I have grown to love the new iDrive and would agree it is the best current system (and I rent many other types of vehicles and it makes my other vehicle system seem like BlackBerry or Palm Treo). One of the things that is my favorite is the speed at which it is available. Sometimes I’m on my phone and I open the door and as soon as plunk my ass down in the seat the call is already on Bluetooth and I’ve not even pressed the start button. I’ve got to drive two blocks before other systems boot!

This is the best most honest review I have seen on this car and I have seen them all because I am in the market. I drive a 12 year old (had since new) BMW 135i coupe (manual) and test drove this new 240i a couple of days ago. I really like the interior and features and wanted to love the way it drove , however, driving this car I felt completely disconnected and it just confirmed how great my 135 is.

BMW electric steering leaves a lot to be desired. But you don’t get good steering without spending a lot more money. Other than that I think it’s a great all a rounder.

Same. Love my 135i, save for the fact that every time I think I've replaced everything that should break on it between 70-80K miles I'm proven wrong every 6 weeks or so. 😂 Still the best driving car I've owned, praise to my local indy shop for keeping it on the road for me.

No doubt. BMW not only underrates their horsepower, they also underrate their MPG. Mine's rated 28mpg highway. I get 30mpg+ in mixed driving, verified at the pump.

I say ‘if’ but we all know that’s exactly what they did. This car, for me, is the perfect daily driver for high performance fun, year round, in New England, which is exactly why my fully loaded one arrives in four weeks. Meanwhile, for my rear drive, purer driving thrills, ultimately, I’d like a 718, or maybe even a Miata. BMW aren’t stupid. This car perfectly fits it’s brief.

Can confirm. The ZF is superior than 6speed in 99% of driving situations I find myself in. Sure there’s less driver engagement but it’s quicker and much more convenient. If your car is going to be a DD it’s no contest.

I had a chance to drive the Supra and 23' M240i back to back, and 100% Supra is no where as refined as the M240i -Extremely polished experience. It might be a heaver car but you can't feel it. I was neck and Neck with a Modified G8! Flat Out! Supra is just a track car; you can't see out of it, it has huge A-pillers, over shoulder blind spot, and trash infotainment (delayed, dim, lacking tons of features for the $$). JBL Audio is absolute waist of time. Put your Supra in Sport mode and try to stay out of trouble! That what it was built for, one thing, Going Fast and getting sideways. Very Edgy Car! ... I Bought the M240i :D

Great review as always. I've been eyeing the new 2-series - well not from the outside, let's be real, from the driver's seat. I'm sure the 30i has better steering. The new G-platform 2-, 3-, and 4-series cars with the smaller engine have a brand-new steering setup for this generation, whereas the 40i versions have to make do with the F-platform cars' steering rack. Apparently the new steering rack wouldn't fit in the 40i models for packaging reasons. My wife has a 330i with the M Sport package, and I actually like the steering in that car a lot. Similar to my now-departed Mk7 GTI, the steering is fairly light and ramps up the steering rate in a more natural way instead of abruptly like you guys mentioned in the video.

You should review a plain base 230i without the added M Sport and Dynamic handling options. It’s a real bargain starting at $36k. Mine only has the Convenient Package. It’s a terrific daily driver with rear wheel drive and 255 hp and 295 Lbs of torque. Handles and drives nice!

I've heard these arguments before, with people saying the newer model is "better." I heard it about the S550 Mustang when I had an S197 5.0. I drove the S550, and there are definitely some things about it that I liked better. I still liked the S197 more overall. Raw numbers and refinement aren't the whole picture.

Here in UAE, there is quite a price difference between this and Supra. Supra is available for around 220K AED vs 290K AED for M240i. I so want to go with M240i because of practicality and better daily drive avaibility, but difference of 70K AED / 20K USD is pretty large.

