The Perez hate surfaces again. I just don't understand it, guys. The man has a solid race (again: P4 is NOT A BAD RESULT), and Matt piles in. Too often, Matt goes over the line of good natured teasing, and into disrespecting his colleagues. Apparently, he did so to such an awkward extent this week that they actually cut the footage from the podcast. One only wonders what he might have said. Katie, as ever, is the blessed voice of reason. God bless her. :)

To be fair looking back Matt giving Perez B was well deserved. He didn't really have stellar performance in the best car on that day and even with slow stop Max would be ahead of Lewis. Giving Checo higher rating than Bottas would be kinda insulting when Bottas kept up with slightly faster ca, capitalised on small opportunity and managed to hit constant laps for the whole duration of Checo chasing him. I feel outrage at the rating is more about toxic fans rather than unfair rating.

@@pyron4913 Having another think on this, a B is an ok grade for Checo for this race. He did a good job and a B is a good grade. I just had to vocalise the more general points that this podcast has been super critical of Checo, and that Matthew's manner can be rude/disrespectful. I'll keep watching the podcast though. Tommy and Kate are lovely, and I'll make more progress encountering views/behaviour that I disagree with than staying in a bubble of affirmatory opinions.

@wft1 as a fan of yours, i want to tell you a constructive criticism about your postcast. With all do respect and good vibes to make this better for everyone. I think matt should respect more Katy s opinions and let her time to explain herself freely. I dont know what happend in the Perez ABCDEF part but i guess it wasnt good, if you had to take it out. Hope is not the case though. But it seemed to me katie was really uncomfortable after that and also Tom as well. If it was the case, let Katy freely say whatever her opinion is and explain herself, without interrupting her everytime with your own opinion, is defitnetly not good and is showing at least to me she is not having a completly nice time. No action at the top? A slow Norris cost PER 11 laps to pass and then a slow pitstop made him lose the battle for third. Checo went on to "drive the wheels" of his car right to bottas at the very end. 0.6secs (was 25+ seconds). If that's not action, then what is?

"After 8 races we're use to saying Hamiltons won it" Not at all. 2018 - Ham - 145; Seb - 131 (Seb was ahead by the 9th race) 2017 - Ham - 139; Seb - 153 (Seb ahead again after 9 races) 2016 - Ham - 117; Nico - 141 (Ham behind once again) Only since Bottas and this insane Merc development/Ferrai falling apart have we had the season over after 8 races. I hate this revisionist view that ham strolled the title every season after like 2 minutes.

What I value the most about Max is that he never jumped ship. He did get a contract from RB and stayed there. MERC did try to get him to but RB signed him first and Max never did look back. Many said that RB did build a car especially for Max when Gasly and Albon could not drive it. But if that is so, more goodies to Max. It seems that they succeeded. Now, with some years of feedback from Max they have built a car, that is for now, the car to beat. It’s standing Nr1 in driver and the constructors’ championship. If Perez can adopt even more the RB16B looks unbeatable. It reminds me of the Schumacher times when he formed a team and won multiple championships with them. Somehow it deserves more respect then taking a gamble, jump teams, and end up with the team with the best car and win with them. Within the team the respect for Max must be incredible and for good reasons. Now we can enjoy the rest of the season and hope it will be as thrilling as the first 7, hmm 6 races! Statistically Max is in a good place now. With 14 wins he is in the top 20 of F1 drivers with the most wins. Al but 1 of the other drivers did become (multiple) world champions. It seems it is now just a matter of time.

On Russel's issue: pneumatics are used to control the valves in the engine, so without pneumatic pressure you can't run the engine. The same thing happened with Fittipaldi in the Haas during the Sakhir GP last year, but they were able to keep the car running for the entire race.

