Absolutely! I’m also mounting my gas tank higher above the engine and putting a clear inline filter and shutoff valve in the fuel line. This will hopefully keep the gas cooler for more prolonged get up and go plus you can be sure you aren’t bogging the carb down with gunk overtime. I’ve already built the mounting plate and have a bigger tank to mount on it.

In the 1960's & 70's 6:1 was the standard starting ratio with 4-5" rims. Divid the number of drive teeth into the driven sprocket number of teeth eg 11 divided into 60 will give you your final drive ratio - run a torque converter if you can afford one : you'll have quicker pickup.Thanks Trev New Zealand

My reccomendation (if you haven't already done this) is if you don't feel like taking out the governor, try backing out the throttle screw as much as you can. You'll get 3900 RPMs out of it (up from 3600 stock). You can also do the "spring mod" as I've been hearing people call it. It's literally just moving the spring that attaches to the governor arm up one hole. I've heard claims of 4900 RPM when combined with the throttle screw being backed out. I'm a bit wary to try this, as I don't know if the governor can handle 4900 (I hear they're tested up to 4200, which means you'll *probably* be OK but I'm not sure.). Valve springs, flywheel, and connecting rod should all be fine.
@kartingkid714

After the vid I'd backed out the throttle screw. But thanks man! I'll be doing a governor adjustment video soon, I don't want to completely removed if I don't have to. Seriously thank you, I can never get straight answers on these things on the internet
@BunkerBlog
@BunkerBlog 6 жыл бұрын
The Karting Freak No problem man. But like I said be careful with that adjustment. I'm not sure if it's 100% safe for the governor gear to be operating at such high RPMs. Then again there are stock motors with no work done on them that break.
@Alex-cu6uw
@Alex-cu6uw 5 жыл бұрын
Shark Bait if your just turning the govener screw out I’m sure it’s fine but I don’t recommend moving the springs on the throttle assembly forward one hole because that govener gear is not very strong

@@Alex-cu6uw They do it in the box stock predator classes all the time. Not sure how LONG you can run it like that, but I doubt it is that bad considering they wring the crap out of those engines on the track.

@josephmaldonadojr4692
@josephmaldonadojr4692 5 жыл бұрын
@@capricornninja3693 I would assume you have found your answer by now but it is worth it depending on your gearing you will hear the engine stop revving all the sudden if it is "running out of gearing" but in my case my cart goes 35mph at 2900rpm considering the max governed rpm is 3600rpm there is no need for me to remove it (though it was already removed when I got it) and I've reved it to 4700 (without my chain on so I can free rev it)(usually you can rev un governed to at least 5200k pretty safely with a completley stock engine/flywheel in my case I hate my gearing but my sprocket on the axel is a pain to remove in my case as you can see my engine has a lot more in it so the gearing is stupid hope this answers your question to add my mods are just an intake upgrade and jet but these are not needed for you.to.rev higher though you gain some top end power

Needs a torque converter (with a juggernaut). You can run much shorter gears with a torque converter to get a higher top speed and good acceleration.

Thanks for showing us the intricacies of this kit. I don't understand why you had to pull the engine off the cart in order to install this kit. Is there something I'm missing? I don't think that that gasket you replaced was put on correctly, you can see holes behind the gasket that are not sealed. You might also want to add a muffler to that pipe to reduce the noise.

Do you gotta adjust the air/fuel ratio? Or nah

you should get a rachet. it would make tightening and loosening the nuts and bolts a lot faster.

This is great! Can you say how much faster it goes compared to the stock engine before the modification?
@kartingkid714

If you did the full stage one mod (with governor removal) depending on the gear ratio there could be a around a ten mph difference. In term of acceleration, I do not know but there was definitely a difference!

Thanks! What do you think the difference would be if you kept the governor in?
