My experience with modern BMW 4 cylinder turbos is they are extremely fun around town, but ultimately lose steam on the top end causing them to get beat by bigger motors. The newer b46/48 engines are quite nice.

I can see many dodge enthusiasts here. For me I wanted to see if the base 330i all wheel drive was as fast as the charger r/t. What I saw was two daily drivers battling it out. One gets over 40mpg ( tested through a youtuber ) highway and the other gets 25 ( I havent seen any videos of highway fuel tests for the charger r/t. Im considering both of these cars for future purchase. For me it seems like the newer bmws have really come a long way in terms of reliability with these newer motors ; The ( b48 motor ) 330i, and the scat pack equivalent ( b58 motor ) the m340i. Im not a bmw enthusiast or a mopar enthusiast, but I do own an 05 Ram Hemi truck, and for the most part it runs just fine except a weird intermittent turn signal light failure and the 12mpg. All in all dodge seems like a solid choice if mpg is not an issue, but bmw might be good too.

B48 with updated high pressure fuel pump can do 350hp on stock internals and 450hp with upgraded turbo while still getting 32mpg hwy. Reason is the closed deck block design and forged components. Ignition system is pretty robust too.

if you own a bmw (f30) at least then you know that if you put it in sport then turn traction off it’s no longer in sport. use SPORT+ if you want traction off and put the (ZF8) transmission into manual for no delayed shifts and you’re gapping that rt buddy trust me. you can also get bm3 stage 1 without any mods but that’s another story 😮‍💨

The curb weight is about 1000 lb difference, which in general (I'm talking very generally..) 100 lbs is about 10hp. Think the cars were pretty evenly matched up. charger makes a ton more torque in the low end so its mucj harder to get it to launch right. I'm assuming the stock 245s were on there but with 295s or a 305 would walk this bmw even with the perfect awd launch.

For the part about Mercedes underrated their cars, ive heard that a few of the German companies like Mercedes and BMW, actually use their wheel horsepower numbers as their ratings. So the 255hp in the BMW is actually closer to 300hp at the crank.

@danoff__ BMW and Mercedes have been known to use their wheel numbers as their crank numbers for awhile. If you look at bmws and look at cars with similar weight and hp ratings, the bmws win. And I remember seeing a dyno somewhere of a stock bmw getting near the crank rating at the wheels. Many companies did this in the 60s also, or st least underrated them, same with the 98-02 LS1 camaro and firebird. They rated them at 305hp but they dynoed at like 295 at the wheels.

@@besicm1 ehhh.. plenty of guys on the 5.7 forums getting into the 400-500hp range NA. I think the big reason the charger struggles here is the rear gearing. I believe 3.90 is a factory option.. but I read some Daytona's come with 2.65 which sucks bad. 🤷

I had a 2020 330i and the dodge chargers would underestimate me, anything under a scat pack i would win off the lunch or like low speed roll race. Now i have a M340i and scat packs are not even competition

I don't know anything about the HEMI longevity, but I bet the BMW will break much much sooner if driven like that daily. I expect the HEMI to outlive the BMW at relatively the same performance. Those BMW turbos run at high compression and the engine revs higher, just means it dies faster. Yes, the BMW is probably better handling, more comfortable/luxurious, and fun overall, but if you drive them like you're on track daily, don't expect them to last (I mean the drive-train, engine, transmission, and diffs). Once they break it's very expensive to fix. So if I was in the US, I'd probably get the HEMI, unless the HEMI turns out to be poorly sound insulated and very noisy on longer trips. Plus the V8 sounds way better. Here in EU, when we see an oil stain in the parking lot, we joke about there having been a BMW parked recently. Though Audi and Mercedes are even more unreliable. Never buy a German over-engineered car out of warranty, especially so if the car was tuned or in an accident.

Love the HEMI. Just can't stand to look at anymore narrow body chargers 😨😱🤢🤣. The widebody scatpack is where it's at for me. No way dodge is making the 5.7 a widebody. I wouldn't see a point in that.

I had a '13 charger interceptor with the 5.7 and all the police gear was removed (weighed like an rt then) and with the more aggressive rear gearing it moved pretty well. But still! It was more of a cruiser with a great soundtrack from the motor. Lovely car.

U made a mistake about launching the BMW. In order to engage launch control, first u need to drive the car for 10 minutes uninterrupted. Then put the car in sport+ and gearbox to S mode. Then left foot and the break right foot on the gas gently and just before take off u should push the gas to the max and “kick it down”. Anything other than this is not launch control.

It would have been embarrassing if the 5.7 Hemi hadn't won. Everyone saying get the M340i to race the 5.7 Hemi... we all know the M340i would destroy the Hemi. Even the 6.2 Hemi wouldn't stand a chance. You need a Hellcat in order to beat the M340i. As others have pointed out, we need the Accord 2.0t now. I think that would be a seriously good matchup.

@@djzulumask2138 I retract my statement. An M340i and Scat Pack would be dead even. Interesting. As for M3/M4, there’s a video of a race between an M4 Comp and a Hellcat, and they’re neck-and-neck. I think a lot of people underestimate just how fast this gen M3/M4 actually are.
