2025 HONDA RUBICON 700 we rode it first in Canada

We ride the 2025 Honda Rubicon 700. This unit was a PP2 prototype that cannot be registered. So, we could not take out on public land or federated trails. It is 90% complete as it's going to be to dealer showrooms. We wish to thank Honda Outdoors Canada for the opportunity to test ride this unit and we consider ourselves very fortunate for this.

I have also been riding them since 1977. I didn't say they weren't reliable. They are behind the times. I have had 2 DCT transmissions and don't care for them when the going gets tough. Sometimes on the farm, we need more power than a Honda can deliver. One wet calving season, the only one not getting stuck was my son with the Can Am.

I hardly ever have to switch on my 4wd, usually up steep hills just to help traction for peace of mind. But my Grizzly has EPS and differential lock and I've only used the locking differential a couple of times but I would've been stuck without it so it's a pretty useful option. Especially as expensive Hondas are.

That's so crazy I was just at my local Honda dealership picking up my friends 2024 Rubicon from service and they just received the brand new 2025 and I did not see a button for the locker I told myself maybe they did not select that option but the one next to it also did not have the button didn't really think much about it but holy cow are they seriously going backwards? They're not going to sell these with diff locks anymore? Wow that's sad because these last few weeks I've been writing this Honda Rubicon for a very long time now I've put hundreds of miles on it and I've gotten to get to know it pretty good I am a Yamaha person myself, ans was thinking of getting a honda. But, screw that!!

It is an excellent trail machine for my wife. It just doesn’t have the low end power I need for work. There is absolutely no comparison of it against my King quad 750 when it comes to pulling power. If Honda would put a low range, diff lock and power steering, it would be a great machine.

How can this be more expensive than the 520 rubicon? It's missing power steering, diff lock, hitch, tow capacity, adjustable shocks. I don't see a reason to trade unless it was less money.

This does not have a hydrostatic transmission. The Rincon had a three-speed automotive style automatic transmission. The original Rubicon 500 had a hydrostatic transmission. The new Rubicon 500 has a DCT transmission. So if this transmission in the new 700 Rubicon is the same as the Rincon, it is not a hydrostatic transmission.

I've argued for years that power steering is quite the luxury: very few machines actually need it once you're moving. With that said it is pretty unacceptable that they didn't include it on this as a higher level model. The problem that exists for this thing is the new Can-Am 700 single cylinder which is better in almost every way for less money.

If what the commenters saying is true that it doesn’t have EPS, dif lock, winch. I would get it from a cost standpoint, Honda is just plain reliable. But what I’m struggling to understand is the MSRP of 10k, without those features, when it’s becoming standard on the other big brand machines AND close to that price.

Can am outlander 700 and Yamaha grizzly 700 even Kodiak 700 are levels above this machine and a much better buy. These atvs are all pretty reliable and will do just fine long term. The rubicon 520 though is well worth the 10k and would be my number 1 pick unless I’m doing slot of high speed road driving id pick the grizzly 700

@@JoshuaOverman I agree but... it's a darned Honda and these are known to be nearly bulletproof if reasonably maintained. I know my Can-Ams like the back of my hand and I cannot vouch for long term reliability at the level of Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha. You aldo overlooked the King Quad 750 witch in it's latest iteration I'll take hands down over the Yamaha. It rides better, more comfortable, also has a near bulletproof CVT system and the engine has more grunt.

My parents have a 2019 750 King quad and a 2023 750 King quad and everyone who's rode those two and my 2019 grizzly 700 all agree that the grizzly has a plusher seat smoother suspension and better power steering. I've never maxed out the king quad in speed, but it does kind of feel like it might be faster than the grizzly and I definitely like how much quieter it is because the grizzly is really loud compared to the king 750. I had a 2015 Rubicon 500 and as much as I love Honda I just got tired of the lack of features and the grizzly fit the bill and I'm definitely not regretting that decision. Fingers crossed but so far I have 4,300 trouble-free miles.