This car surprised me in many ways on Spec sheet you supposed to hate it: 3800+ lbs, 225 front tire on wide body and it's BMW not JDM. But once you drove it for 20 minutes you realize how much capability BMW pack in the 52K MSRP car: it is as fast as M2 competition and ride through all the bumpy/broken winter Manhattan street in Comfort mode. 2021+ Supra is 58K MSRP car with markup and forget about any stock or stage 1 Golf or Subaru STI they are not on the same speed league period. Added the rear bias Xdrive yes the tail will step out any second / third gear corner with 50-70% throttle and some room to play.

The M2C is a different animal. It puts fun at the top of the requirements. No adjustable dampers, minimal sound insulation, much, much sharper handling. The 240i is a daily driver first, fun car second.

It's probably one of the best all-in-one performance oriented cars out there right now. The weight is correctible but it's still just one passenger different than a mkiv supra in weight. I wasn't overly impressed with the pirelli sottozero I swapped them for nokian and it was a night and day difference in all aspects.

Scion TC haha. I kind off agree. I personally don’t think it’s that’s bad looking, BUT it doesn’t look as expensive as it is on the exterior. I do appreciate the attempt from BMW designers, to bring a more “boxy” styling to it, like BMW’s of old, but it doesn’t have the classic, sharp angled, boxy Euro design that the E30, E36, and E46 models have. Let’s hope that this is a start to a more classic BMW design, because personally, the E90/92, F80/82, and G80/82 designs are just not that great. The E90/92 M3 had a good design, but it was the start to the poor design that followed it unfortunately. Im happy with the interior design here, as well as the performance, which now makes me think, should I even consider an M2 at this point???

I've got an IS 350 and my wife has a 330i. I've driven an RC F before. It's great. But, Lexus and BMW cars have such different personalities. Hope you get to test drive both and feel out which one is better. I think you can't go wrong with those options though lol.

It's insane how often the statement "BMW 2 series is better than Supra because it's more practical" is made. For some reason, everyone seems to think Supra is a direct 2 series competitor, while Z4, which is 95% identical to Supra, isn't at all. Insane. Just compare 2 series to Z4 and it will make it obvious that Supra and the 2 series (rear-wheel driver, M, all of them) serve two COMPLETELY different purposes and "practicality" was never the intended purpose of the current gen Supra. BMW 2 series is more practical -- ok, but people who buy two-seat sports cars know what they're getting into. It's kinda silly to compare apples to oranges and then say that apples are better just because you can make a BETTER apple pie with apples (something that oranges were never intended for).

@@Daniel-dj7fh a new M2 is definitely coming. Been testing in camouflage for many months now and should be revealed very soon. Same concerns though around the front and rear as you guys. Another designed and built in Mexico car. Doesn’t seem right for an M. My regrets around not picking up a 2021 comp are growing.

@@MrCarGuy Well, I don't hate tall grille itself. I hate all the unnecessary graphics around it and how it doesn't fit the hood line. and current 2 series is also awful with these fucking triangles and unproportional headlights that don't fit any other line on the car. Previous M2 was beautiful car, just as 3, 5 and 8 series. I just hope there is still possibility of good-looking BMW product.

We're a 1-car family with a kid and dog and centered around the obviously compromised obese brother, the 640i GT to cover all bases. I don't think I'll ever let it go. I'm interested to see if I can counteract the weight with a stage 1 E85 and the waftiness with some KW coilovers when warranty ends. Wheelbase is the rub on twisties but a dream on rapid California cruises given a good radar detector. It's a rock that I want to nudge towards 340/240 handling territory as much as I can. This channel did a killer video on it that I would like to believe helped convince the wife. I made sure not to marry someone who would force me into two economy cars rather than one great machine like this. B58 is liiiiiife.

I was watching this with my wife. I am currently in a Scion tC. I actually love the look of both cars. Thanks to dealer mark ups I will cross shop this with the 86. It is almost as if the universe just gave me a sign to go for the BMW 230i. Hope you guys can get ahold of the RWD 230i to get a more detailed look at a lighter version of this car.
