I just bought a 2025 Nissan Frontier after looking at the GMC Canyons and the Chevrolet Colorado as I talked to the mechanics and they told me those 4 cylinder turbo engines in those trucks were horrific and problematic and they take up so much of their time repairing which is why I stuck with Nissan.

Ben, the frontier is a truck! It doesn't care about a 50 inch screen, or 10 different modes I 4 wheel drive. It does care about crash test results and reliability! I have a 22 pro4x, it's the best buy for the money for sure! Thanks for all of you're reviews!

@@westcoastplinkin6559 the 24 tacoma is a garbage can on wheels theyre trying to sell to you as a pristine product. Ive never come across a vehicle with so many issue and I had a 6.0h no at one point. The sad part is they were so close to building the best truck in the class. though having a buzzing fuel system, vent whistling on the auto climate packages, digital noise from the screens, having to de-tune the engine to keep from blowing up the front diff, the transmission issues, the starter issues, and all the beds being misaligned with a rattling tailgate cable just doesnt make for a winner. The tacoma also doesnt want you to have control of much of anything. In standard in 4 low it will not let you upshift if youre on a decline regardless of speed/rpm. Oh and the biggest issue the motor is just about 20-30ftlb shy of what it needs, lord forbid you at a 2'' leveling kit and 33's its going to drink fuel and constantly be searching for gears.

@@westcoastplinkin655922R is a COMPLETELY different animal. They are very under-stressed and very dependable. The only thing on later ones is that Toyota got cheap ( shades of today?) and reduced the stout double row timing chain to a single, which can stretch faster and break guides. I have a Z24 in my Nissan Hardbody. Same era, displacement. And similar HP. This slow but torque 4 banger works for me. These old Japanese designs are like tractors, compared to the complex stuff like these new turbo fours. They have tripled the horsepower from the same displacement, so I can't see them going 300 or 400,000 miles without expensive repairs. It's strange, but I still like my 100 HP truck after 30 years. Just installed new h2o pump and starter. Total cost of $100 from Rock Auto .

They couldn’t fix the shuttering, gear hunting 6 speed then, so great idea to even complicate it more with a turbo. Will never own a Chevy again. I’m on my 3rd frontier and never an issue with any of them. The 22 pro4x now has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Both are great trucks. Given I tow a small camper and haul camping gear and must have a shell on the bed, payload is a primary variable for me. The Frontier is a wonderful truck, but with just over 1,000 lbs of payload an absolute deal breaker for me. NOPE. The Colorado has nearly 1,500 lbs of payload. That is nearly a 50% increase in payload in addition to the Chevy towing 1,000 lbs more. I need a midsize truck to tow and haul in addition to being a daily driver. Both are solid trucks, but easy for me to pick the Colorado.

Had nothing but good luck with my 2017 Colorado, and there was nothing glaring about the new gen to dissuade me from going Chevy again. Best midsize, best trim, for the money. Since my purchase I’ve pulled a trailer from west Texas to the San Juan mountains and back, and done some 4-wheeling. Tremendously impressed with the torque and off-road capability. As for Frontier test-drive…felt like I was right back in my 2007 NISMO. Clumsy, heavy, and the engine felt nearly identical to the 4 liter…just ok.

Of the three folks that I know who have purchased a Chevy, all three have had their trucks in the dealership for one kind of issue or another. And I'm not talking about a loose trim piece or something insignificant, I'm talking engine or transmission issues where the dealers had to keep their trucks for a week or two. Damaged my skid plate 2X's. Dented my door! Every time, they did an oil change, they damaged the bumper, putting the skidplate back on. I averaged 13.5 MPG, too. I have a 2024 Frontier Pro4x and would take that ZR2 anyday. Its far, far more capable with more ground clearance and front lockers and better shocks and the drive modes. Its also MUCH nicer inside. I know my truck in the long run will probably last longer being a proven N/A v6 and I do love it(I know it sounds like I dont) but its the least capable mid-size truck. The Tacoma has more ground clearance and you can get a disconnecting front sway bar. The other mid sizes have locking front diffs and more ground clearance. I am comparing top trims since the P4X is Nissans top trim. It makes sense not having all that because its been the cheapest option but now you can get ZR2 for 48k new now(Checked the two closet dealers and they were between 48-53k) so for the price now, ZR2 is the best option. When your buying the "Off road" type trims such as the P4X, ZR2, Raptor, TRD, etc you want capable. Otherwise you get a base model with a few options and save a lot of money. Thats where my comparison comes from.

Fronty is nice, but give the Ridgeline a try too. Doesn't have to be a real "truck" for the way many people use it. I'd wait till they put the new DOHC J35 version engine in it. Might be in the next few years.

A frontier for 50k is stupid. At that pricepoint you get more bang for your buck with the Colorado. The only reason to buy this over the chevy is the NA v6. the chevy does everything else better. Especially at trail boss or zr2 trims.

How is the na v6 better? The Colorado's power #'s says it all😊
@1asian1phone
@1asian1phone Ай бұрын
@@zbassr2106it's not about the #s. NA V6 is more reliable in the long run than a turbo v4. I test drove the GMC canyon then the frontier back to back. Even though the canyon has more power on paper the frontier felt better off the line with a more linear power delivery and smoother shifting so I bought the frontier. I followed all the truck forums too and I know all manufacturers have issues but Nissan had less overall . All the GMC canyon forums had a ton of electrical issues, quality control issues, and dangerous flickering headlights which is now a recall, etc.

All of these "mid size" trucks need to increase the size of their crew cabs by about 3 inches. Also need better rear seat back cushion recline angle. Very uncomfortable.

lol it's always the same thing online "The Nissan is better because the GM has a turbo!" so dumb... do some research, the engine in the GM product is solid as a rock, it's been on the road in various products for 5 years now and there really isn't anything to complain about in terms of it's durability or reliability. You can want the Nissan because you like the Nissan more, it's an amazing truck, but the internet argument thats always made with the Frontier that it's best because it's NA is nothing more than repeating bad information.

I had one and it was junk. Anyone with a brain and basic mechanical skills knows that a naturally aspirated engine is more reliable than a turbo charged engine. They are far from “solid as a rock” the recalls you can easily search on Google make you look like a bafoon 😂🤡

The Chevy has a small pump to keep the turbo cool when coming to an abrupt stop. In turn, reducing wear on the turbo.

Not too long ago people were afraid of fuel injection and traction control/ABS. the part that I find most astonishing is that turbo-diesel engines are known to be the most reliable and long-lasting engines on the road, and yet none of these guys are screaming about how those turbos won’t last 50k miles even though they are doing the exact same thing. GM designed the 2.7L like a Diesel engine with a forged bottom end and robust cylinders/heads, and went a step further to give it a cooling system which operates independently of the engine.