I can't believe how many mistakes Hamilton is making. We just left France where he hit a curb towards the end of the race, going off track which helped Max massively to overtake him in the final laps. Before that Max was unable to get closer (4 to 5-sec gap), but after that Max won the race. In the qualifying session for Austria Lewis was all over the place. Lock up in Q2 and an off road excursion in Q3. Failed horribly on his last try. Even Bottas was quicker. Compare that to Max who looked very clean (though I have heard he did have a tricky moment in the race that I have not seen myself) and beat his teammate easily. The race was not clean either. There was a very dangerous moment where Lewis almost lost control of the car, driving the Mercedes partly into the gravel. Imola is not that long ago (where he drove into a wall) and a bit later into the season he might have done it again. On top of that, our tire whisperer started to get blisters on his tires while Max was simply pulling away on tires that he kept all okay. I don't know what is going on with Hamilton. I associate his behavior with Vettel, not Hamilton.

I like Leclerc's radio after the race, it sums up nicely what Katie was saying. One of his best performances whilst also one of his worst. He knew if he hadn't made the mistake he would have been in a better position maybe even putting pressure on Noris but he did do a great recovery drive which can't be denied. (A lot better getting through the back of the pack than I believe Bottas for example would have done)

I really don't get the hate boner for Leclerc on this one. It was a lap one incident. They literally all know we judge lap one incidents differently than the rest of the race. He wrecked Gasly's race and that's super shitty but he isn't literally the ONLY reason that kimi and latifi made contact with Gasly. There was errors with how they drove around gasly too. We have seen so many incidents like this with no penalty so I'm shocked they are so vocal about it.

Let me get this straight, Katy wants to give Leclerc a D who ended up only 1 place behind his teammate after a good recovery and a great weekend over all with Quali etc compared to Danny ric C who lucked into 8th (due to Leclerc's error) and was put back to where he started from mechanical faults... while his teammates was fighting in 3rd!?!?!?!? It was a 3 inch move to the right on lap 1 mistake, he didn't divebomb 5 cars for god sake. Way to much hate in my opinion.
@Lily1127channel

It's because he is Leclerc and for some reason people like to hate on him and make fun of his Lap 1 launches. BUT this time it was not like Sakhir or Styria 2020 (he got a penalty for Sakhir lap 1, a very rare thing for a lap 1 incident, so I don't understand the crying "he never gets penalised"). This time they were kinda both to blame, maybe Leclerc a bit more, but it was a typical lap 1 incident, we have it kinda every race. The launches Max made on lap 1 several times this years, they only didn't cause the same collides because it was always against Hamilton, the only driver who moves away cautiously. Gasly said they BOTH misjudged it and it was a racing incident, Masi said the same and he gave a full explanation why it wasn't even investigated. But couch sitters know better 🤣

Katy, I always agree with you, but your take on Charles was so infuriating. What happened at turn 1 was judged as a racing accident (we are NOT capable to judge better) and his overtakes after dropping to p20 were a masterclass with no doubt. Last week Max also did an error on turn 1 but we righly praised his mega performance: Charles was definetely at least a B, if not an A. What we've seen on Sunday was the pure talent that will be the real rival of Super Max.

50:26 But it's perfectly fine to say Sainz should have been DOTD and at the same time give him a lower grade (B or C) for the whole weekend, isn't it? Driver of the DAY is only for Sunday performance, but you guys usually rate the whole weekend? With Saturday just as important for the grade as Sunday? I mean, Sainz shouldn't really get an A for this whole weekend, taking quali also into account, should he? He basically finished the race just around the place he had to finish, with this weekend Ferrari's pace. He just put himself on the backfoot with a very bad quali, several mistakes, lap time deleted for track limits, out in Q2, outqualified by a Williams, 5 places behind his teammate. And on Sunday he recovered it with an excellent drive. Put himself on the backfoot, but then recovered. Just as Leclerc. Leclerc put himself on the backfoot on Lap 1, but made up for it in the race and finished around where he should have. So quite similar at the end of the day, and Katy wants to give one an A and another a D? 😂 Sainz should get one grade better than Leclerc because he was the one who finished ahead among the two of them, so it's A-B or B-C for them.
