This is the 2019 Audi TT RS. The most beastly of all the TT's, the TTRS has a turbo charged in-line five that puts out almost 400hp to all four wheels. It'And its had a few updates for 2019. James and Thomas jump behind the wheel to see what its really like. Because at $83,000 CAD, it competes with some of the very best. Watch and enjoy. SUBSCRIBE!

Not at all, the TTRS is an awesome daily. The new A45 is a great piece of kit too but I have to wonder how tune-able it is with already over 400hp from a 4-pot; the TT's 5-pot easily makes 480hp with just a map. Plus the A45 is so heavy it's like permanently dragging another two people around in the RS!!

Too many people mistakenly believe the haldex in this can put 100% of torque to the rear axle, which is complete nonsense. I'm glad you pointed out the difference. It's not physically possible to do that with the clutch based haldex system . It can only apportion, up to 100% of AVAILABLE torque rewards, which means the front axle has to have zero traction. So this will never be more than 50% of max torque.

@@sylvainmarier4818 The only reason it does it in less than 4 seconds is because it has AWD, so no, that is not impressive. 0-60 is a measurement of traction, not speed. It's not "really fast", and there are a LOT of cars that are faster for less money.
@sylvainmarier4818
@sylvainmarier4818 5 жыл бұрын
Vernon Price in a day to day, yes it is fast...on the track, no it’s not you’re right but you don’t buy a TTRS to do track or courses. Of course you can buy a mustang or a Corvette for around 60k$ but your not in the same game. Anyway, you can have your opinion but I have mine also.
@vernonprice5986
@vernonprice5986 5 жыл бұрын
@@sylvainmarier4818 But you said it was "really fast"... which it isn't. AWD doesn't make a car faster. And yes you can buy a Corvette for $60k, like the new C8, and then "not in the same game" means you are COMPLETELY outclassing the TTRS. I mean entirely, 100% absolutely destroying it to the point that it's actually laughable. The C8 Corvette makes the TTRS so irrelevant that I have to wonder why they're even bothering. Your opinion that the TTRS is "really fast" is factually, provably wrong. Just because you have an opinion doesn't;t mean it's correct.

No one really talks about the TT RS, and frankly, I am one of these people who love this car. It's just so different from a lot of the other Audi cars that are very well recognized in the S and RS lineup. I mean the 2.5L turbocharged 5 cylinder from the RS 3 alone is enough reason to buy the car. Basically, it's almost a miniature version of the Audi R8, and I already love the R8. And 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds is no joke either. I'm sure because of German underrating, it could go to maybe 3.4-3.5 seconds.

@@gs98999 Agreed. But even with AWD, the TTRS isn't exactly a good daily all year round car if you factor in cargo space, back seat space and low ground clearance. It's just not really practical all things considered. I tend to see it as a summer toy, so essentially your second car, just like the C8 or any other sports car. For all year round, the RS3 would be way better if it's your only car, I agree. But it's not a sports car per se, it's a luxury sport sedan, it's different.

However, pull down the back seats then you have more and deep space to put more stuff in the car because of the back seats which I believe no one wants to try to fit in there. Overall, the TT RS is a great and fun car to drive. I hope one day I am able to afford one of this beauty.

Very nice review (i have watched nearly all of yours). With the TTRS priced at that point, To me it would be a very serious question ,whether to get this new, or the original R8 pre-owned. Useless C8 Corvette. Useless TTRS or RS3. Superb all year round cars. People buy them for their needs. They are better deals cause you drive them all year round. Rear drive sports cars are a waste if you live in 4 seasons. If you break it down per day of use in nice weather, you are paying way too much for a car that just sits. You think you’re giving good advice, but it’s an expensive one.

I sure do have an engine obsession. The 2.5 5 cyl. VW engine is in my opinion, one of the best engines out there. My 2013 Jetta has a 2.5 and as much as I want to get something larger, I can’t bring myself to part with that engine.

@TheSinMOG

M2 would handle better and be more fun to drive on the track. The Audi would be more comfortable and way more fun to drive on regular roads. Test drove an M2 in a downtown area for around 10 minutes and as soon as it found a slight imperfection in the road, all of the glory, all of the wonder, all the hype disappeared. That motherfuckers suspension is not meant to be on a regular road, that bitch will kill your fking ass. The suspension is stiffer and harsher than an R56 Mini Cooper, 2001 Camaro, early 2000s Lotus Elise.

Or maybe how the steering wheel is the same as the R8, or maybe how its 3.5 seconds to 60 stock, or maybe how beautiful the quilted stitched leather is, or... I could go on but this video was obviously created to cast a shadow on this car. I mean when you walk around the car and find absolutely nothing you like about it after you called it "cute". Wedow you have to do a lot more than that just to break into the high 9’s. We’ve only had one at the track and with $38k in mods and ran consistent 9.80’s , which is really quick for an Audi. I’d have to see one do 8’s before I believe that and I’m betting the only thing Audi about it will be the body.

@@wrzl1675 I almost bought the iroz shop car as it was for sale locla to me for 80k with 2k miles on the build. Ran high 8s but over 160k in parts. And yes more than that of course. All the supporting mods built trans etc etc. Car was on Hoosier ffs 😂😂😂 very quick but at 200k+ you can build a much faster mustang, corvette, camaro, hellcat etc. Def a badass car though. Chose a stinger over an rs3 due to pricing. Couldn't justify 20k+ more for it but the rs3 was the better car.

Wedow really? Because there is a full bolt on stock turbo stock engine rs3 that got into the 9s. You may be thinking of the older Ttrs that was slower because of an older engine and an older Haldex system.

The way to think of this car is not as an expensive TT, but more of a very cheap R8. The performance up to 150 mph is quite close really, its about as practical/impractical and you might even get slightly better fuel economy from the TT! ( not that anyone would really be interested in fuel economy) And by the way, I'm in England and I love your vids

The firing order sounds a little less weird if you change the arbitrary starting point. It could also be described as 1-3-5-4-2, one way by odd numbers and reverse by even. This helps to control rocking moment.
