Great review on the 19 tundra. I am not here to comment on which truck is better, mpg or whatever. I enjoy your videos for the information you provide on the vehicle I am interested in. You provide that for me fantastically everytime. I also like the overlay pics of different trim levels and wheel options. I always feel more informed and knowledgeable about a specific vehicle when I finish watching your reviews. Thank you again and keep them coming.

Great video, good in depth review. For all the haters, the tundra is a good value for what you pay.It's 55k for a pretty nice truck. What do you get at that price with the others? You still get pre-collision, lane departure, bsm, and radar cruise! You get heated and cooled seats led lights and navigation. What all else do you want?? Toyota's are way more dependable than any of the big three. NO "1/2 ton" pickup should tow more than 10k lbs. Its unsafe. As for fuel milage they all drink fuel when towing. If you want good mileage buy a midsize truck.

I agree. I have a 2015 Tundra Platinum and there isn't a newer truck on the market that could convince me to replace it. It drinks gas but I knew that going in. Reliability is what I'm after. I have had a Ram rental truck strand me when the computer shut the truck down. My uncle has a 2014 F150 and he's had more problems with it than I have ever had with all three Tundras I've owned since 2001.

Yep, I own a 2012 and I love it, and when I replace it, it will be another Tundra. I don't care if the Big 3 offer more options/tech or have better gas mileage(though I would like Toyota to address this). Tundra or nothing for me.

Traded my 2008 SR5 4x4 Tundra for a 2014 SR5 4x4. Got almost 50% of my investment back in trade in value even though it was 6 years old, and 109,000 miles! The 2014 has running boards, dual exhaust that sounds great! Never had any problems with either truck, and I'm a very happy customer. Built in Texas, engines built in Alabama, keeping Americans employed and food on their tables! Thanks guys for another great and honest review! The only thing I noticed on the new models as of 2018 /2019, is the larger gas tank capacity has eliminated the storage space under the rear seats. I really liked being able to hide small suitcase sized tool boxes and supplies underneath and out of sight. With the original 26gal fuel capacity, I could get over 5 hours driving time between fill ups, which was plenty. I can only assume they increased the tank capacity for those towing something long distance.

If you are already a committed Ford, Chevy or Dodge lover, you won't be convinced that the new Tundra is for you. I think this review is for truck buyers hoping to get some insight into the 2019 model Tundra. This review mentions the lower priced trucks, but is mostly for the Limited and Platinum versions of the Crew Max models. With that said, I think it does show the truck well for day to day driving in the suburban setting. This truck will likely not appeal for new adopters, 30" tired, lifted and tatted paint Raptor crowd. With that said, I recently bought my 5th Toyota and 3rd Toyota pickup. My first Toyota pickup was a 1988 4x4. It was simple, all manual, 4 cyl., and absolutely bullet proof. I sold it to buy a new 2002 Tundra. Perhaps the best truck/car I've ever owned. Comfortable, strong running, capable of towing/hauling, or hitting the road for a 3000 mile road trip. I recently sold it for 1/3rd of what it cost new, and the buyer was ecstatic. And, it was bone solid factory stock except for a canopy. I sold it for my 2018 SR5 TRD Tundra, and it also feels great. I did test the F-150, Silverado and Dodge 1500 Laramie. I thought they were all great trucks, and I bet I'd be happy with any of them. I chose the Tundra because of my experience with Toyota reliability and resale value. Let's face it... almost every new vehicle feels great when new. But, I tend to drive my trucks far and for a long time. FWIW, this one will likely be for sale in 2033. Deposits considered.

Here’s food for thought, there is a video on KZbin where there is an interview with Toyotas engineering manager, he was asked, “ why doesn’t Toyota bring their diesel to America for the tundra?” He had a very interesting answer, and very believable giving how most congressmen have their hands into everything,,,,,he said,,,” At this time the United States Government will not allow our diesel in American tundras.” So for me I was always told to follow the money if you ever wanna figure why things are the way they are, here is my two cents, if tundra introduced their tundra with a diesel in America, all the big three would be 234 in sales and Toyota would lead, our government has too much invested in all of the car companies, yes even ford, and a lot of personal investment from senators and congressmen, so my question to all is,,,,Why doesn’t our government allow Toyota to bring is full size diesel to America?
@afh7689
@afh7689 5 жыл бұрын
The US has some of the (if not _the_ ) strictest diesel emission regulations in the world. A lot of manufacturers sell diesel engine abroad that can't be imported into the US. The issue isn't that the US is deliberately shutting out Toyota, it's that Toyota's diesels don't meet US emission standards and can't be imported. Of course, the Big Three have enough market share to justify the cost of their diesels... Toyota just needs to design an efficient enough diesel that can be imported and used in the US (or follow Nissan Titan's lead and use a Cummins diesel).

SS not everyone keep their vehicle “forever”. In fact most Americans barely keep their vehicles more than 8 years. Most people I know only keep their cars for 4-5 years , 8 years Max, so they all lease cars. The tundra is super reliable but dated as fuck , just like the venerable Crown Victoria , NOBODY wants a crown Vic anymore that’s why it’s discontinued despite it’s a super reliable car.

I own a 2016 SR5 4X4, gas mileage is about 14mpg, got the 5.7, love the power availability. My biggest complaint is that the bolts that hold the bed on are raised. when i slide my 5 gal buckets and tools into the bed they hang up. the buckets sometimes turn over. of course most people aren't going to haul tools, ladders, and buckets. My truck is a rolling tool box, the back seats will never go down, full of tools! The bed has a factory spray in coating, maybe that's why. I realize most people don't work out of their trucks. Except for that , I love it! I like that it doesn't have a lot of computer crap on it!