@@whosnext2005 Feels more planted... Tha latest Grizz is a great machine dont get me wrong but I feel the front end is too imprecise, it feels mushy. The Suzuki is way more precise on the front end at speed in curves. Yes it is more powerful but not by much. the midrange is where the suzuki has more grunt.

I own a 2007 Honda Rincon used exclusively for work on my trapline in Northwestern Ontario. This is the absolutely best piece of equipment I have ever owned. I have over 14,000 km on my bike and still on the original brakes and have never changed a part on this bike, besides tires of course. I would purchase this Rubicon 700 in a heartbeat knowing its reliability.

It's not hydrostatic it's a automotive 3-speed with a torque converter, wake up. It's needs to be updated and upgraded to 2100 century not 1900 hundreds, i am a honda man i have owned one from 1982, reliable yes, cutting edge no, they need to get of there asses and wake up, for what they are charging the should be up to date, newer more powerful engines better suspension etc. i love Honda's but they need to change if they want to still exist.

The unit we had was a prototype and could not be plated so we had only our woods in the back of the studio to ride. No issues with the transmission were noted. Honestly I prefer to manually shift when riding sportingly ***cough cough***.

If you’re planning on climbing steep hills or mountains or any other low gear application you should consider the 420’s, and 520’s, this machine is not geared towards those type of scenarios.

To me the Honda is a one trick pony. And I'm not saying NA brands aren't reliable. I don't know anyone who has had engine issues with Can-am, Polaris, or Arctic Cat. But Polaris and Can-am have more maintenance. But AC, they are rock solid from their partnerships with Suzuki and Yamaha.

@@EC_ATV_Outdoors The Kawasaki Brute Force 750 is a solid machine as well. It’s got plenty of power EPS, Front Locker, and solid CVT. Kawasaki’s CVT is on par with Yamaha. They don’t advertise a 10yr warranty, but they will last. They don’t require the maintenance that Polaris, and Can Am do. It’s difficult to buy other brands than Honda when you work really hard for your money, and have had Polaris before. I haven’t owned a Can Am, but I have considered the Outlander Pro several times. It appears to be a much better built machine than any of their previous models, but it is competing with track records of reliability that stretches over 30 years, and has thousands upon thousands of testimonies with proof of reliability. I have a 1996 Honda Fourtrax 300 that is 28yrs old with still a strong heartbeat . That’s hard to beat, hands down. Another thing about this Rubicon is it has an auxiliary recoil starter, which means it has a backup for starting if the battery dies, and won’t leave you stranded. The same goes for that 1996 Honda 300 it has a kick starter, you don’t even need a battery for it.

@@EC_ATV_Outdoors I was googling, and doing some research on looking for Can Ams with high mileage to get a better idea about reliability, and longevity. Come to find out had to look at the Can Am defenders to see high mileage Rotax engines, but people are getting as many as 58,000 miles with little issues with those machines. I been looking in forums etc. I went to a Can Am/ Honda / Yamaha/dealer near me, they didn’t have but only 2 Hondas out 1 Rancher DCT Power Steering straight axle, and a Blue Rubicon Delux. I checked out their Outlander Pro models as they had some in stock, and I looked them over, chit chatted with their tech for a while. I posted 2 videos on my channel about it, didn’t get enough footage as they were looking to close, and I didn’t want to hold them up for the weekend. Those Outlander Pros are built pretty good from what I can tell. I also noticed that Can Ams start much easier in sub zero temperatures than Hondas, may be due to their experience with Ski doo snowmobiles, and their fuel injection system, the tech I spoke to said they had better coils. I watch plenty of of Can Am cold starts, and watched the startup on the first try in -20 degrees with ease. The same for their snowmobiles they start in -40 degrees within seconds. Now living in Wisconsin where it can get -50 with wind chill under extremes ( it doesn’t get that extreme every year ) but stays below freezing for a good portion of the winter, in the teens, and sub zero temperatures, so I can see that being a good thing. Down south where I am originally from Southern West Virginia that’s not really an issue, but certain parts of the country or world it’s a big deal.

