I have bought a malibu here in Canada. It was way cheaper than a camry which was selling above MSRP due to "shortage". I think a lot of car dealers are creating this artificial shortage to grab more dollars out of customers. I refused to give into their tricks and got a 0% financing deal at Malibu. Its a nice driving vehicle, can't complain. Only gripe I have is the dashboard protudes more towards my right knee so I have to keep my seat much more back than I could if it was straight- eating up a bit of rear legspace unnecessarily. Also, the slanting roof design means I either bang my head on the pillar while getting in or keep my seat way down and putting strain on my knees while getting in/out iof the vehicle. For the price though, im not complaining. Its a very nice vehicle, basically same price as a corolla here in Canada but much more practical!

Most midsize sedans needs models have been losing features compared to their previous models. The sonata lost rear heated seats.

The interior/exterior on the Malibu is just so much better looking. It will age well, the Camry is more contemporary style wise but it will look very dated in just a few year's. the Malibu styleing is much more conventional and will look good 20 year's from now. I like that Toyota put some color on the interior but that shade of red is harsh on the eye's.The Malibu interior colors are more conservative and better matched.

American vehicles have always had a more solid build quality than Japanese. To say there is 8 years between the 2 vehicles is a bit misleading, the automotive landscape has not drastically changed since then. Chevy could have easily redid the front and rear end and throw a larger infotainment screen in as did Toyota, however Chevy is on a different mission than Toyota. The Malibu has just about all modern features of today, however it just rides on an old platform, as do the Camry.

Camry gets 5 star plus on all segments. Toyota is solid and completely safe. Toyota did more than that LOL. They completely did the interior design as it was aged, They decided to go with a new transmission, new 5th Generation Hybrid engine and added AWD to all its lineup, for the US and Canada they ditched the gasoline only engine. Yes, they kept the platform and its is a good one. Now, on the insulation. Toyota holds back on insulation and puts it in parts to make them last longer than any other vehicle. Gm does not have market leadership in Sedans. The Japanese dominate the market. Remember problems per 100 Toyota and Lexus just about every year are near the top. Chevy is mid tier in reliability.

You're really selling that rental queen Malibu! I can get a better deal getting a K5 GT-Line AWD with better amenities than that ancient of days Malibu!

Selling it vs crossovers. Yes, there are more modern and fun options out there, including the Camry in this video.

@@GTGarageTalk People say this about the Camry all the time. However, for what ever reason. Toyota withholds insulation on certain parts of the car like a door closing and puts it in parts for long term reliability. Toyota cars will hold up years down the road compared to Chevy Cars. Toyota puts money to make its sedans last for Hundreds of thousands of miles. Many Toyota Camry vehicles have over 300,000 miles on them and are still on the road after decades as I have one with over 230,000 miles and had had no major issues with this 2010 Camry SE. Just look at Taxi and Uber, most of the cars are a Toyota Camry.
