For the latest Mercedes-Benz Drive Pilot pricing and information:
www.kbb.com/mercedes-benz/s-c...
Autonomous driving is a hot topic these days. Everyone from Tesla to GM have systems they're testing and using on the road. But in spite of what manufacturers say, those are SAE level II systems only.
Mercedes-Benz is the first automaker to have a level III system approved in the United States in the Drive Pilot feature. Both Nevada and California have approved Drive Pilot for legal operation, which means if you've got an appropriately equipped S-Class or EQS then you can drive hands and feet free with your eyes elsewhere than on the road.

Strange that it would be a subscription based feature when all those cameras would be built into certain models that would have it already… 😶

I was watching in interest until you said subscription fee per year. I find this stupid in EV cars that have forced obsolescence. How about you make a subscription service for oem parts, service, and warranty, for example say a 2008 C63 AMG that people want to collect and love to drive.

With two MBUSA representatives in the car it looks more like a promo video, and Lyn being a hostage. 🙂 This L3 mode with all these restrictions is a joke. Other cars has the "stay in lane in traffic" mode implemented for years if not decades. I did not quite get the tone about Tesla FSD. It in fact really works, it can drive itself pretty decently, and not just stay in the lane. You should try it!

@@kbb Yes, Comma 3 is legal. It's also safe, as long as you're paying attention, just like the system in the video requires. It's completely handsfree. Uses a driver monitoring camera. Lane keeping. Adaptive cruise. Stop and go for certain vehicles. Traffic light and stop sign recognition. Automatic speed limit adjustment. Of course, the level 3 system in this video is more advanced, tech wise. My main point is that it's pretty amazing how much Comma 3 can compare to a system that features more cameras and sensors and costs infinitely less and is compatible with over 250+ different vehicles.
@ALMX5DP
@ALMX5DP 9 ай бұрын
@@BrianLambert SAE level 3 doesn’t require someone to be paying attention to the road, only that they are able to take control and pay attention at any time. It’s a subtle but distinct difference to current assisted driving systems. Comma 3 is great though to incorporate into current vehicles but despite its appearance of confidence and capability it’s still fairly primitive.

$2500 a year?! Woof. I think the cost of these subscriptions will keep the technology from really blossoming. I have a Mustang Mach-E myself and would have been OK with $600 for 3 years of BlueCruise, but when they said it would be $800 a year… I think I’ll pass. Cool technology though.

No offense, but this demonstration was literally the worst and extremely unimpressive. You were literally just driving straight in the same lane at like 5mph the whole time. It was just using adaptive cruise control and lane centering, which many cars have with level 2. I wanted to see the car make decisions and take turns, as well as identify and stop for obstacles and pedestrians. Those are the things that make it level 3.

Outside of heavy traffic (rush hr), no one is going to be driving under 40mph on the highway period, and then what do you do? So it’s the SAE level blame the driver in an accident stage, No parking podcast talked about this is in 2018-2019 I’d like to try this if it came with the vehicle with no additional changers, and worked during sunrise and sunset. Otherwise it sounds like a bad adaptive cruise with Tesla Phantom braking and quite frankly annoying. Also this whole system is designed to take your hands off the wheel but you have nowhere to put your hands comfortably when you do.