Funny but Yamaha did the opposite of Honda. On my 2021 Grizzly SE bottom lights led, handlebar light halogen. 3 speed, no low range, no power steering and no diff lock. What about a trailer hitch? Honda could and should do better.

Honda seems like an incredibly conservative company that occasionally does something completely nuts (Element, Rune, Blackbird are some examples that spring to mind). I totally understand the hate on this machine! Everyone wanted a new honda big bore or something new. But just listen to this, this machine will drive as smooth as any other big bore out there!!! No it dont have a locker no it dont have power steering, but just be honest do you really need either!!!!????? That does not stop it from being the best trail worth honda utility atv! Its hondas fastest utility atv! Yes all machines in this class and even a few 500 class machines can win in a race with it. But its not awful slow it still does 60-65mph. Coming from owning ranchers and even a 500 suzuki, this thing is much faster then that and it surpised me! This thing does exactly what you want it to do thats work play and last forever. All japanise big bores have been the same for last 15 years just like this. I am a owner of a 07 rincon and love it! Ask any owner that has one they are good machines and they last forever!!! Better suspension better display better lighting better rims and tires better more compacity racks and updated looks. Still worthy in my book!

1) BORING, Honda is the most boring ATV on the market. 2) Honda reliability is not a thing anymore. If forced, I'd take a 2005 over a 2025. I know 3 owners of Honda's that are all 2018 and newer, and all 3 have transmission issues that Honda can't fix. One of those people, after 15000 KMS, 13x in the shop, and a diagnostic computer strapped to the pod for weeks, they finally replaced it. And they had the same issue. At which point they sold it.

The thing is... They will sell every single one they make without sales incentives, promotions and advertisement. That's Honda ATVs for Honda. They make them reliable (I rarely see major issues in both dealers a buddy of mine owns) they make good money on them (dealers and manufacturer) and their whole customer base has a much higher level of satisfaction than the american brands. It's smart, not fun, just smart. Sucks for us that want more power but that's how they do things and, dammit, it works out beautifully for them. It's a money thing...

The myth about Honda reliability needs to end. This isn’t 1995 anymore. New atvs are all generally reliable with the same basic maintenance and the rincon has well documented transmission issues that anyone can read about in depth with a basic Google search

The 570 has 44hp. From research, the honda only has 32-38 depending on the machine. The 570 is also a torque monster in the low-end rpms. I sometimes miss my 570 but it was not a very tough machine. Axles, bearings, etc, wear out too fast on it and it has heat issues (burning legs, etc). That being said, I'd still take the 570 over any honda. Its just smoother, funner, way cheaper.

Honda has let me down for the last time I’d buy a CanAm 700 before this coming from someone who has owned a 650 and a 680 which I still ride and has a BRGR installed to turn 28” silver backs and I wait till 2025 to be surprised with this BS there’s not even a model 700 that doesn’t come standard with a locker and power steering hell how can they sale a 520 Rubi/Foreman even the Ranchers come with this and there pioneer 700 SXS, at-least offer a special edition 700 with these features, WHAT EVEN IS THIS!!!! *J.O.K.E*

Good video, thank you. I am buying one. It's not the Honda's problem not making 1000cc ATVs. They can make it any time of the day. It is the morons who drive recklessly and die driving atv. And they sue the atv brand. Blaming the atv company for the death of their idiot sons or family members. Same with guns right now. They're suing gun brands that were used by psychotic people in the school shootings, etc. They are blaming the company, not the moron who uses them. Other brands making 1000cc ATV's, have a lot of pending cases right now. If this continues, other brands will not make high powered ATVs as well.

When you say the new Rubicon is in the ball park as the other guys at $14000 after you said it doesn’t have diff lock, power steering and its slow our opinions differ. If a company it’s going to try and put new plastics and tires and still charge a premium that’s a total disappointment.
