I took a 2019 SV650x for a test ride. Fell in love with just about everything the bike had to offer except the clip-ons. It felt like all the weight was on my wrists. Ended up with a late model 2018 SV650 that I still cherish every moment in the saddle.

Got the standard version which is my commuter bike. They are without doubt one of the great bargains out there, I tried a variety of 650’s including the new Triumph Trident and can safely say nothing beats the Suzuki as an all rounder when you take the cost into account.

I definitely agree. It is the perfect first big bike. I had luck to try one, although it was not 2022 model, maybe 19 or 20 but it was a pretty awesome experience. Almost bought one after that. You were on point with everything. The clutch assist is neat and will definitely eliminate some anxiety for new riders and helps to enjoy the ride. I would highlight the factory exhaust sound how good it is, I loved it. And when you accelerating, that grunt. Cannot imagine a better first big bike. It can give so much fun. If someone is looking for a first big bike or want to go down from litre+ bikes due to certain reasons I strongly recommend to take one for a spin.

It wouldn't be a deal breaker but I like it in the car (one flick of the key vs a turn and hold which I have to do in the van which is the same make and same age). Makes the van seem every so slightly more useless and old - human/machine interface makes a big difference and the science isn't new. First impressions count. We are fickle things.

@@Englishbikerdan I have a black widow exhaust with no baffel. It makes such a nice difference to the sound of the bike. And it's not too loud. For longer motorway stints. A tip is to sit further fwd on the seat. It takes all the weight off your wrists, but the wind noise is absolutely horrendous, even with ear plugs. I also use one of those palm throttle grips, makes a big difference on longer trips as the vibes can make your throttle hand go numb. I'm m 5ft 11, 14 stone and have done 300+ mile days on mine. It is quite comfortable, once you get used to it. I did Wales last year and will be heading up to Scotland this summer. This year I've done over 3.5k miles

Would definitely be the standard SV for me. Rented an S a few years back and wrist, knees and lower back were suffering in town. But that engine… lots of chug, lots of midrange and decent top end. Catch the revs right away from the lights in second and it’s surprisingly quick. If yr on a budget second hand market has some great options, the aesthetically challenged Gladius can be had for peanuts.

I absolutely agree! My first "big" bike was a 1999 sv650s unrestricted (I did direct access) and it was a fantastic bike. My next bike after that was an 03 GSXR 600 and whilst it could be more exciting at times, you'd have to be going VERY fast to get that. I think because the SV handles so well for what it is and has a relatively small amount of power, it makes you feel as though you are getting everything from the bike, and all at semi sane speeds too. Having said that, it's also the only bike I've ever got a speeding ticket on 😁

While,I have a soft spot for the regular Sv650, if one of these was on sale at the dealership,i would have no problem buying one. 80 miles per gallon would also be a primary reason i would buy one, realizing ...lol...your mileage may vary with how many times you dump the throttle and rocket off into the sunset smiling from ear to ear.

@englishsteel-nz6im2 жыл бұрын
Totally! All the "budget bikes" thrown around you look for a mix of quality/practicality/function/looks mixed with a price point that's very competitive. You don't look for cheap--- IE Royal Enfield, which people delusionally state "is bringing simplified riding back"-- nah, Suzuki is truly doing that and Kawasaki as well with a lot of recent offerings. Let's take a look at the SV-- it's good components, good looks, nice sounding torque-y V-twin, very user friendly and being that Suzuki's R&D costs on this and other offerings(like the GSX-S line)are well paid for-- they can offer a pretty premium bike for the value that's directly as good anything they're competing against. I have an SV and a GSX-S so maybe I'm biased but I just feel like in their class there's no better value for the price point and they're not overly saturated with tech so it's real riding--- I feel like real riders really appreciate these types of bikes-- but they aren't cheaply made. The brakes are great, suspension is good, components are good(not talking KTM level, but not cheap)and the engines will last forever. You can't go wrong with an SV if you're looking for a 650 bike. Plus it just me or does Suzuki really tend to nail aesthetic styling?
@TrustyZ900 Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Have a new SV and a Z900. Before I bought the Z, GSX1000's were on sale and I didn't trust myself with it, but still ended up with the 900. Love the Z, but would have liked to experience the GSX-S.
