Nice overview of both! We have a ‘23 Tacoma, but we are looking at moving into the Tundra - specifically for towing. On a recent trip, I was able to get almost 25 miles per gallon simply by keeping it at or just under the speed limit on the highway and using the cruise control. The trip was about three hours so the Tacoma has definitely been great on gas for a truck. I have the SR but four-wheel-drive so that’s pretty decent has mileage. The challenge we have is growing into a larger travel trailer, will require a Tundra kind of strength. That 4,000 ish pound difference matters. And that’s what let me to review, so thanks again!

Gas at $5 per gallon makes the Tundra an expensive choice. $135 every fill up and filling up every 7-10 days…that adds up fast

Great review! Loved the host personality, made the entire thing easy to watch. I’m leaning with the taco over the tundra, while I know I may be towing a small trailer in the future, I won’t be doing it often to justify a bigger truck that eats up gas.

I've owned a 2021 Tundra since it was new, have 71k miles on it already, never had an issue, and get about 17-18 MPG on average (I live in the CO Rockies at 8500+ ft). Gas mileage can vary dramatically depending on how you drive. The only real thing about it is he isn't kidding about the blind spots, especially in the front...BE CAREFUL BACKING WHILE TURNING - I dinged my front driver fender pretty bad on a damn cement parking pylon that I couldn't see while backing out of a spot and turning - these things swing wide when ya turn. Overall though, best vehicle I ever owned.

Great review! I owned a Tundra several years ago....what a great truck! Currently, looking a purchasing a new Tacoma, however I'm having a "hard" time adjusting to the "bouncy" ride? Almost like a "covered wagon"....lol!

Main point I’m looking for is Interior comfort Space Love everything about the Tacoma But Last four trucks have all been Full sized Fords Can I handle At 6’2 Interior space Would like feedback on that Don’t care about towing and mileage and power. Fit and finish on Tacoma Outstanding

Im a Tacoma guy because I dont need the weight and power of the tundra and i save allot on gas this way * edit * - if you do NEED the power and weight of the tundra for business or pleasure than sure get the tundra

It can certainly be, but a little unsolicited advice…make sure you do all the computations to account for everything right down to the weight of yourself, passengers and pets…leave room to spare because every item, pc of food, camp gear, chairs, bikes, dishes, etc - all counts. Sadly, dealers (neither RV nor auto) will most likely NOT sit down and figure that all out with you. Def do the research beforehand 🙂. Oh - every trim is different too - some carry more towing ability. And Tacoma does NOT provide trailer brakes standard (my dealer told me to go elsewhere to get it done) but I was told on Tundra, it is standard (as seen here). We also added a weight distribution and anti-sway system even though our current trailer is barely 4000 dry pounds and the manufacturer talks about adding both after 5k. Just to be safe. Lastly, we’ve learned (the hard way - for us) it’s much better to have more truck than we need than not enough. You might be fine local towing or flat landing it but mountains, lots of cross country trips etc…(?) Hope that helps!

The tacoma is just too small . I like my beds 6ft and over . My tundra has a 6.5 ft bed and I wouldn't get anything less

Flash forward to 2024 and everyone’s begging and wishing they could have these older tundra and Tacoma models. The new ones are absolute trash they’re absolutely overpriced and there’s now dozens of recalls including transmissions and engine recalls. These two models are now up 30% over MSRP years later because everyone wishes they had one nobody wants the new ones.the brand new Tacoma is advertising $9000 off MSRP. Insane.

And who is getting a truck for fast? The Tacoma is the better off-roader. Tundra is the better one to move a family with. Tacoma is for that person that wants a truck that can do what a jeep does and still have a bed and towing capacity.

is no comparison, I own both trucks I love them both the Tacoma is easy for parking on narrow streets, easy to get in and get out, saving on Fuel, but overall I love my Trd pro, it is in a different level, I feel like I’m driving a sport car, The only difference, is that I could go off road, both trucks are great it all depends what are you using the truck for.
