2020 Ford F350 7.3. Transmission service. What mileage?

I change first engine oil at 1,000 miles and the first trans oil at 10,000-15,000 miles. Second trans service is at 30,000 and every 30,000 after. Oils cheap compared to replacement

Yeah you wait till it's slipping then change the fluid or get it "flushed" and then blame that when it fails completely.

Ford actually recommends the transmission fluid and filter service be at 150k miles. No way I'm waiting that long.

I have a f150 with 95k miles. Bought it used, no record of transmission fluid being changed. Is it too late to change the transmission fluid and filter?

I got a 19 an 21 ram 6.7 an change it a every 75k to a 100k 68rfe trans for the 1st an do the same there for, and do cdl hotshot never had a problem but once 21 stick in 3rd on a 9% grade in PA BUT NO SHAVINGS only in the motor at 100k both had shaving but it the breaking in period at 100k I'm i wrong got 170k on the 19 an 200k+ on 21 you knw better then me but that is just how it's worked for me or I'm I just lucky and u right the 21 ram run better with load then a 19

Paul whats causing failure on the 22? Is it the hydraulic lifters? Is this when they switched to the 10w30 weight?

This is great. Oil is cheap. I deal with public transit ford chasis 450/550 and that Mercon LV turns brown and so dark by 50K miles then the complaint is a torque converter shudder because the fluid has broken down and can't cushion the clutch engagements by then. This is the best advice. Even if it seems excessive to change it so much it won't hurt when it outlasts all the others.

How much fluid does the 10R140 hold on the 7.3 trucks

There are some 10R140 out there getting over the 100k mark now and fingers crossed are still hanging. I’m hoping I get an easy 300k out of my 6.7 powerstroke (keeping emissions intact) and I would be happy with 150-200k on 10R140

Take care of them and they last, ignore fords service intervals. You know as we all do they want them to fail out of warranty so they can make more on the back end. If you maintain a 7.3 and take care of the trans it will work for a long time. I know you are talking about the ps but look into the 6.8-7.3 gasser

I have a 2wd 2020 F250 super duty extended cab with a 7.3 Godzilla and the 10 speed transmission. The truck is equipped with a royal service bed with the heavy utility rack on top. My truck is loaded down in every compartment with hard mounted toolboxes and loaded with tools. The truck was added with two extra overload springs to the leaf spring pack, and the truck still squats. At 140,000 miles the transmission went out now I’m the second driver of this truck the first driver the coworker got the truck brand new with a few miles on it. Now he drove the shit out of the truck and got caught. Towed the trailer several times too fast so it had some abuse. They weighed the truck when he had it and he was pushing a little over 10,000 now that I have the truck, it weighs a little over 11 with all my stuff. When I got the truck it had 112,000 miles on it and it never seemed like it shifted right but did not know how the 10 speeds were at the time. So I got the truck loaded it with all my tools and parts for what I do for work and drove it all the way up to 140,000 and the transmission finally gave out. He never had the transmission or differential serviced. I service the differential had a full tuneup done on it. But anyways Ford put a brand new transmission in it and that was a little over $9000 dollars. I asked the service department what they recommended for the transmission services on those trucks and he said due to the weight of the truck and with the fact that I drive all over the United States to military bases in airports for work, they suggested every 30,000 miles fluid and filter.

With that weight I’d do it every 15k but obviously your boss could care less because he is writing it off anyway and only doing the minimum to start within fords standards on the xl
