The sad part is they were so close to building the best truck in the class. though having a buzzing fuel system, vent whistling on the auto climate packages, digital noise from the screens, having to de-tune the engine to keep from blowing up the front diff, the transmission issues, the starter issues, and all the beds being misaligned with a rattling tailgate cable just doesnt make for a winner. The tacoma also doesnt want you to have control of much of anything. In standard in 4 low it will not let you upshift if youre on a decline regardless of speed/rpm. Oh and the biggest issue the motor is just about 20-30ftlb shy of what it needs, lord forbid you at a 2'' leveling kit and 33's its going to drink fuel and constantly be searching for gears.

I have a 2024 Frontier Pro4x and would take that ZR2 anyday. Its far, far more capable with more ground clearance and front lockers and better shocks and the drive modes. Its also MUCH nicer inside. I know my truck in the long run will probably last longer being a proven N/A v6 and I do love it(I know it sounds like I dont) but its the least capable mid-size truck. The Tacoma has more ground clearance and you can get a disconnecting front sway bar. The other mid sizes have locking front diffs and more ground clearance. I am comparing top trims since the P4X is Nissans top trim. It makes sense not having all that because its been the cheapest option but now you can get ZR2 for 48k new now(Checked the two closet dealers and they were between 48-53k) so for the price now, ZR2 is the best option. When your buying the "Off road" type trims such as the P4X, ZR2, Raptor, TRD, etc you want capable. Otherwise you get a base model with a few options and save a lot of money. Thats where my comparison comes from.

lol it's always the same thing online "The Nissan is better because the GM has a turbo!" so dumb... do some research, the engine in the GM product is solid as a rock, it's been on the road in various products for 5 years now and there really isn't anything to complain about in terms of it's durability or reliability. You can want the Nissan because you like the Nissan more, it's an amazing truck, but the internet argument thats always made with the Frontier that it's best because it's NA is nothing more than repeating bad information.

Don't try telling people that the turbo will last long or cheap to replace.

I had one and it was junk. Anyone with a brain and basic mechanical skills knows that a naturally aspirated engine is more reliable than a turbo charged engine. They are far from “solid as a rock” the recalls you can easily search on Google make you look like a bafoon 😂🤡

@@edwardbudnick2871people like him always make me laugh, he really thinks a turbo charged engine will be less of a headache than a naturally aspirated one 😂

The Chevy has a small pump to keep the turbo cool when coming to an abrupt stop. In turn, reducing wear on the turbo.

Not too long ago people were afraid of fuel injection and traction control/ABS. the part that I find most astonishing is that turbo-diesel engines are known to be the most reliable and long-lasting engines on the road, and yet none of these guys are screaming about how those turbos won’t last 50k miles even though they are doing the exact same thing. GM designed the 2.7L like a Diesel engine with a forged bottom end and robust cylinders/heads, and went a step further to give it a cooling system which operates independently of the engine.

@BenHardyCars Talk slower man. It’s very difficult to understand what you are even saying. Just being real…!
