Thanks Jim...your videos are a huge help to us newer owners that want to do this stuff themselves instead of going to the dealer for everything...

Jim, I use rotella t 6 on all by bikes, love it makes shifting smooth and quiet also better in lasting breakdown. This is My first 2018 Spyder rt Limited with 8,600 miles. I bought the Lamonster drain plugs as will be better than torks. $132.00 for kit seems way to much. I read somewhere that brp is a castoral blend and is needed for spyder not a blended oil. I only use full syns for not much extra $. I know dealers want everyone to use their BRP, as long as You swear by it. Thanks Tim Tucson

Hi Jim, based on your recommendations I am going to change the oil in my 2021 RT Limited with the Shell Rotella T6 5W40 full synthetic oil. I find it difficult to believe that the XPS synthetic blend is better than full synthetic oils not to mention that I can build two oil change kits of Rotella, an oil filter and the O-rings for the price of one XPS kit. Thank you for posting your video.

I did my 3k today on my 2021 RTL. This 21 is soooo much easier than my 2015 RTS. I used a brand new T40 Torx on the big drain plug and that BRP Torx is out of spec. I use torx very often at work and it should be a tight fit. My 2015 was a tight fit. The H6 Allen head was perfect on the small one.

I checked everything on the 3000 mile checklist as well. So easy to work on. Took some fiddling to get the back end off to do the wire harness and connect them to both brakes. Did not work at first so took the back end off again and ground wire came undone. Worked perfectly after that.

The every other oil change o ring gig bit me in the butt! Oil leak city on garage floor. Cheaper than new oil to replace every time. Just saying 1 and done. THX for the vid.
@JimsTrikeAdventures Жыл бұрын
I have never had a problem. Only replaced maybe twice. I inspect for sure though. If no cracks or worn, I will replace.

This is my first one. But I watched many videos of the older ones and saw how much had to be taken off just to change the Oil.

Jim, where did you get the O rings for the oil filter and washers for the Lamonster oil drain plugs. I want to be prepared when I start the oil drain project. Thanks.

Just changed my oil on my 2015 f3, 80,000 miles on it and I only use brp oil. $140.00 and I changed it every 9000 miles. Never had any metal on the magnet . I will stick with the brp oil!
@JimsTrikeAdventures Жыл бұрын
I have never had any metal on my magnets either. I change every 4000 miles. Dirty oil is bad for any motor. I have always used full synthetic since day one.

Thanks Jim for this video, it's keeper. So from the T6 Rotella container, how much to you pour in after the drain, and do I need to go through all warm up and oil check procedure after the change? I want to wean myself from my dealer even though I get a 15% discount, way too much money for an oil change. I need to purchase the Lamonster oil change plugs. But from the $ I save at the dealer's, and the 3 hour ride, a DIY oil change is a no brainer. Plus, my dealer will not deviate from the BRP oil which is not a full synthetic.

Hi Bill, it is 5 Quarts with filter change. The Hex Bolts and getting rid of that crazy little PVC tube holding on the master cylinder was key. Oil change is really easy now. I have to by 2 gallons of Rotella T6. Pour one gallon entire in. (4QTS). The to make sure I never over fill. I pour one more quart into a 1 court bottle and then pour that into the fill tube. So the remaining gallon is good for 3 more oil changes. Then I just need to buy one gallon for several more oil changes.

Jim, please tell me more about the rotella vs brp oil. Any concerns with warranty? Same question regarding oil filter.

It is great oil. Look at the PDF info on Rotella T6 JASO MA/ MA2 This means it is good for wet Clutches. I have used it for 18K Miles, since the very first oil change. I do change my oil every 4K miles. I do not like dirty OIL. rotella.shell.com/en_us/products/full-synthetic-and-blend-oil/t6-full-synthetic.html

Did you just put the front of the trike up , or did you get the rear up also, was kind of hard to see in the video
@JimsTrikeAdventures Жыл бұрын
I only did the front. My old garage was so small. When I change it again, I will video. I have a much bigger shop now. Not tripping over everything.
