audio for the doors and a kicker TB10 that hits hard and does not take up much space. I think you will be very happy with the sound quality with the door speaker upgrade and adding the Helix. Thanks again for the awesome GTI content.
