I had two CX-5s but downsized to the sportier CX30, always had my eye on them. Pleased with both but really luv my Premium 2023 CX30, black with light greyish interior! You do lose trunk space and rear seats are tight but my kids are grown so it's perfect for me.

I'm in Europe. Test drove both models, opting for the CX-30, which I collect in two days. I notice that model names/numbers in the US differ, so it's a little difficult for me to tell like for like. It's a shame you didn't mention the engines though buddy, because while underpowered, the have some super features regarding how the engine timing is offset when enter a corner, pushing a little weight to the front, and then reset on leaving the corner. Also the the opposing front wheel brake will dab it gently - resulting in superior handing, Oh and you didn't show the HUD, which is so cool.

The most important difference between these two vehicles for me is the interior room, particularly rear seat passenger room, and I didn't see anything in the video that addresses that. I like the compact, more streamlined look of the CX30, but I guess I'll have to go see one in person to get an idea of how well back seat passengers fit.

I have had a lot of new cars over the years but never a Mazda until now. I recently purchased a Mazda CX-30 Preferred and I absolutely love it. I due a tone of driving and wanted a smaller SUV Crossover type vehicle with some decent options like AWD, Moon Roof, Heated Seats, Premium Sound System , Lane Departure, Upgrades Cruise Control etc etc.....Mazda has it all. I live just North of Boston and drove with ease in am ice/Snow storm last nice for 2 plus hours....I'm ver impressed in every way. If I could change anything......everything else being the same maybe a few more inches of interior room...being 225 lbs and with the winter jacket and all i little extra room would be great without needing the CX-5 because the preferred package for that vs the preferred in CX-30 would bump me up a few k more I'm sure and than it would be more than I would want to spend. I do think it drives like a luxury car though and the road noise is low...when i do less driving i would love an Audi A5 (my daily driver dream) and I hope it lives up to my current daily driver because I think I am now a Mazda Fan for life. .....if anyone knows the answer to this....The CX-30 Preferred Package has Premium Sound.....the Premium Package as a 1# speaker Bose system (honestly, im not sure how it can sound better thsn what i have) but I don't see a name brand on the Preferred Package Premium Sound....Does anyone know? I just got a cx-30. I love it but those adaptive headlights annoy me. They seem to pick up on a reflection from signs and auto dim for no reason. I'm trying to get in the habit of turning them off when I first start the car. Low beams are plenty bright anyways.

I prefer compact sized vehicles so the CX-30 is about perfect with it's almost Corolla hatchback sized street footprint, but with better cargo capacity. 173″ L x 71″ W for the CX-30 versus the 172″ L x 71″ W of the Corolla hatch.

I own both 5 and 30. The cx30 is smaller all round but better technologied. The newer 30 is a better drive by a mile. One complaint is I bang my head lots on the door roof of the smaller 30 vs my driver seat of the cx5 thigh supports is compressed from getting down. Smaller frame wife gets the 30, but my bigger frame suited the 5 obviously.

@@JSS just yesterday, I got to drive a cx30 service vehicle which I suspect had a larger 2.5 engine to my wife's 2.0, about two weeks younger than mine, and it sailed across the hills and suburbs of Melbourne effortlessly for about 3 hours and had a lot more acceleration on top of the smaller body which slung the car easily through corners and hills. I must add if you love driving through traffic a 2.5 is a must have in the smaller form of the cx30 as compared to the heavier cx5. Both my CX are 2.0

I'm getting a cx30 tomorrow. I had a Mazda 3 preferred sedan that I lost in a flood driving through pretty deep water (horrible idea I know), so I wanted another Mazda because they drove amazing, but need something with a lot more ground clearance. I personally don't really like SUVS but the cx30 seems like a good blend of car and crossover.

You should check out some flood videos. Japan, Iran, Germany, etc. Personally I'd not risk the lives of others trying to rescue me because I thought it was ok. Which I wouldn't. Mazda means God (Persian), so I guess you was in good hands, but... Hope the new mazda exceeds your expectations. 👍

Yes you can. There is a map that will allow you to locate the car. Then you can flash your lights when you get close.

@@treubuchet Over all I really like the car, I have a 2020. I love that you can buy regular gas, but if you want full power, you have to buy 93, which is quite expensive in my area. But 227 HP is a pretty good amount of power. I don't like the door handles as the unlock button is only on the front 2 doors, it would be nice if it was like the CX-30 where you put your hand behind the handle and it unlocks on all 4 doors. A full sunroof would be nice. I like light colour interiors, so I got the white interior, I wish they put more white in it like on the dash and passenger side and the door sills. The steering wheel is only half heated. I love the HUD display and the cooled/heated seats. I find the HVAC controls too low, I wish they where higher on the middle console. The backseat leg room could be deeper, but it's comfortable enough for most adults, but I don't drive many people in the backseat. It's a near luxury car and a tonne of features for a good price and Japanese reliability. If you don't need space, get the CX-30 as it's 300 lbs lighter, so it'll be even quicker. Otherwise, I highly recommend the car.

Oh man, I didn't realize that the cup holders on the CX-5 are between the arm rest and the round knob (volume?). So if you have a drink there, the drink would get in the way of turning the knob. Kinda strange. But also, the CX-30, that video screen seems like it's low, like sunk into the dash as opposed to the CX-5. lol, ohhhh gosh, oh well. If it's not one thing... Thanks for the video.

I usually carry large take out cups in the CX5 and I get used to reaching over. The CX-30 screen doesn’t seem too out of the way when you’re driving.

A good point re the CX-30 infotainment screen but honestly, when you've adjusted your seat, it's (lack of) size is really barely noticeable. The high-end finish of the car's interior will have your neighbours drooling with envy. Mazda appear to be making a big push for 'up-market' models. The interior reminds me very much of German cars - free from clutter, minimalist functionality but well-crafted and thought out layout.

A CX-30 Turbo Premium w/AWD is generally the same price as a CX-5 Carbon Edition Turbo w/AWD... about $33,500. The CX-30 will have extra technology, but the CX-5 will have more room,, comfort, and better appearance, imo. The appearance of both vehicles is subjective.

Thank you for the Video . Very informative . We just ordered the cx30 S L Lux automatic, it’s 122 Bhp. It’s the second grade and had quiet generous equipment. I really hope we made the right choice. As this grade was the one affordable for us. I would have liked the 18 inch wheels but I guess the smaller the wheels a more comfortable drive. It’s going to be a car that me and wife are going to share. We have a five year old also so hopefully the back is roomy enough. We considered the cx 5 but the cx30 seemed more refined and current .

The 5 is a better choice for a family. The 5 is rumored to be getting an updated design in 2022 if that matters. It mattered when the 3 got the new design in 2019. I'd wait if that was an option.

Cx5 is best if you want room. Cx30 is great for active people who might not be taller than 5'10" awd is a plus. I ended up with a beautiful black mica cx5. I love it.

You certainly won't consider the CX-30 then bro. It's essentially a taller, and slightly shorter Mazda 3, and with the reduced wheelbase, your rear passengers need to be less than 72 inches tall because it is so tight.

The CX-5 was the first vehicle to be designed and assembled with the KODO strategy in 2010. That was the first generation CX-5, and the second generation (2017-current) is designed with that in mind.

Technically not a SUV. Here in Europe we refer to it as a sub-SUV. While the models appear as tall as a SUV, once in the driving seat, you're as low as a hatchback (is that a term in the US?). Also the boot is too small for a SUV too. Still, it's a great car.