The fuel economy ill admit was a leading factor in not choosing this truck. Plus i needed regular towing over 13000 lbs so i waited and held on to my tacoma/and my 5.3 chevy 1/2 ton . untill i ended up choosing a 2017 ram 2500 megacab cummins 4x4 laramie long horn. Doesn't leak or burn oil and still solid and smooth, even though the last 50K was by two teen drivers. Just basic maintenance. My only complaint has been the timing belt replacements every 90K or so, which I believe the new ones don't need. No need to explain what my next truck will be.

I took my 2006 in for service and my wife encouraged me to look at the 2015. That means I had my second Tundra for 9 years. I didn't need a new truck, I simply wanted to upgrade. Additionally, I could have gotten a Ford F150 cheaper than what I paid for my Tundra with my employer discount. Although I don't work for Ford they offer employee at my company a discount. Even with that financial incentive I still chose the more reliable truck. Now that you know the facts you should sleep a little better.

I really like this truck, especially the 1794. I cant wait to see a redesign, hopefully for 2020! I am a Chevy fan but this is a great one as well. If I work for my dealer as a technician, maybe I can get a good deal on one of these.

Excellent video, as usual! I've always loved Toyota's 5.7L V8. But it is far past time for Toyota to make significant improvements to the truck. The fuel economy is atrocious, interior is dated, and far behind the tech race. Yes, it is as reliable as the sun is sure to rise tomorrow. But that isn't enough nowadays against the Big 3.
@scottvanachte5501
@scottvanachte5501 6 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Reliability is enough. I love ford Styling, more than my Tundra. I bought a Tundra because I want a truck that will last me, 10, 15, maybe 20 years. I know my Tundra will last. I had a Ford before, never again - turned out to be a major P.O.S. Reliability wins over everything else as far as I am concerned.

Exactly. For me the reliability is not just about money. Yes it is, I don't want to be throwing good cash at repairs that can be easily avoided by NOT buying a Ford! But It is also about safety in knowing that my family won't be stranded road side because of some stupid breakdown. Personally I have never had a Toyota leave me stranded. Ever. When it comes to Ford I have several times. Three with my last ford F250 (two sparkplugs ejected from the motor, and once a broken brake line). With previous fords I have had blown engines and transmissions. I will never EVER own another Ford again. I don't care how much tech they have. Ford invests in tech, not reliability. Toyota invests in Reliability and less on tech. Works for me.

So you would rather have the latest in tech but sacrifice reliability? What a dumb comment. Reliability is number one, that's why Chevy got a bail out.

My tundra has 3.09 in rear, didnt consider mpg as I favor towing reliability and simplicity if things go south over extra mpg and gadgets that are outdated in 6 months. The interior could be updated though I agree, the few times I get all the mud out it does look a bit dated.

Test drove a Tundra SR5 version yesterday because my 2006 TACOMA is hitting 250k miles. Every vehicle interior seems archaic after test driving a Tesla Model 3 a few weeks ago. I know, I know...apples/oranges. But seriously that Musk dude is ahead of his time. Anxious to see what a Tesla truck is going do.

I still like how the Tundra looks on the outside and have no problem with it not having all the latest tech. The problem is Toyota has it priced like it is a modern updated truck. And why why why do they have that crazy 2 level floor in the rear with no storage under the rear seat. It is just foam under the carpet.

Is there any trim level that offers locking rear differential and crawl control or is it just reserved for the Tacoma? The review you did was excellent. I wonder about reliability..is it on par with the competition or is it near the top in quality like many other Toyota products? Is there any known issues or flaws with the Tundra?

Truth. I’m shocked at the lack of innovation out or Toyota. Personally traded a 16 Tacoma for an f250. The Tacoma is not for towing at all in any way. I personally hate the seats on both Toyota trucks. I bought my dream truck and hated it.

u traded your Tacoma with a F250? if anyone is making a miserable comparison its you. your broad shoulders or the need for towing capacity was already not a good choice when u bought tacoma. 50k on tundra platinum with a 4 by 4, i can live with that vs the miserable ford or chevy marking with similar model at 64K. One lasts A While the others, Found On Roadside Daily.

@MarlonBrando420 6 жыл бұрын
Okay let’s break this down. My f250 will tow 18000 pounds. It was $50k. A tundra can almost kinda pull 10k and it’s 50k? F250 had major upgrades like a bigger turbo and new interior/exterior styling. If you pay 50k for a new tundra you’re just a fucking moron. They haven’t changed in over 8 years. It’s the same old. It’s uncomfortable and stiff and honestly compared to all the turbo v8s the tundra is slow and under powered for its size. It’s a truck for people who kinda need a truck.

Why the hell are ppl complaint bout tech or mpg in his video? Who cares it’s a freaking truck not a Mercedes Benz or an economy car. I do love my Toyota venza and my Ford Mustang ecoboost.

iseeu2002 thank you!!!!!!! One thing I love about Toyota is that they kept the tundra A fucking TRUCK!!! A reliable truck at that!! People worry about the tech, but if the truck ain’t reliable what’s the point of all the new tech? 🤷🏾‍♂️ Toyota build reliable vehicles they can care less about the tech. With more tech equals more problems in the future imo.

Never in my life have i heard from my family, or my friends, or from anyone in particular say "whats the crash rating on this thing" lol. Does it even matter??
