Thanks for this video. My three-year-old granddaughter is always asking me to plant flowers in my vegetable garden. She loves watching the pollinators fly from plant to plant.

You should try zinnias with her! They are easy and grow quickly! Plus lots of beautiful colors!

Eucalyptus I love it, can’t wait to see how it grows. I have never grown from seed. Love cleome. Great video very helpful.

I’m in wise county and also use the same BM7 soil. I do pre soak mine though. I use one side of my living area and my seed starting shelf is in our school room. 😂 my dad will be building me a greenhouse soon so I’m stoked about that. One of My goal this year is to learn more about cut flowers and doing floral arrangements and hopefully drying things to make wreaths with my kids later. Glad I found your channel!!

Oh, eucalyptus! How interesting! I had no idea it would would grow here. That’s exciting. I know nothing about cleome so that’s interesting too. I do like scabisosa but never tried seeds. Right now, I don’t have the indoor place or space to do much advanced seed starting but I’m looking forward to trying some inside and the rest outdoors this spring. Really enjoying this seeds series! I’m getting motivated. 😁

Consider winter sowing … it’s outdoors and won’t take up indoor space!

I ❤️ when KZbinrs mention new verities I’ve never grew before I would have never started lisianthus if I’d never heard of them and now it’s a must for me every season heard they were difficult to grow but I ended up loving to grow them each time I get better success this year I didn’t over water them let them dry up a little after they germinated and none have died so far. I started begonias from seeds 🤞 I hope they make it

I’ve grown a pink variety of cleome ( don’t recall name) but they reseed sporadically and in the most unexpected places 😅 Their seeds are easy to collect and I enjoy them in the garden but didn’t care for them in bouquets because they had a “prickliness” to them. Enjoying watching your seed starting and can’t wait but have to here in Canada 🇨🇦 zone 5!

Cleome has done well for me in NTX, but I agree it may need some shade. Mine in full sun did not like this past summer.

Ive been considering growing begonias from seed for my window boxes to save money, but I feel like I wouldnt have the time to baby them, with the 1000's of seeds I start each spring for my cutflower & veggie farm + personal flower & veggie garden. So i think I'm just going to stick to purchasing them. 😄

Wow you really pack that vermiculite on! 😂 I am less heavy handed with vermiculite with the small seeds that need light to germinate, but I'm curious to know how yours do with such a thick layer because sometimes I stress that I may have put a little too much, & it will hinder germination. I also heard (I think from Lisa Mason Zeigler) that most seeds that say to surface sow them, its not actually that they need light, but that they need more oxygen. 🤔 which i thought was interesting.
@shesamadgardener
@shesamadgardener 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips! They all did well except the begonias which had low germination … those are the ones that had no vermiculite. I think it will varies from situation to environment to gardener to products …. We all different situations and therefore might end up with different opinions as to what works well for each of us.

From what I’m reading Beaujolais Bonnet scabiosa is perennial in zones 4-10 maybe that’s why the seeds are different, fama deep blue is perennial and I found those seeds to be different than other annual varieties
