Front engine, RWD has been my thing lately... So in this one I'll go for a test drive & completely review the NEW 2019 Toyota 86! I'll go over what's NEW on the 2019 Toyota 86 as well as performance, exterior, interior, tech, safety & much more... Hope you like!

Toyota hides the hill start assist inside the owners manual. By default it is set to "off". It's a bit of a convoluted procedure in theory, But simple in practice when you realize it's literally holding one switch for 30 seconds. Directly from page 191 in the owners manual. - from lock, turn car to accessories on - hold traction control off button for 30 seconds - release the button within five seconds of seeing the indicator turn off - within two seconds of releasing the button press the switch again. -hill assist indicator will illuminate, and then turn off. -Turn key to lock, then restart the engine and you should see the hill assist illuminate.

I don't understand the level of hatred for the price of this car. Yes the interior should be better, but other than that it's a phenomenal piece of engineering that cost a lot in R&D. They're not going to sell millions like they will with civics and corollas, so they have to have a larger profit margine for each car sold.

Hello Andrew! Thanks for review of the 2019 Toyota 86! Can't get enough of this car! :) There are some nice additions to new one: the suede accents, the digital display for the higher configurations, and the best in my opinion is the rearview camera in the center mirror! Wow, cool! I wasn't aware that the rear seats fold THAT flat! Amazing! You can sleep there probably! :D Nice review! Nice footage as always! Have a nice weekend!

It has hill start assist, you just have to activate it in a menu first. I remember doing a weird pedal dance for mine.

If you think this car is slow, I get your point, but you arent driving it right.. It's never going to give you that foot flat to the floor, put you back in to the seat feel. That's not what it's about. Such good handling, hold it in high revs through the corners, make sure its manual and its a hell a lot of run. Also, traction control off always :)

I leased a brand new halo white 2019 base model, overall I like it but I really wanted the gt model but because I was a 1st time, they said limit is only $10,000, which this is a $27,000. I don't mind though, still a great car and very happy with it

I have the 2017 Toyota 86 automatic. I came out of the Vw gti . I do use my backseats , it's small but its there when you need it. Some of the reasons why I got the car was because it's non turbo, it's sexy as hell, low center gravity, it's almost 50 / 50 weight ratio, its sexy , the seats has good lower back support and it looks sexy as hell. I would not mind a little more torque and 230 hp would be Sweet ! And it such a sexy car ! The curves, the front, and the back ! Ok, let me stop .

TRD is Toyota Racing Division, isn't it? So for a few grand more, you get a graphic, spoiler, and red interior accents? No additional power? What a great deal! Plus, I don't really like that scalloped front splitter.

Sadly the same thing overseas in Japan with their performance package. They have their "GR" line. Just brakes, exhaust, suspensions, interior but no extra HP. The writer at Jalopnik[.]com titled it "... GR performance line is so thrilling I feel asleep". But yeah a "performance package" for a Prius in Japan.

Yeah, Subaru/Toyota will be making a mistake once the BRZ/86 is in the price range of a WRX or if the MSRP on a base trim Supra is less than $5k more than the 86. That would kill the car - not like either Subaru or Toyota have done much to the car other than facia and suspension and some minor interior updates since 2013...

I thought this thing had Hill Assist and you have to do some black magic to turn in on, right? I remember test driving the 19' 86 GT trim and they guy was like yea the Hill Assist is on. Oh boy did I shit my pants when I started rolling back and a guy was really close to the rear bumper. Either way, I walked out when they couldn't bring it down to 27.5k for the GT trim. No bull pricing, ftw. Don't regret walking out one bit.

This car handles better than anything under 70k, even rivaling some Porsches. It's one of the reason this is the most popular entry level motorsports car right now. It has a complete different purpose from a typical straight line muscle, and in curvy tracks it will beat a mustang.
