One thing for people to keep in mind is the situation with the spare tire. I dont consider a canister of slime and small air compressor adequate at all plus if this is used it's likely the tire and TPM will be ruined resulting in a very expensive repair. Also the information for the exact correct size spare is not readily available in my opinion. If a person decided to buy a full size tire there really isn't a place to store it plus the alloy wheels and the tire size isn't readily available so if a 19 inch tire is ruined there will be some delay getting it back on the road. if I had known this it would have been a show stopper for me. The 23-24 Prius is the only car that uses these tires. Also if the 12V battery dies and the car needs towed a 12v source is needed to unlock the park position. Overall very disappointed with the purchase even tho I'm fine with the operation of the car otherwise. Most of the issues you mentioned aren't a problem for me.
@HumbleBearcat10 ай бұрын
It's unlikely that battery will become so dead that cannot even unlock the tranny. Both of my friends own 2010 Prius and the 13 year-old 12V batteries are still good today. I also wish that there is a spare tire. I would probably buy 1 full size tire and put it in my garage or bring it on a long trip.

A 12v lithium jump pack is cheap and good insurance for any 12v battery issues. I keep a tire plug kit in my vehicles, never had to use it.
@stellingfan9 ай бұрын
Yes, the 12v pack is on my list. I spent the money for the proper Toyota parts and now have a nice temporary spare but under the right conditions a good plug kit and the little compressor would be better. Also the compressor Toyota supplies can be used with out the slime if needed.@@mowcowbell

They have spare OEM tire kits that fit in the storage place about $125.00
@TomLawlor-iq6gm4 ай бұрын
If you own a regular Prius Hybrid you can source a Spare Kit from Toyota. It includes a full size tire and rim, lug wrench/jack, modified foam inserts and, a steel shield to protect the electrical junction that sits in the "tire well". There's also a wheel hold down bolt hole already in the well. Sadly, the kit will not work with our 2024 Prime. There is no wheel well under the hatch floor, it's all battery. Nowhere to stow a spare ! In city driving, a spare is not as important. But, with our roads, a long trip sans a spare with vast distances between towns a spare is something you very well might need. Our immediate concern is with finding a set of winter tires. At the moment, no manufacturer offers one in the 195 -60 17" size. In our city snow tires are really something you need. I visited a local shop, asking them to find us the closest size in a winter grip. They came up with a a 215-60 16". Price; under $240 CAD for tire and matching rim. Getting a set sort of solves the lack of a spare problem. On long trips we can throw the "spare" in the hatch and carry on.

Will need more time behind the wheel to really feel out the steering wheel position and the pseudo-HUD. Will probably re-watch this once mine gets through this current recall process and finishes its journey to my city, it's currently sitting at the port 4 hours away!

Good overall review but I disagree with a lot of the negative quirks you list. I have the XSE Premium Prime and love it. My previous car was a 2004 Prius which I drove for 19 years until i got my Prime. The three issues I have are as follows. 1. Not as easy to get in and out 2. Rear window view is less 3. The reduced rear cargo area However, those three negatives are overwhelmingly minimized by the much greater number of positives. The number one being the huge difference in power. It's even more noticeable in the Prime. BTW, my Prime is also much more quiet than my 2004 Prius. So, I guess, it's all relative.🙂

Auch ich habe den 2004er Prius 19 Jahre lang gefahren (330`000 km) und fahre seit über einem halben Jahr den Prius 2.0 Plug-In Hybrid (den nur Hybriden gibt es in der Schweiz nicht). Bin in jeder Beziehung begeistert.

For the HUD dash, you need to raise your seat and tilt it back. This makes sure headroom is not a problem but allowing you to be high enough to see the display.

The steering wheel blocking the dash maybe cause by pull the too far out. I been driving my 2023 limit with steering wheel push closest to dash for two mouth now and ever has an issue with the dash been block, narrow front view or A pillar blocking the view.

Indeed. It looks like his legs are almost completely straight out. Most people drive with their legs more bent which means you're closer to the dash. He has a strange driving position, and it's not due to his overall height. Maybe he has unusually long legs for a 6' person. 🙂

Not really. It comes down to personal experience. For example, I'm 5'-11" and have absolutely no issues with comfortably seeing the gauge cluster. I also don't feel like I'm sitting on the floor. And there are many other things I don't agree with him. But, again, that's HIS personal experience.

I just bought mine today. The only color they had in the entire region was silver, and even though I really wanted white or gray... I felt lucky to get this one. I watched this video twice when I got home to learn how to use everything. Phenomenal detail on basically every function. And the perfect amount of praise and nitpick. It really is a sharp looking car, but the dash and steering wheel are confusing at first to navigate. I have had a Prius C since 2012, so I thought it would be a smooth transition. But they are wayyy different, which is mostly a good thing. I was used to the road noise of the 2012 Prius and a Jeep Wrangler before that, so this new one sounds like ninja compared to those😂.

The white is not really white. Take a very close look on a bright day. The paint is pearl, not white. We had ours for a month before discovering that. Love it, 4,350Km and we've gassed it up once............................. . Also had a 2012 C, big upgrade.

Bought the XLE I'm thinking of trading it for a month of driving experience with it. Never had a detachment with a New car before. Im not a big guy but this car is small that you're always hitting something when getting in. The steering wheel blocks center gauge cluster The touch to unlock door handle is finicky, it keeps locking the car after a few touches instead of unlocking it. When you have the windows roll down and there's a cross wind as you're driving, the moon roof cover starts raddling with the wind, on a 37k car.

I liketo sit pretty close to the dash and pretty high. The can easily see the full display, but I can't move the sun visor to the side. In my old prius I had to move my head to the side to move it but in the 2024 it hits the head rest and so can't be used to shade the side. Don't care though, I LOVE this car (my 4th Prius) ❤

Toyota's are often noisey. I have a Tacoma and it has wind noise and almost sounds like there a window down a bit.
@mrxman581 Жыл бұрын
The car is not as noisy for me. I guess it depends on what you're comparing it too. Also, the drone of the ecvt only really is noticeable as you're first accelerating. Once you reach the speed you want, it's gone. So in highway driving it's really not an issue. Even in city driving unless you're the type of driver that always floors it after a stop sign or traffic light.
@ddm62571 Жыл бұрын
@mrxman581 Cvt transmissions don't bother me. I had a Honda Civic and it kind of made a little bit of that drone sound. I'm fine with it.
