Test drove both cars and the Elantra GT N Line wins ALL DAY! Feels like these guys fell in love with the luxurious squishy leather interior (and the N-Line is pretty decent) over the things that actually matter most. This is a SPORTY HATCH CAR review not a interior review. Power: Elantra, Handling: Elantra, Visibility: Elantra, Storage: Elantra, Roof: Elantra, Infotainment System: Elantra, Price: Elantra, oh and no one even mentioned what was the FUNNER or more ENJOYABLE DRIVE: ELANTRA!!!!

Pretty crappy review. So your telling me a better equipped, more powerful car with better suspension and a longer warranty is not the car to get? Hmmmmmmm...
@c05l244 жыл бұрын
Did Mazda pay for this promo Lol. The Elantra is faster, more fun, panoramic sunroof, heated & cooled seats, heated steering wheel and oh yeah...it can be equipped with a DCT and paddle shifters. Mazda has a great interior and....???

I am a bit confused..one minute you say the Mazda is claustrophobic and not for tall people, next you say it is spacious.

29K for the Mazda is a tough pill to swallow, when other cars close to it are running around with 200+ HP. The GT N Line is the better bargain. I say this as someone who has been a big fan of Mazda, but just see them trying to become a low-end "luxury" brand with "okay" handling and "peppy" power.
@brassrox4 жыл бұрын
200+??? The Elantra has 201 hp, all of 15 horsepower more than the Mazda. The torque advantage is even less. I'll admit, I've not yet driven the Hyundai, but the new Mazda 3 has a great solidity to it and is quiet, plus it has fantastic steering. At 80 mph on the highway, it feels like it's barely moving.
@dougwyse95765 жыл бұрын
I thought the Mazda does not have a multi link suspension. Seemed to be a big deal when Hyundai did not not have it. Would have been nice to actually see people sitting in rear seat. I have the impression your mind was made up before the test even started.

I’d pick the Elantra GT N Line over the Mazda 3 non AWD variant. N Line looks well proportioned when speaking about the design. I’m also in love with the stock exhaust sound it comes with.

Hmm, would I rather have a fun, practical (kind of important in this segment) reliable hatch with a badass warranty or a claustrophobic potato with more soft touch interior surfaces and shiny bits?
@bhill2525 жыл бұрын
Totally depends on what your after. If it’s the sportier side, go with the N Line. More of an all rounder with a more premium feel and distinct look, It’s the 3. I’d take the 3 GT for sure, with the manual.

I don’t think you can now say that knowing it’s now got the 2.5T engine and AWD!

I'd pick the Elantra GT n line over the awkward looking mazda 3 hatch every single time. It's quicker, looks better and has a fully independent suspension, compared to the mazda's torsion beam.

Had a 2011 mazda 3 grand touring hatch that i bought in 2014 with 23k miles. It was an ok car, plenty of room for stuff but not much room in the backseat.It wasnt the most reliable car, even though i took care of it. Had leaks, suspension problems, motor mount replaced and TCM replaced which cost me alot of money. Not to mention that i averaged 19.5 mpg for the lifetime of the car while driving in NYC but alot of highway. The power that it made didnt justify that kind of gad milage. Finally got rid of it and bought a 2020 civic Si. Night and day difference, this car makes me so happu to drive it. Every drive is an event. Power from the turbo is addictive, i love the turbo sounds, handling is much better than my 3 hatch (which by the way had lots of body roll). Its also lighter but feels heavier than the 3 which i prefer. Car has 280 miles on it and i am averaging 28MPG on premium gas and i know it will get better when engine breaks in fully. Mazdas get alot of hype but engeineering wise they are left behind

If they only made the Si as a hatch. Would be more perfect.
@sertyuhg3 жыл бұрын
@@MrTrashcan1 Yes, i was looking to replace my Mazda 3 with another hatch, my only option was the GTI. However i sometimes have four other people in the car for long drives and the Gti doesnt have as much back seat space. Gti is also 5-10k morr expensive
@ray4k9982 жыл бұрын
It can definitely give the Civic Si a run for its money, it’s cheaper and only 4hp less. If it had an LSD and even at least 15 more hp it would be a gti competitor

I test drove BOTH cars. What this review focuses on is finishes (the gaudy red dashboard... bleh) and the feel of dashboard etc. Did you mention the ventilated seats? Did you mention the multi-link suspension? What they don't focus on is drivability and comfort. The Mazda 3 has a very tight driving space. The interior is cluster-phobic. The blind spots are terrible. The Elantra with the panoramic sunroof and better head clearance is a much more drivable car. Excellent vision while driving. That is what needs to be discussed in more detail and not a glancing reference at the end of the review. Guess what...I chose the Elantra GT N-Line and I don't regret it. This review was not a very comprehensive one...

The Elantra GT N-Line definitely isn't a hot hatch. The N-Line is what the Elantra GT Sport used to be.
@jonjohnson4225 жыл бұрын
@@drivingca I would say it is a hot hatch. It's in the same category as a Fiesta ST.

They're closely matched for engine output, but the Fiesta ST is much smaller inside and out.

the Elantra GT is not a true N line that they say they are driving. or else they would be blown away...I hate the misinformation these newby youtube nerds think they know. The true N line is in Europe as the i30. And is and has been blowing away the hatchbacks of all cars, esp. the 3. Get with it.!! The Elantra GT has no N-line in the US. Just in the Veloster!, try that. Idiots! If it were a true N-line..it would have blue sport all tuner buttons on the steering wheels, and many digital spec modes..!!
@drivingca5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Damon! In Canada, Hyundai sells two tiers of N cars. We do have the Veloster N, but below that, we also have the N-Line models, like this Elantra. It's basically a cosmetic package - sporty bumpers, wheels, seats, etc. - with minor upgrades to the suspension, brakes, and it gets a 1.6L turbo engine. The Elantra GT N-Line is like a BMW M340i. It's sportier than the base Elantra but not as extreme as the i30 N, just like the M340i is sportier than a base 330i but not as hardcore as an M3.

Correct way of pronouncing Mazda? I didn't hear anything wrong with it in the video. The UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa, Russia, Mexico, etc all pronounce it the same way. Watch their Mazda commercials. They all say "M-azz-da"... But because the US decides to pronounce it a different way, "M-oz-da", that must be the correct form because the way the US does things is always the correct way, right?! People pronounce things differently. What's so hard to accept?

@@dkeightsix1871 You do understand that pronunciations vary from country to country? Therefore the publication is not disrespectful in the least.
