I would by the triton simple, due the the nearly 8k difference between the next lowest price vehicle the dmax. With that left over money you could do all the mods like lift, suspension kit with all the changes to the upper controller arms would make this vehicle more comfortable off road and give more clearance than it already has. For me it’s all about best value for money and what the remaining money could have spent getting a d max instead could get it more capable. That’s what my pick is for the 2021 best Ute of the year 🤙🏼🤙🏼
@lochie98273 жыл бұрын
As I am looking for a tourer, I would buy the D-Max. Why? The relatively premium looking interior totally outclasses the rest of Ute segment in my opinion. Also I admire the 4JJ series engine being somewhat under powered / performance limited to prolong engine life. After all, if I’m buying a diesel vehicle I want it to last and be reliable! I appreciate Isuzu’s warranty as well. It ticks all my boxes and I enjoy watching Graham test the limits of his. Keep up the good work boys.

The small turning circle is great, has enough of what I need in a bakkie without being too much, efficient and we'll priced. The 4*4 options are great for a newbie like me. I don't need extra towing or comfort in a bakkie, I've got 5litre V8 Infiniti for that. Great review, keep em coming. I'd still pick the Triton, the DMax / Mazda being second since I love the brands.

Triton is a great all rounder however I think it should have scored 9 (not 8) for transmission by being the only ute on test with a LARGE oil cooler especially as most had none. That would have put it in outright first place coincidently, same as last year so there's that. Maybe 4WD 24/7 couldn't live that down though.
@sorrrbet49233 жыл бұрын
@@kevinblythe2192 Yeah I think a few of the categories were engineered to make sure they had this 3 way tie for the better watch time. Triton out-performed on transmission, bushproofability, and value for money absolutely. I reckon 4WD 24/7 knew the hate Triton's get from the majority of the 4WD community, especially after they got heaps of it in their last ute of the year when the Triton won. After watching this, I was sold on the Triton so bought one. Lots of people don’t understand the maximum tow weights and how they are impacted by GCM and GVM. It’s not as simple as ‘my Ute is rated to tow 3.5 ton so I can.’ Anyhow, great video.

Thanks for doing these reviews, it's valuable info when trying to decide between them. When I was looking to buy a new dual cab in 2017 I didn't even look at the Dmax, my choice was between the hilux, Colarado and Navara. The hilux won for me and i've absolutely loved it, however the past year I have changed my views on the Dmax and if I was ever to upgrade again, the choice would be between the Hilux and the Dmax handsdown, I'd not bother to look at any other dual cab.

Well i own a 2014 4x4 Ford Ranger 3.2 plus a 2017 4x4 Hilux 2.8, and honestly i love both my trucks. But for a 4x4 work i would go with my Hilux, because i have used my ranger on the farm and in the bush, and spent most of my time getting stuck or using my winch to pull me out. When i use my Hilux on the farm or in the bush no worries what so ever. I think because my lux is a lot lighter than my ford, just seems float over mud and water. So now we just use our ford for trips out of town. And the Hilux stays home and does all the work, both great machines highly recommended. Awesome video guys, keep up the great work......

This has definitely helped me think about my next long term vehicle. Ive been comparing the Hilux, D-Max and Ranger. With that price difference and good stats im thinking a low mileage D-Max in the coming years with a nice touring canopy. Thanks guys!

I find it hard to believe the final scores when Amarok topped the list on 5 categories and only lost points in some that most people watching will modify 5 minutes after leaving the dealership. Those who have them swear by them
@4WD2473 жыл бұрын
Hey Andre - as we summed up - if you're wanting a tourer and staying away from 4WD tracks - a ranger is a great buy - that engine is ridiculously good! We wouldn't recommend it for really tough 4WDing, or really remote areas where you can't afford a 4WD to break down.
@rgfc11143 жыл бұрын
Me to. Although if you take into account most of its failings are easily rectified it remains a compelling buy to those of us that want one. I was just concerned at the limitation on its suspension fundamental.

Glad to see the Triton still up there but absolutely glad that it was the mighty D Max that has taken it away. For me personally the Triton is still the best. I do not have much regard for suspension lift. Chassis over hang is not an issue really for high capacity but low weight loads and the towing issues of the Triton are not a train smash.

So I've got a 2017 hilux, great wagon. Test drove the 2021 model last week, it's a rocket ship. Ive also got 2017 highly modified BT50 as my work wagon, shes had an intercooler upgrade and remap, and the new hilux would still jazz on past it. Admittedly the Mazda is running 33s however, I'd go the new hilux all day. Had a 2016 Dmax, it chewed out its rear diff by 55km. Hilux for sure

Awesome guys! Like last year, a thorough shootout of all the popular 4wd double cabs. You picked it last year that the new d max would be serious contender for 2021. D max ,bt 50 are awesome, the new cabins are treat to sit in. Haven’t done a test ride in either, was a little harder as stock vs demand has been high, particularly the d max, seems everyone wants one, wait time is 6mths. Mazda bt 50 have the stock available, pricing is a little at odds with Isuzu. Nevertheless Mazda has the pedigree and. I like the look of the new bt 50. But as I don’t do heavy towing, and looking at other aspects of the top 3, the Mitsubishi gets the gong. I’ve driven 2021 GSR, pretty refine compared to a few other 4wd that I’ve been in of recent. Love the Isuzu/ Mazda, but it’s the mitsy got me

For what we need to use it for we will opt now for the DMaxx and I have forwarded your video onto my niece as she was getting a Triton but wanting to put a large canopy on for her dogs and tools so I hope to move her over to one of the other models. As a Mum I liked that the DMaxx had back seat air vents for the kids and USB ports and my husband likes the coffee holder at steering wheel level. Not technical of course but suits our needs better.

I own a 2014 VW Amarok twin turbo 4 cyc. Whilst i find it comfortable etc, i can see the Germans over complicated engineering proving a challenge in adverse conditions. In regards to what you have reviewed, I would support a Toyota Hilux , having owned and driven many different Toyota’s over the years, build quality is certainly up there, however resale would be the number one. Toyota in general seem to defy depreciation standards. Mitsubishi is unfortunately at the other end of the spectrum, where there value plummet. Thank you for the review, very informative.
