Drove a 23 taco, 23 colorado and a 23 frontier all same day, back to back to back. Taco drove like shit. Slow. Terrible brake pedal feel. Sloppy on road handling. Chevy has the best brakes. Quickest/torque! Ride was solid and planted. Bold styling. Surprisingly comfy seats and driving position. Tech was top notch. Frontier rode about the same. Not as planted as chevy but still stabil. Brakes were good. Tech was bad and camera was laughably terrible-like 144p resolution. Steering was heavy but i was used to it after a test drive. Good power but the torque isnt there. Went with the chevy. Taco eliminated itself before we left the parking lot. Frontier tech and lower torque (also low stance) took it out of the race. Happy with my Colorado. My drive to work everyday and back is great.

Tried and true truck technology (engine, transmission) and I love the steering system that my Titan has on it. As for the Colorado, I do like the styling but I hate that you have to go into an infotainment system to operate the lights. I like the Frontier’s proven power train, but 1100 lbs of payload is unacceptable for my needs of camping gear, shell, tongue weight from our small camper, passengers, dog, etc. I want about 1,500 lbs of payload. The Colorado has superior payload and better tow capacity. But, GM trucks are among the worst in terms of reliability. I am buying at the end of 2024. I will check out both along with all other mid-size trucks. You said the horsepower is the same but car manufacturers measure peak horsepower. On a turbocharged engine the horsepower is significantly lower until the turbo kicks in then horsepower drops off again after peak boost. The turbo also increases heat and pressure in the combustion chamber. To protect the turbocharged engine and prevent knock extra fuel is sprayed in to cool the combustion chamber. The extra fuel isn't burned and is dumped into the exhaust. Since turbocharged engines use fuel as a coolant you will never get great fuel economy in a turbocharged truck. The body on mid-sized trucks are heavy and hauling or towing will make it harder to control heat in a turbocharged truck. A naturally aspirated engine doesn't have a problem with knock and has a more useful torque curve.
