I bought a jluw and couldn’t be happier with it! Willys package is perfect for the guy who dose light trails like this one here in this video. Now it’s cheaper than the rubicon and let’s be honest not every thing on a rubicon is going to stay on it if your a hard core wheeler. so why not get the cheaper model and add your own axels and lift to site your needs! And I would say 75% of all Rubicon owners will never use it to the full extent of its ability anyway and the other 25% of the ones should be buying the Willys package because they’re the ones who are going to rip out axels for one tons put a lift on it and just make it for what suits their needs. Nice review thanks

I enjoy your videos, bro! I just ordered that (almost) exact spec'd Jeep - 2021 Firecracker Red Willys. Mine is a manual, but otherwise, it's the same! How do you find that limited slip diff in the rear? I know we don't have lockers, but, I hear that limited slip is helpful. Also, another question, did you go stock stereo? Thoughts? I didn't go Alpine.
@SammyZaidi83 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching, Rob! I think you’re really gonna have some fun with it. I’ve definitely felt the rear slip diff help with the snow and combined with the traction control it does a really good job of keeping the ride steady. Maybe one day I’ll switch it out for lockers but I really haven’t run into anything this couldn’t handle so it doesn’t seem necessary for me. And yup! Stock stereo, it sounds fine but to be honest I could see a music aficionado wanting an upgrade from the current set up. Hope that helps!

@@SammyZaidi8 it most certainly does! Great info - thank you. Where I live (down in the Keys), I probably will never need more than what this Jeep is capable of. This'll be my 6th Wrangler! I've been wondering how someone that had a TJ felt about the newer Jeeps. I sold my 05 a year ago before I moved to Japan for a job with the Navy. I'm over here in the Far East for another two years, but I plan on getting a 2 door Wrangler when I get back. I've been considering buying another TJ, because I just love the classic look and how most everything is mechanical and easy to work on, but I also realize the new Wranglers have a ton more technology and creature comforts. As someone who's owned them both, what are your thoughts on this, Rob?
@robr.32473 жыл бұрын
@@michaeloffgrid First, thank you for your service. As someone who loved his TJs (I had the 6cyl and 4cyl), I can say the new JLs are absolutely the closest feeling/looking to that model. I've had my JL for about a month now, and though I'm still in the honeymoon period, I can say unequivocally that the JL Willy is just a fantastic Jeep edition with, as you mentioned, all the modern 'necessities'. I love the ride, handling, and very updated comfort features. Yes, that 4.0 engine was a bit more fun/torque-y, but, the 3.6 is a great powerplant that offers smooth energy across the band. The soft top is night/day easier to operate, too. I can honestly say, if you choose the JL, you will not be disappointed. Yes, the TJ will always have that nostalgia...though don't let that sway you away from the new model. Keep us posted!

@SammyZaidi83 жыл бұрын
Hey Alex! I’m actually not too sure. Since it’s my daily driver I don’t see the practicality of giving it a lift and bigger tires as that’d effect the MPG. Either I’ll eventually get another car and can have some fun upgrading this over the years, or maybe trade it for those new electric powered ones that are coming out. Ultimately I’m following the ol’ “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mantra, so if things need to be replaced after some wheeling stress I’d go ahead and upgrade those. Also moving to LA soon for at least a year and a city Jeep doesn’t need to be kitted out all to much lol. Thanks for watching!

Congrats man! Yeah they’re fun to drive for sure. Next video I can include somewhere if I’m 2H or 4H/4L. About 70% of the time I was in 2H on the trails in this video, but shifted into 4H a couple times like on that ice hill or when the ice broke under me over the water pool. I’ve only gone into 4L twice so far, one of those times was in the video before this one when I got stuck. Since this was mostly mudding I was in 2H and sometimes took traction control off to do some sliding around. Thanks for watching bro 🙏🙏

@SammyZaidi83 жыл бұрын
New Bronco actually looks pretty cool, you can add the “Sasquatch” package on any trim level to get the lockers and everything a rubicon has pretty much. With the Willys you definitely can modify it and install diff locks and sway bar disconnect in the future. I may look into that in a few years once I transition this from a daily ride to a full off-road project. Between the Bronco and Jeep, I guess that’s up to you! I like the looks of the Jeep and know it’s a proven ride. But I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Functionally they do the same thing but I think the Bronco, since it’s newer and directly challenging Jeep, has some cool bells and whistles I wish the Jeep had. The Jeep 4XE also could be worth checking out since its a hybrid. Good luck on your choice!

I'm researching a 2dr willys for purchase now; I think with the rear limited slip and open front I would put a locker in the front. The weight of the engine and driver would help traction and the rear locks with excess spin. Then again, the willys gets the dana 44 axle in the rear (vs rubicon front and rear, sport neither) so if you're planning big, aftermarket tires, you might want to lock the rear instead as it is the strongest axle on the willys
