Also glad they're offering a tad more on the tow rating, the telescopic wheel and longer bed option. But other than that, I like it (although I wish the backseat room was a tad larger and seatback angle wasn't so upright). I could be persuaded.

7:43 No Alex, I think this 20 year old Nissan V6 will be more reliable and have less maintenance to deal with at 100k+ miles than the new turbo hybrid Tacoma. This Frontier might be slower and achieve less MPG than the new high tech Tacoma. But I highly doubt it will be less reliable.

It's an improvement for sure. I was looking to replace my 15 year old last gen Frontier with the current gen, and there's not enough improvement for it to be worthwhile. This is definitely moving in the right direction. However, with the Titan being discontinued, I hope Nissan takes this opportunity to invent a new category. I would love a v6 truck bigger than the current Frontier, but smaller than the Titan. If they could meet in the middle and make something new soon, I'd be very intrigued.
@zanthir13934 ай бұрын
The T100 was before my time, but from looking into it, that's not quite what I'm talking about. I do remember full size trucks not being behemoths, and wish they'd go back. I love my current midsize truck mostly, just wish the cab was bigger for a growing family. A full size crew cab interior is great, but the cost and vehicle footprint are too much. Would still love something in between the current size offerings, but I understand that might be a niche market.
@zanthir13934 ай бұрын
I see the logic, but the modern family dynamics have shifted. My wife still has the people mover, but if we're doing dirty stuff, taking the kids to sports events, creek, camping, etc, my truck is still the go to. It's tight on the interior. In my ideal world, they would stretch the midsize cab by 6 inches in length, maybe 4 inches in width, and just add that to the wheel base. Still significantly smaller than the current full size segment. The Frontier's wheelbase is already 5 inches shorter than the GMC twins, so it's possible. In reality I probably need to bite the bullet and just get a full size, but I'm fighting it.
@zanthir13934 ай бұрын
It doesn't worry me due to quality, but that longer wheelbase doesn't come with a larger cab unfortunately. It's currently my front runner if I were to replace my 2010 Frontier with a midsize truck today, but it honestly still feels smaller inside than my current Frontier. But I've lived with this truck for 15 years, so will probably just hang onto it for now. Again, with my needs, I'm likely going to have to upsize. Just dreaming of a happy medium.

Prior to purchasing, we test-drove and compared the Frontier to Toyota, Ford and both of the Chev & GM. All of the other brands have hideous interiors. I don't need my truck screaming at me what model I just bought. I know, I paid for it. @jeanclaude7018 It takes generations to make and lose a reputation. With the Tundra and Tacoma problems, Toyota's reputation has taken a hit. There is another news story going around where an engine in one of their new cars caught fire while still in warranty and the owner had a dash cam and did everything you are supposed to do (pull over immediately and shut car off). Toyota refused to cover the loss because the guy was going 85 mph and exceeding the speed limit. This is the kinda stuff Honda has been doing for years.
@clarkkent90804 ай бұрын
@jeanclaude7018 I would think it is about complexity. The only vehicle that will not have a turbo issue is one that does not have a turbo. Multi speed transmissions have more moving parts and that means more potential failures. I am old school and amazed at people that demand apple car play and android auto, heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel. all the safety features, power this and that and then complain when it breaks. The main purpose is to get from point A to B and anything you add for comfort adds to complexity and potential failure. I can wait 5 minutes for the heater or AC to make me comfortable. And once I set the seat, it never gets changed. I just bought a Nissan Frontier ProX and it has the auto start/stop. I press the defeat button after starting but will soon install an aftermarket defeat circuit. People don't realize that there is more to auto start stop than just starting and stopping. It requires a massive battery ($$$ for replacement), upgraded starter, different heat/cooling system, and additional electronics all increasing cost and complexity. You pay for what you get and then pay again when that option breaks. Every manufacturer is having problems with the technology, some more than others.

Oh, Nissan. I’m in the market for a mid-size pickup and have owned many Nissan models before. The Frontier technically checks all the boxes, but the competition is notably more modern/updated. The HVAC controls, camera system, and steering wheel are all aged Nissan designs from at least 2018, if not older. I’ve owned the Altima, Rouge, and Kicks. For a 2025 model, the interior is all too familiar. These designs are functional and reliable, but lack the modern feel of the Tacoma or Ford twins. I would love to see Nissan to take the time to update their design language to be more current, or better yet, set the standard for a mid-size pickup in North America. They need to draw in more customers by making the trims more geared to a specific set of customers. Luxury, performance, and ‘work’ focused trims could really get the Frontier on more people’s shopping list. Nissan needs to do a better job at pulling focus from other brands and not just following behind them to really make this a success for them.
@christopherchristie46425 ай бұрын
I hear ya! However, I think a lot of truck buyers want what works reliably which isn't always the latest, greatest piece of whiz-bang technology. As you mentioned, the stuff is functional and reliable. Also have to give kudos for not putting HVAC stuff into a touch screen. I can definitely recognize the HVAC head unit though. It looks like a slightly updated one from my 2015 and 2018 Sentra's. I'm kind of surprised they didn't use the one from the Pathfinder, but maybe there wasn't a cheap way to redesign it without the 2nd/3rd row controls.

I just bought a 2024 proX new with all the typical options (mats, remote start, etc) and the Tech package for $5,000 UNDER MSRP

@jeanclaude7018 Im guessing, but Im pretty sure its going to be a lot more. The 12 inch screen, telescoping steering wheel, electric lumbar, inflation, etc. aint guna' pay for itself. Thats where the customer will have to cough up the money.

I’m nervous about the 9 speed transmission. Just give us a bombproof 6 speed.

I have a '17 Tacoma TRD Sport V6 ext cab 6.5' bed. Someday I will need to replace it. I would love a ProX4 with a 6' bed in a king cab configuration. I need a truck to do truck things but I never carry passengers.

Does this mean the Pro4x will be available with King cab?

Black or Carbon fiber would have been a better choice for the top of the infotainment center ...it would be modded as soon as i picked one up

I've heard some negatives about the transmission in these in the last few years, any input? I'm kinda looking at getting one

I was hoping for some 4-piston front brakes... but other than that, very not bad!
